I haven't seen this question brought up and I think it's about high time we had a thread for it.

What games would you like to see more of?

I find that most of today's developers don't make games for the gamers, but for a profit. You can notice that the games that get a lot of hype and airtime and all that business usually end up selling well, but are horrible games. Not to say that all games are like that. GTA IV had quite a bit of advertisement and is one of the best games ever. Along with the Call of Duty franchise and Halo series.

Personally, I'd love to see more Half-Life 2 styled games. I absolutely love anything to do with a falling civilization and the end-of-the-world feel to them (i.e. Gears of War, Resistance, Half-Life 2). Half-Life 2 is one of my favorite games for this reason. It's the end of the world and you're just getting there and now you've got to fight your way through miles of abandoned cities and forests. Obviously no game can compare to Half-Life 2, but I certainly, if given the chance, would make a game like that in a heartbeat. I would make it just for me too~

Definitely more RPGs like Xenoblade Chronicles. That game just feels so much different compared to other RPGs, and I think a lot of games can learn from what it does so very well.

More JRPGs, period--not just Xenoblade, but something like Chrono Trigger or early Final Fantasy

I may sound weird when I say this, but I'd really like to see more games with non-humanoid protagonists in them. You may think it won't make a difference to the game, but I personally think it does. I tend to have more enjoyment with a game when I like the game's main star, and I generally like colorful lizards and fierce anthro cats with personallity and attitude more than I do some shallow, generic creature that belongs to the same species I belong to. Also, I notice a lot of games these days tend to not only have predominant human goodguys, but predominant NON-human villains, which the whole "Humans good/Everything else evil" cliche is something I'd like to see a LOT less of. ...Also less misanthropic villains like Lysandre and Viridi. (I know Viridi's technically an anti-hero, but I still strongly dislike the character.)

I want more FPS's to adopt that old-school, unrealistic style like GoldenEye 64. It would be nice if Activision didn't touch it either.
How about a challenging game too? Haven't been extremely challenged by a game since the N64 era. More turned-based RPG's would be nice. It's sad they didn't carry out some of the old classics on retro consoles like Shining Force on the Genesis. How about more adventure games with some puzzle elements like Zelda?

I like story-based video games where bad guys have a plausible reason for why they're that way, and aren't simply stereotypical archetypes. These are far and few between, and I can't even name one off of the top of my head, but it's still appreciated. These kinds of games are hard to find, since games with "insane psycho killer" and "power because I like power" and "wild monsters everywhere" are very common. Not to say that those kinds of games are bad, though, they can be really great! It would just be very nice to see something new. :]

New concepts would be nice too, not simply your average video game, just with a new plot and character set. A new way to play would be very refreshing in itself. For example, I was in love with Scribblenauts when it first came out. Really fun! :]
