When Did You Begin Your Internet Journey?

I first used the internet when I was 11 years old. But my journey began when I was 13 due to depression. It was from everyone's now favorite media community, YouTube. I've met up with a lot of friends and discovered my passion for drawing and video making. Through out then, I discovered many more web pages like DeviantArt, Photobucket, Facebook, Tumblr, and etc. For Facebook, I've been mostly playing Farmville, and Dragon City. And then, I discovered Fanfiction and found another way to show my story-like skills. And finally, someone introduced me to Lake Valor and the rest is history.

 

YouTube was my first social media site too. Oh sweet lord, how I made a looooot of friends, and some really awesome ones too.
Sadly, I don't talk to any of my YouTube friends at all anymore, but the memories will last my entire life time.

I used the internet when I was 7 or 8, but I started using YouTube when I was about 9 years old I believe? That's when it all started.
Back when YouTube was simple and awesome.
Bulletins, Steams where people can join and chat with each other while watching YouTube videos at the same time, AN ACTUAL PM SYSTEM...
Everything was so simple yet so amazing back then.
I got into video editing a lot too, I used to make a ton of AMVs (usually Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, or Naruto based, sometimes some other things too), and I still watch them from time to time for fun. I sometimes wish I could go back to video editing, but it just wouldn't be the same.

Aside from YouTube, I also had a MySpace account (yes, a MySpace account). I didn't use it much though.
There was also GaiaOnline in 5th grade, oh maaaaan that brings back memories. I used to be the shit at Gaia. Apparently a shirtless avatar with golden tattoos all over your body makes you many friends, mainly girls lmao.
There was also "The Rally", where you could race cars against people, I used to be reaaaaaally good at that too so I was praised from time to time. It felt nice lol.

After Gaia and YouTube, I joined Facebook near the end of 7th grade. From 2010-2013, I used to use Facebook very avidly and almost daily (or whenever I could).
As of today, I barely check Facebook anymore because not much interests me now, aside from the occasional funny video on my news feed.

But yeah, got a little off-topic there haha.
But I've been on the internet for about 10+ years now, but only really "started my journey" on Jun 14, 2007. Well, that's when I registered my YouTube account at least, didn't start using it until around October 28th or 29th if I remember correctly (yes, I remember the exact date).

 

I can't remember, to be honest. I was about 11ish.
The first site I joined was Howrse (I was quite horsecrazy then), I ended up deleting my account, but I've been back twice.

 

I don't think I qualify as "someone with an internet journey", simply because my parents don't let me have my own computer and I can't be online 24/7 (if I did have my own pc, I would do that for sure).
The moment I realised how much fun playing on the Internet was, was probably when I was eleven. My mum finally allowed us to play a certain child-friendly game (which was meant for 8-year-old kids, but I didn't care back then). From that game, I went on to Habbo and some social games on a gaming site (I was about 14 back then - please don't kill me! >_<). At the end of second class, a friend of mine told me about a Pokémon rpg game she had found on the Internet. I think both the child-friendly game and my years of playing on the Pokémon game were what got me started on the Internet.
Only if I had a mum with a different attitude to get myself a computer I can use full-time... >_<

 

I remember seeing friends getting sucked into youtube and I didn't want to get that addicted, so I avoided watching tons of stuff on it for quite a while. Facebook was there, but I never really posted at all. It wasn't until lake valor that I'd just chill on the internet for longer periods of time. That would be almost 3 years ago! And then when I got my laptop at the start of summer the internet was like a permanent resident, skype always open and always looking at everything and playing everything online. Good times though

 

I started out on the internet in a fanfiction site, actually. I really didn't use it before then; I had a facebook but I really didn't and still don't care about it. Then, I found a user on the fanfic site that had a bunch of typography videos for some pretty good fandom music, and I got hooked on YouTube. I don't really do anything social on youtube, I just kinda watch all sorts of videos. I'm not as much into AMV's and typographies as much anymore, I mostly watch funny stuff like Nostalgia Critic, Zero Punctuation, JonTron, Critikal, and Markiplier.

I made a deviantart account at about the same time as I got on the fanfiction site, but I didn't use it much. I posted some Pokémon sprite silliness and random sketches. Then, Ashe contacted me through a pm on deviantart and I found Lake Valor. It was during a christmas event and I was a bit overwhelmed, so I kinda left. I found it again in about february of 2014 and participated in a fakemon competition. That was when I really got hooked on this site, chatting with others and participating in events, and later becoming staff.

Most recently I've continued my internet journey with creating a tumblr. I don't like a lot of things I see about the site, but I surround myself with comedy and science blogs so I don't see the drama very often at all.

 

I started really using the web around 10 or 11, I think. I frequented youtube a lot, wandered onto FF.net and promptly got addicted, visited the standard flash gaming sites (armor games, miniclip, etc.), and the rest is history.

 

I discovered how entertaining the internet could be when I started using it to play Neopets and watch YouTube videos when I was around 6 or 7. We only had one desktop, so I didn't get to use it often in between having to share it with my brother (who was usually allowed on the computer more often than I was because he's older) and my mom. But as soon as I got my first laptop for Christmas when I was 10, I had more time to explore the web and ended up discovering forums; not long after joining my first one, I made a lot of buddies and decided to keep looking for more to join for a while after that. I also discovered more sites that I liked to visit just for fun, and became a pretty dedicated web surfer after that.

 

Probably back in 2003 when I started using Neopets! I was 13 at the time and I mostly played the games. It wasn't until I was 15 that I joined my first forum. It was good but I misbehaved a lot and got banned.

 

I got hooked to the internet back when I was 7 years old. My internet time per day was limited by my parents but I always looked forward to using it. I really loved playing flash games like those you see in y8!

 

Now that i think about it i was probably 6 or 7 when i started really using the internet. I believe i was going through a phase of watching a lot of Lego animation, then that got me hooked on youtube and it all started from there.

 

I decided to begin my internet journey several years ago, some months after I'm browsing in the cyber cafe, because I find that there are so many fancy stuffs for me to download, even though I can't save all of them because of the Floppy Disk's size... That time I'm there for limited time because I have to ask my parents to go to the cyber cafe, and in short time, I browse through YouTube, downloading some videos, searching some info and more, to the point that I was printing my to-do-list when going there. At this time, I also going online via mobile as well, even though it's a bit costly.

At the end of 2012, when I already have a pretty good internet connection (even though I have to look on the quota), I have decided to join a certain Pokémon forum after lurking for quite a long time, and it's also my first forum for me to attend, so my online journey really started since then.

 

Oh tis was a great adventure. It was the year of 2008, it was a great year. A year filled with watching Pokémon let's plays, and well, club penguin. That was all until the great year of 2010. Now, my friend decided to introduce to the world of Facebook. Granted, I knew what Facebook was in 2008 due to a Google search of my teacher at that time, but my friend compelled me to make a Facebook account in the year of 2010. Now. Cafeville was the bomb, and farmville, and mallworld. Oh my oh my was MallWorld my favorite Facebook game being a very tiny girl. Anyhow, those games pulled me into a vicious cycle of the internet with me adding a bunch of my school friends and some fake celebrity accounts to further my very game-addictive internet life.

 

Man, I don't remember when I started haha, but I'd say maybe round the age of 11? Even then that was only really for research and stuff, but a few years later I started getting into a sight called TV Tropes. I saw a friend of mine use it fairly frequently, and eventually even I got into it. It started out with me only reading the content, but then I started participating in Headscratchers and even created the Warframe headscratchers section later on.

Eventually, I started visiting the PS (which kinda ended quickly haha, I wasn't too fond of it) which was where I was invited to this site.

It took me a long while to properly get into the internet, I wasn't too keen on the idea of visiting it initially haha, but I got there and it's now a valuable asset to me!
