What were you doing when Diamond & Pearl came out?

When it first came out, I didn't have a DS yet, I think. It was a while ago. I didn't know about even training until I tried facing the E4 with a lvl 95 Infernape and constantly getting thrashed.

 

I don't remember when I got it. I only know it was the same year. And I still don't understand EV's or IV's and I don't bother learning about them.

 

I think I waited a couple years before I got both Diamond and Pearl. Because I only remember myself playing Pearl just until I defeated the Elite four and just getting the 4th badge when Heart Gold and Soul Silver came out and my focus turned over to them. I basically just trained in game and battled their trainers. I'm not much of an online battler. I don't EV train so those who do, kick my butt all the time.

 

I remember frantically looking for Diamond on the DS shelf of Best Buy (as I had just got a DS, and only finding copies of Pearl--I found Diamond copies the next shelf down

 

What was I doing in D/P? Being a shitty trainer when I started out, that's what!

I know I wouldn't be the same without Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. I'd never owned my own Pokémon game before Diamond and Pearl- just played on the games of friends. Anyway, so Diamond was my first real game. And well, I was terrible at. I only used my starter really haha. I struggled with the Elite Four because I only used my Empoleon. He was a high level, but if he ever fainted I was done for because every other Pokémon was like level 30. I think my original team was like.. Empoleon, Pellipper, Tentacruel Dialga, Chingling and Abomasnow loooool.

Platinum was what really turned me into what I thought was a good trainer. When I got it, I looked back at my Diamond game, thinking about how I only focused on my starter and how bad it was. I pledged to use each Pokémon equally, and I've been doing it ever since. Before every gym, I level all my Pokémon up 5 levels and have them all at the same level. They'd usually end up being 3 to 5 levels higher than a gym leader's Pokémon.

Anyway, without the Sinnoh region games, I'd probably still be a shitty trainer.

 

I personally started battling competitively and posting videos to youtube. Sadly those videos no longer exist as they would be fun to watch for nostalgia bt yea it was a great time. I got Diamond and Pearl First day

 

Well, I was about six years old, so, I guess I was doing whatever I did before I knew what Pokémon was. Being six...

 

Actually, when Diamond/Pearl was being released, I remember my mom told me I was too old for Pokémon and that she wasn't going to accept me playing it with her in the room, so I forced myself to lose interest. Then I bought Diamond and got totally addicted again, so I played in secret. XD I didn't really catch on to all the changes, though. Diamond was the first game where I completed the national dex cause I was very dependent on the GTS.

Hah, yeah. I was. I discovered D/P (and therefore Pokémon) in '06 though, so it couldn't have been too long after it came out.

I was still playing Sapphire when it first came out because I didn't have a DS yet. I didn't really care that much about the DS Pokémon games because my 10 year-old self was busy completing the Hoenn dex and beating the battle tower.
But when my brother gave me his DS, Platinum has just come out that time so I played it almost every weekend. I never managed to complete the Sinnoh dex, but I got all of the symbols in the Battle Frontier.

 

I mostly battled my friends after school and sometimes battled on Saturday when we had basketball practice.

 

When DP came out...I was frantically looking for a Diamond game since I didn't want to be teased by my guy friends with getting a pink girly Pokémon game. (I desperately wanted to be manly back then. XD Can you imagine that, with the things I draw?)

...I got a Pearl in the end since the Diamond stocks were out and they wouldn't come in another week. Papa didn't want to go back to the shop to get Diamond. I was too young to be buying my own things back then. Grade school.

As for playing Pearl...I did what I normally did with my other Pokémon games. The Wi-Fi thing didn't really work out for me back then since Wi-Fi wasn't really common in the Philippines at that time.

 

When Diamond and Pearl came out I was still fairly new-ish to Pokémon. I went through the entire game with just my Turtwig and beating Cynthia with just my Lv. 65 Torterra. After that I just kept collecting Pokémon, and my boxes in DIamond were almost full. So yeah, that's what I was doing in Diamond and Pearl.

 

Diamond and Pearl actually was in stores on the day of my birthday, so I hope I would get it. Long story short, my family is bad at taking hints and listening to me, because I asked for the game. Twice. So I didn't get it, but I have played it.

 

I had only know Pokémon for a year when Diamond and Pearl came out, so I had been obsessing over the cards during that time. 8I

 

Uh, playing Pearl LIKE CRAZY!!!! My first game and I logged over 1,000 hours on my first profile Ah, memories....
