Creating characters is a lot of fun, whether it be in writing, art, or even a video game. There's something cool about turning an idea of a person into a fully realized character. So, what is your favorite character that you've created?

    My favorite:
Personally, my favorite character is "Tom" the Rouge, a character I created for Dungeons and Dragons. I showed up to the first session and realized I had forgotten to create a character prior to showing up, so when the DM asked me for a character description, I came up with the idea for Tom in about two seconds. Honestly, how more generic can you get than Tom for a name and the Rouge class?

I didn't expect Tom to survive at all. In fact, I tried to get Tom killed so that I could move on to my next character idea. Tom refused to die no matter how hard I tried. I thought he would fall if he didn't have a good weapon, so I jokingly equipped him with a bag of sand. Instead of failing, he laid waste to the battlefield, dealing more damage than anyone else in the party and being the one to land the killing blow on every enemy we fought for seven weeks straight.

My next plan to get rid of Tom was to give him what is considered the weakest subclass of rouges: Arcane Trickster. While Arcane Tricksters are more versatile than the other subclasses, it's lack of powerful specialization compared to the other subclasses makes it less popular than, for example, Assassin. Well, instead of becoming weaker, Tom accidentally became a powerful user of magic, making the Wizard in our party look downright pathetic by sheer dumb luck.

The last chance I had to wipe Tom off the face of the planet came about when I got separated from the other party members and ran into a boss that was a CR6. That "CR6" stands for "Challenge Rating: 6" meaning that a party of four at level six would find him to be a moderate challenge. I thought for sure that alone at level two, Tom wouldn't stand a chance. Instead, Tom handily defeated the boss without even dropping below half health, gaining enough experience to jump up to level four immediately, with only 100 exp left until level five. Now being over twice the level of every other party member, Tom became truly undefeatable to every challenge the party faced.

Just to keep with the spirit of the character, I still try to get Tom killed every chance I get. I doubt it will ever work, seeing as how he's rapidly approaching the "God-Tier" level of absurdly powerful, but it's fun in a silly way to see a character that, against all odds, is immune to failure.

The favourite character I've created is my Time Lord OC, The Hunter. She's one of the few characters that actually has a really complete backstory and I have written so many stories with her. Because she thinks Time Lords can do anything, she's very much the "I don't care about what I do as long as I have fun" kind of people, but she can get serious when necessary. Because of her general attitude, I am able to write up the most insane things ever (like my fanfic, only worse), for example: my sword is called 25 Degrees, my bow is called 42 Percent and my assistant (a tiny talking alligator) is called Assignment 60. Even though I don't use her that much anymore these days, I still love her <3

My favorite character that I have created by far is Kekeionga the Lunar Echidna. Her personality kind of reminds me of one who is in charge of being the peace maker and mother-like figure. She will always care for the young and makes sure they have all the attention they need until they are old enough to understand life. When there are times, she finds a young innocent child all alone after being abandoned or loss of parents, she will happily take them in and raise them as her own. As for peace maker, she often uses her voice and step in the middle to calm a fight. She will never use her psychic powers to unless if it's to defend herself. What also made her a great peace maker is her stubbornness in the it. She does not know when to quit in those situations and will always make sure that both sides' apologize or at least stop fighting.

I don't create nearly enough characters for someone that wants to be a writer, but some of my favorite half ideas are Lacey the were pachirisu, she turns into a human near the full moon, and this character for a roleplay who has a small squad of giant ants hooked to his brain.

Ooh! I was in a fun little pony RP last year and I love the character I made for it:
Lava Plume is a cynical pegasus from Dodge Junction, who fills the role of the snark knight, a pony who holds even herself up to unrealistically high standards. She has no problem pointing out what somepony is doing wrong and can come off as inconsiderate. She can be a bit harsh on herself, but this doesn't bring her down much more than she usually is, since she's well aware of everpony else's flaws. She has a history of training at the Flame Geyser Swamp and has become very good at dodging things thanks to the spontaneity of the geysers. She's always had a fascination with fire and volcanos, so she's striving to become a volcanologist.

Well... The fact that almost every other roleplay and every story I right features my character Naomi Shika should make it inherently clear. I don't know what it is about her, she's like the exact opposite of me, just quite similar at the same time. She's extremely outgoing and loud, but she comes off as a bit crazy to some people. She often only has a few close friends who she really gets to know, and in one story (I'll admit, while it's adorable, it was when I submitted her for someone else's story) she actually does have a love interest.

She is my most consistent character, and while she sometimes can appear to be a genderbent version of most Shounen protagonists, especially given her using fire of all the uncreative things, I keep fleshing out how to write her. She keep evolving with each rp, and while some characters may come and go, some recurring infrequently through my rp characters, Naomi is a staple, I'm proud of my little potato, and she will be important to my writing career, be it roleplaying or actual stories, even if over time having a staple character my seem tiring to some.

My favorite character is Jason Tyler Monroe from my book "zero twelve". I just love the idea behind him and in a way he is the kind of person I always wanted to be in some aspects. Still every rose has it's thorns.

I have a few, for different things.
    The Birthday Goblin
The Birthday Goblin was a NPC I used at a N.E.R.O. event (the larp I enjoy most). I literally just do my best with my throwing weapons (that deal 1 damage) to protect the person who has a birthday. The first one that I vowed to protect, was probably effectively 10-20 levels higher than me, with probably 4-5 others that much stronger than me hanging out with him. They've become a normal thing for me to play as with my younger siblings. It is just a weird but fun character.
    Endrew
This is my username. However, I use it frequently when playing with friends and my young siblings. This isn't really one character, as they have been in so many different games, and a few stories. But, the idea behind them doesn't change, and so the idea of Endrew is what makes it here.
    Quarion
This is my Wood Elf Monk for D&D. Such a fun character to play, and with my dad's character Thistledawn the Gnome Druid, this socially awkward pair have tackled many missions meant for twice the number of people and won. He distrusted people, is an artisan of most materials, and seems to enjoy missing with the magic sword and just bludgeoning things to death with his fist. Thistledawn thinks that I'm "Faking them out." I don't remember the personality much, but it is similar to my own. These two are just TONS of fun to role play as. I haven't tried killing him off, like Madness has with his, but I may as well have. I mean, I taunt enemies to shoot me with their weapons so that I can try and throw them back. Plus, I run up to things that can swallow me whole and punch them in the face.

I've created various characters in my life, and it's very difficult to choose! I have two favourites:

    Here's one:

This is a Grass/Electric starter I created for my imaginary region. It's name is Hyraca! This Pokémon is based on the ancient horse Hyracotherium.

The other character is the protagonist for the novel I am writing. I do not have any great pictures, but here's the jist of how he looks like:

Yup, he's a snake! His name is Icarus. I cannot reveal more than that!

    Lugia shall be posting soon!

I'm most proud of my OC Nadya Lovelle. I first created her here on LV about 4 years ago, and she has come very far since that time. She started off as a reclusive Voodoo mistress that lived in a swamp in a medieval fairytale setting. I also gave her stereotypical Romani elements: She used tarot cards and was able to tell fortunes. However, after doing research, I came to realize that voodoo is sorely misinterpreted as something malicious when it is not, and that the Romani don't really do tarot readings and shit anymore. Ah, ignorant 16 year old me. So that idea was tossed out of the window about 3 years ago.

But I wanted to keep Nadya shrouded in something related to folktales. It was something she was originally based off of, and I wanted to keep that element. So I delved into Romani folktales and stumbled across a faery creature called Iele. A Iele is kind of like a Greek nymph & a siren hybrid of sorts. They are in touch with nature and equipped with voices that can disorient and kill a person. Kinda cool, yeah?? I decided to base Nadya off of an Iele that was forced to live a mortal life. Below is a more in-depth write-up of her story:

She is a spirit bound to the human world.
An Iele, a servant of the God Sabaoth, whom spent the days of her immortality twirling about the forests of Romania. She was a creature of legend that people rarely saw. Nadya was surrounded by her Iele sisters, bathing in cool brooks and dancing round moonlit stones. Laughter and beautiful voices and entrancing dances: The carefree life of a faery untouched by human beings. But as time went on, the human population grew. Nadya's forests, caves, and pools began to decrease as humans increased– Her homeland turning into resources for the mortal beings.
At first, she behaved as any normal Iele would: cursing humans, causing men to disappear, go insane, go mute. But for every person they cursed and rendered useless, two more were born. Nadya's 'sisters' continued to curse the humans, but for Nadya it was not ENOUGH. Humans did nothing but destroy: They took from the Earth without giving back. Vengeful, Nadya took it to the next level. [Check out 'abilities' for more info about the following paragraph]
For an entire month, each night Nadya danced. She danced round hills, farmlands, cities. With each step she took, the grass beneath her feet would die, as would grass in surrounding areas. The grass would grow back once she had stepped on it. Humans could not see her as she did this– Only hear the bells that she wore 'round her feet. A gentle, yet terrifying sound to any human who were aware of what an Iele was.
As the grass died, so did the cattle raised by the humans. And with dead cattle came a great famine in various small communities. People died, people grieved, people prayed. Why had this happen to them? Why was God punishing them? Why had he sent a vengeful Iele after them? Their prayers and concerns were heard, and Sabaoth felt anger towards Nadya. These humans– They were his children! Created in his image and meant to serve him– Serve him as Nadya was to. Yet he felt betrayed by the Iele's actions. Her actions would not go unpunished.
As punishment for her massacre, Nadya was exiled from Romania and forced to live a mortal life. Her ability of flight was stripped from her so that she would not distance herself from humans. Nadya could no longer cause people to disappear nor take on a spirit form. Her body was solid, whole, made of FLESH. She now felt hunger and fatigue for the first time in her life. She now aged. She would no longer remain the age of 14 forever.

I typically portray Nadya around the age of 26, after she is somewhat adjusted to the human world. I sort of left her backstory with a vague ending, because I like to let the RP she's in determine what happens next to her :)

    //shamelessly promotes Hunter Story

Honestly, one thing I love doing is creating characters. And usually, this leads to some strange and some wonderful characters. Which leads to me putting them into situations which they wouldn't normally enter. The joys of control of the literary sort.

Ultimately Hunter Story is my dump for all the character ideas I come up with. I personally have a few favourites from the story myself.

Right off the bat is Maxi Caladbolg. The character I have way too much fun writing for whilst at the same time cringing for days at a time for, Maxi is an energetic 25 year old woman who, at 6'7" dwarves most men. She often conveys her energy by either talking like THIS (fully capitalising a word in a sentence) or by spending her time stretching and exercising. Not to mention getting her annoyed leads to suplex hellven.

That being said, she's a kind character, one who you can rely on when you need her. She's strong, both in heart and in body. But please for the love of all that's good, don't let her comment on your chest size, because that means more awkward writing for me.

Another fave of mine would ve Elliot Test. Former villain, he now acts as member of the team due to Josephs freely giving nature. However, he's full of both sarc and snark, making comments and statements of both kinds whenever he can, and more often than not speaking in such a tone. He's trustworthy now of course, but whether you'll survive near him is debatable...

I could write for hours about my characters if I'm being honest haha, but I'll be sensible and cut it there. But yeah. Go Maxi!

    And Elliot too <<"

Hmmm... my favorite is probably Evan. He's a human who develops telepathic powers and joins a merry band of travelers as they adventure on the orders of a cat. (The cat doesn't win top spot solely because of all the effort and change I've put into his characterization and backstory) He is both the heart and the moral compass of the group; he's the wisecracking cheerful one who tries to steer them on the straight and narrow. It's also been a ton of fun thinking about his relations to the rest of the group and their enemies. Plus telepathy is a hella cool power to have and write!

    Okay, prepare!

Rai is a female Raichu Gijinka who is the star of two completely random stories I am writing. Yes, I do know that Rai is a boy's name. Do not mention that to her.

In her human form, she's about 15. I can't really draw, so, sorry.

    Nya
You're probably thinking; oh, jeez, she's created a neko cat-person. NOPE! Nya is a demon with a slight obsession with purple. She specializes in possession and that kind of stuff. She was originally supposed to be in a terrible Doctor Who fanfic, but now she's just all over the dang place.

Those are the first two that come to mind. Meh.

Wow, I'm liking some of the above. Good stuff, let me see if I can keep up.

Once upon a time, I decided I would do a run of Skyrim RP style. Invent a character with a backstory, personal motivations, reasons for doing or not-doing things. I got about five hours into gameplay before I gave up, but here's what I had: Oren, a Redguard male (preset-and-edited default appearance that seemed to fit: very-dark skintone with a corn-row mohawk and a goatee (a style I've tweaked and applied to my real self) plus a broken-ish nose and scars), was a boy living in Hammerfell at the time that the AD was invading. While they were destroying one city or another (the one he lived in), he was only 10-14 years old, and tried to join the militia to defend the city. He's too young, is told to stay home, he says eff that and steals some weapons, sneaks into an enemy encampment and actually has relative success with his first real combat and bloodshed. Honorably allowed into the military too young, he then goes on to become an army-of-one agent for the Hammerfell military and liaison to the Imperial government and is eventually chased out of there by AD inquisitors, and instead of fleeing back to his homeland, must go to Skyrim instead, mostly for geographic reasons and because they have the best chance of killing more elves. So, he'll do anything in his power to put ADs to the sword and doesn't quite care about regular folks' problems unless they resonate with him (dead parents, victim of war, something like that).

After that, Alexa (Alexandria, an acceptable Arabic name if you stretch some definitions), the main from that ff I was running with until a few months ago, I've used in some other things, like custom characters in videogames or having cameos in other literature. Despite her variable backstory, she's generally of a tough and self-sufficient personality type. Imagine if Batman was a not-particularly-religious little girl from a wealthy Saudi Arabian family going against her culture's and family's expectations of her, but is still on good terms with both despite her non-conformity. I'm still trying to use her in something, once I have more time for writing (this summer, perhaps).

My favourite is this character I made In a role play a long time ago. I was really obsessed with Jeffery woods, the killer so I had decided to use a female version of him< it wasn't my best character but to this day I'm still roleplaying with her for the fun of it, I make her sassy, stubborn and all together mean to others but she now (Due to roleplaying) Is dating an angel (What the hell, right?) and has two children. I'm not planning on giving up on her, and I have written a few stories with her in it so I'm enjoying role playing with her while I can. She may be a childish fantasy unbelievable character, but people do that kind of thing all the time, her name is Jill the killer, haha.
