What if LV had a mobile app

I fail to see the benefit of it. In my experience, lots of apps pretty much just act as a shortcut to the online service itself without any noteworthy extra functionality to set it apart from the site itself. Why not just keep a bookmark in your mobile device? There would have to be some other layer of a thing that mobile browsing can't easily do: showdown integration, some high level of interactivity, something like that.

For now I'm satisfied just to use my desktop and laptop, but maybe that's because I'm less hooked on smartphoniness than many people.

 

I agree with Zero, what's the point of having a LV app?

 

LV is first and foremost a forum. Now, the idea of an app is nice at first, but when you think about the complexities: First, browsing through a page: you have a whole series of forums, among user controls, status updates, recent/important topics, onlines staff and other things, as well as an active user list and anouncement. To be made into an app, you'd have to put all that into one page in order to keep this idea of it being a forum.

Sites like Facebook? They work in app form due to a more simplistic layout and the style of posting things. Lake Valor (or any other forum for that matter) is just too complex to be made into something like an app without looking somewhat crowded (at least, from what I can picture).

Furthermore, [member='Zero Sifr'] has an excellent point: why not just bookmark the site on your browser? I have it bookmarked there and honestly one extra button press to open the browser really isn't anything to complain about (I'm generally on LV on my tablet a fair bit).

It's a nice idea, considering the general success of apps, but it's of my opinion that it wouldn't work for LV. Who knows, I might just be spouting nonsense (to which, I have been known to do a lot), but from my stand point I just don't see it working in the long run.

 

Heeeeey, why dontcha try to create a topic and post with more than 1 line of text outside of the spambox? I think that'd be cooler than any mobile app.
