What was your reaction to your first shiny?

When I found my Spheal in Sapphire I had no clue what it was. I caught it easily in a Net Ball and for a very long time thought it was the strangest Pokémon ever seeing how stars kept appearing above its head and the fact that it was purple.

 

Well, I encounter my first shiny (a Caterpie) at school. It was the first time I actually played a Pokémon game, and this was one of my first wild encounters. So when it appeared, and I saw the stars, I just asked my friend next to me: "Yo man, what's wrong with this Caterpie?"

Now, HIS reaction was way funnier

 

By pure chance I was actually paying attention to the screen when the sparkles came out in my first shiny encounter with a shiny sliggoo. Otherwise I would have just ran away again since I play without sound and I couldn't remember off the top of my head what a regular sliggoo even looked like lol. My reaction was more like "omg. wait. Is it actually shiny? It doesn't look very shiny" *tilts ds screen 25.3 degrees and holds it off the Eiffel tower* "Meh I'll catch it anyways and figure it out later"

 

I just stared at the screen dumbstruck not believing my luck at that time (since shinies are more frequent nowadays). I was EV training my SoulSilver team so encountering something like that boosted my spirits. Caught my Shiny Pidgey in a good ol' Pokéball and then carried on playing the game. I wanted it to be untouched and it still is, I like having my shiny Pokémon 'mint'.

 

On the original Silver, I was training for Ash/Red when I ran into a Shiny Ponyta--I got it, but it has since gone to the Void of Deletion

 

The first time I saw a shiny I wasn't super sure as to what it was. It was a shiny Hoothoot in the safari zone in Pearl or Platinum (can't remember which). I saw the stars and thought there had to be something special about it, and I noticed the colour difference, but I didn't have a huge reaction. The two shiny encounter following that were a different story.

 

I got a shiny ralts on platinum in, no less, than Redscizor's trailer as we were camping. I was hatching a team on gen4 to train on gen5... I thought it looked funny but didn't mention anything and like 5 minutes later looked back at it and asked is ralts' horn supposed to be orange? Red's like its shiny! I'm like whoah! Whats that mean! ... I was naive then lol

 

My first shiny was encountered on my BROTHER'S game, his Platinum. He asked me to catch a wild snover and he said it was a different colour, I thought it was weird and said that it was a shiny. I tried to catch it for him, but failed miserably by fainting the Pokémon 😅

 

Now sadly my first ever shiny meeting was only a couple months ago where I stumbled across a shiny eevee in Pokémon X. The first thing I did was show everyone!

 

I was pretty surprised and a bit excited when I caught my first shiny around seven years ago in Ruby. I honestly was a little disappointed though since you could barely tell the difference between a regular Phanpy and a shiny one. The only reason I knew it was a shiny was because of the stars that came up at the beginning of the encounter. I was glad when it evolved into a Donphan and there was actually a noticable difference with the brown trunk and all. Now that I think about it, I was lucky it didn't run away since that was in the Pokémon Safari Zone.

To this day, that's the only legit shiny I've ever caught... xD

 

Oh, I should also notice my second and third legit shinies, because those were also really special.

I didn't get my second legit shiny until X&Y. And the shiny was: A Bunnelby. And not just a Bunnelby, no, it was the Bunnelby that Serena caught in the freaking tutorial! I raged so hard!! I actually dropped by 3DS on my bed, and walked out of the room, because I was afraid I'd break my 3DS out of anger xD

My third shiny was a way better experience. I wanted to use a Gallade, so I caught a Ralts, put it in the DayCare, and hoped to get a male Ralts. First egg, female. Second egg, female. Third egg, fem-OMG IT'S SHINY!!! Appearently, my chances on getting a shiny Ralts were bigger than the chances on getting a male one xD I was so happy!
(Unfortunately, a few months later, I traded it away for what I thought was a good deal... But it turned out that my trade partner was lying, and I kind of just gave her away... I never used the GTS ever since that moment)

 

So my first shiny was a Geodude in Platinum. A freaking Geodude.
I was excited to have gotten that shiny. I'd never had one show up before, and I'd never traded for one or anything, but they'd been around a while and I'd heard a lot about them, with the game I got it in being fourth gen. The excitement didn't really last though. I hate Geodude. I never use them. So I caught the shiny and everything just to shove it in the PC to never see the light of day. Basically, I ended up just wishing it'd been a different Pokémon. :/

 

Ok so my first legit shiny was Ditto in XY.

I was chaining with poke-radar so i go to the Pokémon Village, run in the flowers without repel and a wild encounter with Shiny Ditto
I was like: Ooooooooh *a long gasp*, it was so hard to catch since i didnt have Fast Balls and my Crobat was also a couple of levels up of Ditto, so it was hard to catch it.

Today i still have the Shiny Ditto there in the box, planning maybe to use later in battles.

 

To the red Gyarados in Crystal, I think I went 'Huh. That's different.' I then fainted it.

My NEXT attempt at catching the thing in Soulsilver was a little different. I actually got it in a net ball and boxed it for about a year.

Then, when I happened across a Pidgey, I was sure to catch it straight away without inflicting any damage. It was only level 2 and my Pokémon were too strong.

 

I've never encountered a shiny other than the Shiny Gyarados at the Lake of Rage

 

I don't remember it too much. It was pretty exciting though I think. I did know it was a shiny. As for my X/Y first shiny, at first I was kinda scared since it came out of no where, and it was Swadloon which looked like a zombie.

 

Back when my brother and I used to play Pokémon together, I was playing a copy of LeafGreen which he gave to me when suddenly a yellow Growlithe appeared.
Then I called my brother and I was like "Big brother, come here for a sec! What is this? Why is this thing yellow instead of orange? DID I BREAK THE GAME??"

I didn't know the importance of a shiny Pokémon back then.

He came over and when he looked at the screen, he gasped but quickly recovered, then turned to me and said
"Nah, it's nothing to worry about. Hey, how about you catch this one and trade it for that Pokémon you wanted so much?"

And of course, me being a gullible little kid I was, gave it to him for a Lv. 40 something (I couldn't remember what it was)

 

My first Pokémon encounter that was shiny was a poliwhirl and I wasn't expecting it. Here is how it was, I was just walking near a lake with grass when I reached the grass my encounter begun and I couldn't believe my eyes what i saw, it was a shiny poliwhirl and I freaked out like crazy and sent out my pikachu which used nuzzle which put it down and paralyzed so I took a Pokéball( I had over 300) and kept throwing them until beep pit stopped shaking and caught it. I was happy with my poliwhirl ever since then.

 

I actually caught three shinies in Pearl within a day, and the first one was a shiny Geodude. I actually didn't even realize that it was shiny, I just thought for some reason that maybe it was a different form of sorts, like how males differ from females sometimes. Now I actually know and I facepalm every time I think of that. *facepalms*
