Since nobody has made a thread about this, I figured I'd start one to talk about mech keyboards.

What type of mech keyboard do you have, what brand and what sort of features that a certain mech keyboard has?

Mine is a SteelSeries Apex M800 keyboard, so it has QS1 switches and LED lights with over 10 million colors so you can customize them in any way you can.

Wish I had a mech keyboard, and going into engineering I might get one eventually... they are soooooo nice. I could type for hours on end just to get the satisfaction from the clicking and clacking. If anyone is writing lots of fanfics... highly recommend xD Seriously though they are super nice

Indeed. They can be also used to play PC games with, so there are programs that can allow LED light customization, to assign specific colors to keys used for PC games.

I don't have one of those, but I spent 10-15 bucks on an Amazon Basics keyboard that has anti-ghosting, full media player controls, shortcut buttons to instantly bring up the general file manager, calculator, and preferred media player (none of which require holding a modifier key, they're just on their own), mildly glowing indicators of the three lock-buttons (because I'd rather look at my screen than my fingers), and generally does anything I want except change to Dvorak mode. Which... maybe I can do if I unscrew the back panel? Harder to change keys than on my old laptop, maybe, but perhaps possible. I'll look into it.

I understand a little bit of the tactile appeal of a mechanical keyboard's feel, but the 10,000,000 color glow seems weird to me. I don't look at my keyboard almost ever, and when I do, it's just for a split second of "okay, the "&" symbol is shift and which number?" before looking back at my screen. Like you maybe did just now: looked down for a split-second, saw it's shift-7, and looked back up. A split second of pretty glow just doesn't appeal to me very much, that's all.

While I agree that it can be quite distracting from looking at it, there are some mech keyboards with no LED lights. It's cheaper than getting a RGB mech keyboard if you are saving up.
