    As you may (or may not) know, in one of my Sun and Moon playthroughs, I had a male Popplio that A: did not evolve and B: crushed the Gyms and Elite Four. I am now playing Pokémon Diamond, and used a Turtwig. I did evolve it into a Grotle, however, my plan is to have a Grotle in the Hall of Fame, and so I have not had a Torterra for the rest of the game and hit B whenever it evolves.

    Who else here has never evolved their starter past a certain stage?

    It's happened twice for me. Both with fire type starters.
    Fennekin got evolved into Braixen but then I never evolved it past that.
    Litten stayed as litten. It was sorta more like my mascot Pokémon for my playthrough. Sorta like Ash's pikachu!

    I have never done this, but my brother did in BW2 with his Oshawott because he is obsessed with the thing. I mean sure it's cute, but...

    kudos to people who do this, because I always feel the need to evolve my starter because I feel like it's going to be weak otherwise. u.u

    then again, if I ever replay Gen II, I'm thinking of sticking with a Quilava and just not evolving it into Typhlosion because I like Quilava better.

    I think it was back in like 2008 or 2009 when I first used a starter and never evolved it. I was really inspired by a youtuber at the time called 'Spirit of Gold' (I think it was him anyways) who did a Piplup solo-run. Soooooo, I basically just did that as an eight year old. I never regretted it because piplup was so cute! Heck, if the anime could do it, so could I. Plus, it wrecked with hydro pump.

    I've never kept any of my starters unevolved, although I really wish I had done that with my Snivy in White. Serperior was a bit of a letdown tbh both design-wise and in battle. Ended up boxing it latter on in the game.

    Unless it's something like Slowking with an ability that makes it useless compared to its previous evolution, I don't keep Pokémon unevolved very often. Or you have a Pokémon bred and trained around using Eviolite. I keep Eevee unevolved sometimes because Eviolite, Adaptability, Return, and a STAB priority move in Quick Attack make it pretty good, and Eevee's super cute and I love it. I've never kept a starter unevolved before though.

    Usually Pokémon who have a special item at thei're first or second stage, like Pikachu.
    Every other Pokémon I'll most likely evolve to it last stage.

    I don't like most final evolutions so i usually leave a Pokémon how they are. sometimes i even leave them in the middle stage like ivysaur for example.

    I've never made it to the Elite Four without having my started fully evolved. Although I did someone regret evolving Dartrix into Decidueye when I was playing Sun because the change in type suddenly made it almost useless for the rest of the game and almost impossible to send it out without getting KO'd quickly.

    There's only one time I didn't evolve my starter and that was a long time ago in a casual playthrough where I decided to not evolve any of the mons I used. They ended up in hall of Fame even if it Cynthia was a though fight with only basic mons.
