I'd actually agree with this sentiment. MK8 is a very good game, don't get me wrong, but the gameplay is also very samey, and not a lot of things get mixed up. With Splatoon 2 (and the original Splatoon by extension, though I know that's a moot point now), there are a lot of small things to customise and edit, to make your character something unique and special. It isn't just the weapon choice that matters (even though that's a huge factor based on the online mode you're playing); even small things like choice of gear/clothing is a factor.

I think Splatoon 2 gives you a lot more to do as well, and keeps things fresh and exciting as it does so. Plus, Splatoon meme posts are hilarious.

 

I know I voted MK8 DX, but I'm super indecisive and could've picked Splatoon 2 out of a 50/50 chance.

become a squid. While MK8 is super fun, i personally had more fun in splatoon when i tried out the demo for 2. Really though, cant you just buy one now then save up for the other one later?

I would say Splatoon 2! The first game is fun, so the second one should be even more fun. I also have Mario Kart 8 (the pleb one), but I find myself having longer play sessions with Splatoon that MK. And they're currently releasing free DLC for Splatoon 2 and have monthly events for it.

I'd get Mario Kart myself, but my opinion is probably biased, since I only play racing games. Lol

 

There is no "just" when it comes to Mario Kart.
