With songs that are produced, there comes those who "cover" these songs soon after. Covering a song is essentially redubbing it with your own voice, some can be quality or needing work... I'm certain you've heard one or two before! But have you ever run into a song that was covered and it was just sung...better by someone else? And no matter how well the original was made you always found yourself liking a cover better? Or even a song where you hated the original but one cover made you love it? Some people even cover songs with different instruments, like pianos or acoustic guitars!

There was a Vocaloid song I heard called Outer Science by IA and produced by Jin, is a classic favorite of mine yet despite how great this song is... IA's voice seems to lack power to me in the song and every cover I've heard sounds beautifully toned and powerful. Here is the original:

    compared to Amatsuki's version:

What songs have you listened to that you enjoyed the cover more than the original and why?

I have sooooooo many of these I could post, but I'll post the most recent one I found.

The original song I always tried to stay away from, just cuz, but the cover actually made me like it.
The song I'm talking about it "Chandelier" by Sia.

The music video is still weird as hell though...

    As compared to this version:

I enjoy Pvris a lot, but regardless even if I didn't, I still say Pvris did a better job at Sia's song that Sia did lol.
It just sounds like it has more energy to it than Sia's version, and the music video isn't weird either. >_>

The song "Hanging Tree" as sung by Jennifer Lawrence is alright, but to me it lacks a certain atmosphere that I feel the song needs in order to feel deep and powerful. Her voice doesn't really change throughout the song, and the only thing that gets added is a background chorus and a string part. It's good, but when the lead singer doesn't change at all throughout a song it just feels lacking.

Thankfully, Peter Hollens did an acapella version that improves it tremendously. He starts low and controlled, and "builds" his voice as the song progresses. Also, every sound is made by the human voice. That's just awesome.

I don't listen to covers that much, but I have found one that I like WAY better than the original.

Toxic by Britney Spears, while it's not bad song, there's just something I don't like, mainly the high voice in some parts. Blowsight's cover fixes that problem, and changes the songs genre to rock from pop, which I enjoy more.

I found it when I was watching different AMVs so I figured I'd post that here.

This one may be a tad controversial.

In my opinion, this is one of the few times that the cover is better than the original.

I'm talking about Behind Blue Eyes by The Who.

Compared to the (arguably better) cover

Yeah, both are amazing. But I still think that the cover is, and always will be better than the original. Not to take anything away from The Who or anything, they're pretty great (One of my fave bands even.)

    Refuse/Resist by Sepultura

    Here's the cover by Hatebreed:

Now in my opinion, their voices are very monotone and almost always sound the same. This is exactly like their other songs, no inflections in their voice.
It's heavier, which I like though.

I like their voices better for this song. Chaos AD is one of my fave albums too, so that could be a bias. I also like the music too, it has a better intro I think.
