DO NOT ACTUALLY GIVE ME YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER

Man, these days, there are so many scams going around. I remember back in the day, when I was very young and dumb, I almost fell for a scam where I could "win $1000 in just a few steps."

Then again, my aunt fell for a credit card scam with a super high interest rate. I mean you cannot trust offers that easily nowadays!

Anyhow, what about you guys? Have you fell for a scam? Perhaps you know someone who has.

When I was younger, I interpreted my parents telling me not to click on those scams on the side as "You don't need that money." I was a little kid, so of course I "needed" that money. I was about 10 years old when one day I decided to try to earn money and sure enough, my computer got a virus. Luckily, my older brother fixed it and told me to never trust the scams again (I'm glad he didn't rat me out to our parents). I haven't trusted ads of any sort since then, and I hope you don't blame me because I was 10 years old.

My email is truly a highway for spam. Everyday, more than 25 emails worth of spam enters my inbox, claiming that I can earn over $1 650 per hour online. Off course I do not trust these, but this spammer is very clever, writing in a way to convince us to open up the box.

I'm not sure why people intend to send viruses to other computers going by their daily business. I can say that this spammer is making himself quite obvious, sending so many emails in a short amount of time.

I have gotten the ol' Nigerian scam, a couple of lottery ones, and more recently pharmacy scams. Needless to say, they all get deleted.

    I think that's a reverse scam.

    Just kidding!

Those scams all come from your email? Yikes! Looks like I got to go through my spam folder and do some deleting!

I was lucky enough to be kept off the internet until I was old enough to develop paranoia so that I never fell for scams.

And my spam folder in my email has never received even one mail, to my knowledge. Lucky!

...But if it did, I'd probably do something like this.

No.. I was always pretty wary either way. That and I actually never ran into too many of these as a kid since I visited mostly harmless websites where any sort of message like this one would be taken down before most saw them.

But I did do many free point offers in an MMO I was addicted to quite a while back, and because I had to use my e-mail to be eligible for points it's now flooded with tons and tons of daily spam lol. I stopped logging into it six or seven years ago after it became unusable with scammy messages like these. B[ Lesson learned!

At first, when I read the title, I thought this was a stab at BiohazardSr.

I don't get much crazy scam-spam, just things I sign up for because places ask for my email address and I don't care. The tux rental place, the place I get my car's tires changed, old workplaces. Boring stuff trying to get me to open credit cards with them.

Oh, and Red Cross. I gave blood a few times. And then the spam started. For a while I would get five phonecalls a week asking for more blood. I still get emails occasionally, even though I haven't given blood (to them) in like two years. If you ever give blood to Red Cross, then go ahead, that's great, but for the love of all that is holy DO NOT give them your phone number or email address. You will regret it if you do. (One time they called me to beg for more blood while I had one of their needles currently in my arm and I was bleeding out for them. I was this close to ripping it out and walking away.) What kind of a scam is that? Instead of asking for your personal information, they ask for your lifeforce; and instead of promising to get you money, they promise instead to give you warm-fuzzy feelings, and really you get fatigue and exploding phone instead.

My social security number is 54a76mkdfj3092 plz dont steal

Honestly, I've never fallen for those scams, mostly because my parents warned me about them pretty well. I do get curious at the obvious clickbait viruses sometimes though. I mean, somebody out there one day might actually find the one food you shouldn't eat on your diet or the simple trick to visibly reduce skin aging and that poor guy is never going to get anybody to listen to him.

I've gotten a lot of prostitution offers and penis expansions. They really just take email addresses from wherever, don't they?

Lately, some of my spam emails didn't even bother looking authentic: I've gotten some that say "##emailprefix##: they're not even bothering with the targeted stuff.

I do have a funny story to share though: someone I knew received an authentic-looking statement that they had been "negligent driving a car" [sic]. Yep, it looked like a police fine, except it was written so poorly, English was clearly not the any language of the author. I used that as an example in a Computer Science assessment on phishing.

I feel like the only one who doesn't get spam email? Like at all? All I get are facebook notifications. That said, I wouldn't mind hot russian girls looking to date me.

I'm someone who trusts people way too easily (I instantly believe everything people tell me, no kidding), but I don't get fooled by those spam messages anymore. This wasn't because I had fallen for a scam or anything, but it was because I had seen a crime series in which an episode featured such an ad. In that episode, I learned about the (often Nigerian) scammers behind these tricks. Since then, I have never considered those ads you find anywhere on the Internet to be the truth.

Also guys, I have a very smart trick to avoid spam in your inbox: just create a second email address and use that email to register yourself at websites you have to login to but aren't very important. Only link the really important things (such as school or your work) to your main email account. I mean, if you know it's not important, then there's no need to read it. Getting those messages would soon become an annoyance (at least to me it is)
Thanks to this, I never have to worry about any spam because I can just ignore the messages in my second email account!
