Good evening, afternoon, or morning everyone, I figured I make a topic on Pokémon we think SHOULDN'T get a mega, not counting ones that already do but please feel free to complain about mega rayquaza if you want :p. Anyways, the two Pokémon that come to my mind right now are Xerneas and Yveltal. IMO they do not need to outshine zygarde any more than they do now.

Here's a list of Pokémon I don't want to get a Mega Evolution:

    • Bouffalant
    • Simisear, Simisage and Simipour
    • Eevee and the Eeveelutions
    • Talonflame
    • Kecleon
    • Any of the Rotom forms
    • Most legendaries
    • More to come, probably, I don't know

I think that all Pokémon should be given a chance to get a mega to be quite honest, however, I feel as if there are some Pokémon which, even with a mega, would either still be bad, make no sense at all, or just wouldn't really suit the Pokémon. So here are just a few of these Pokémon and a short explanation to why:

.Pokémon which have a base 100 stat for everything (e.g. Mew, Jirachi and Celebi). Though if they ever do get megas, they'd probably look pretty cool, it's just the fact that it seems most logical they'd only get a boost of 20 to everything besides HP, which is kinda boring and doesn't have much to it. It's likely they'd still do well in battle, though.

.Phione. Following similar logic as the 1st reason, if Phione does ever receive a mega, it's more logical if it gets a boost of 20 to every stat besides HP, which would leave it as 80|100|100|100|100|100. This is still weaker than Manaphy (its parent?) which basically makes it almost pointless for it to have a mega.

.Any forms of Pokémon/Pokémon which have forms (e.g. Keldeo, Deoxys and Rotom). This is because it'd be confusing to whether or not the Pokémon would get a seperate mega, and stone, for each different form, or if it's the original/main form which receives the mega. If so, the other forms are still being left out. As well as this, it may be arguable in some cases which form is the main/original one, adding more confusion.

.Ditto and Zoroark. The reason for this is fairly obvious as it'd potentially mess up Imposter and Illusion. Unless if there's some sort of way to get past this problem, it's unlikely these two Pokémon (and any similar to this case) will ever be getting a mega.

There are some others, but these above are just a few examples.

    Why not Talonflame?

Sure it's kinda OP as is, but I embrace the idea of having one.

Well, first of all, because I hate it xD
But really, I don't think a Mega Evolution would do anything good for Talonflame. This goes for a lot of other Pokémon too, don't get me wrong, Talonflame was just the first one to come to my mind. Both design- and usage-wise, Talonflame seems to be at its peak in its current form, though I challenge anyone to prove me wrong :P

Definitely depends on how and where the franchise is heading. Perhaps if GF focuses on Megas for lower tiered Pokémon first then it'll bring some drastic changes to the Meta game.

However, with that being said, if they do keep on coming out with Megas and focus on lower tiers, then eventually GF will have to result in giving all final evolution Pokémon a Mega Evolution. O_O

As for Pokémon that shouldn't receive Megas I agree that most legendaries shouldn't as they are already strong as is.

I hope GF will never have to reach that point.

While I feel that there is no Pokémon that shouldn't get mega, there still are Pokémon which would require lot of work (Eeveelutions, Rotom), and those who wouldn't benefit enough from the mega, (Luvdisc, Ditto).

There are still some that I don't want to see get a mega, like Arceus, mainly for one reason, what about the plates? Also Dragonite, simply due to how easily it would be broken, and thus unplayable in OU.

Well, Mega Garchomp exists, but look where it is.

    Then again, theres Mega Salamence...

Anyways, as a guy who constantly loves to do Mega Builds, I would say any Pokémon that just not simply have a good enough BST and movepool. Like Sunflora. Or Luvdisc. They will at least need evolutions first.

Either Pikachu or Raichu. Please. Don't. Give. Them. A. Mega. Some other ones I wouldn't like to get mega for would be any eevee evolution. I'm not overtly fond of them.

While I know I don't want these to get a mega, I'd still probably abuse the heck out of them in competitive play. Megas generally aren't necessary for a win in VGC anymore, but man would these guys be fun....
