I would say Magikarp. I mean sure its pretty useless but at least it has the epic evolution line going for it!

Stakataka is pretty underrated. It is literally the best Trick Room user in existence, has massive defense, good coverage, great attack and pretty good special defense. All it needs is a better typing...

Muk, Furfrou, Noctowl, Kingdra. All are beasts if used right in competitive, and totally demolish in regular play throughs.

I'm sorry, but why on earth did you say Noctowl can be a beast? It is a little bit bulky, but it isn't overwhelmingly so, and its speed and offenses are lackluster. Its movepool is pretty bad too. It really only is viable at all because it has the ability to use Hypnosis, and even that is only 60% accurate. I agree on the other three, but I don't understand.

Well with the correct nature it certainly can be viable. In my Heartgold run it came in clutch more times than I could count. Of course, I don’t mean it’s a beast because it can sweep entire teams or anything, but it can certainly do its damage. And the argument you’re making is the exact reason why I consider it underrated :D

Almost anything is viable in a run through if you level it up enough. And there is a difference between bad and underrated: Underrated is when it is not valued and is actually pretty good, while bad is when it is not valued because everyone knows it isn't good. Noctowl is bad, because it can't do anything to a team of equal levels to itself unless it relies on pure luck. It doesn't have good stats, abilities, moves or typing. It can at best defog some spikes away (which other mons do a lot better) and get one toxic off before it faints. That is not very good.

Well, regardless, I’ll stand by my point. Noctowl is one of my favorite bird Pokémon, and even if it’s bad in your opinion, I’ll still see it as a great Pokémon, at least for regular runs. I don’t do competitive battling, so I don’t really care for how viable it is in the scene. It’s just a cool Pokémon I really like, that’s all.

That is fair. I like it too, I just don't think it is really underrated. To each their own.

People think Whimsicott is trash when they see its stats. Then they face Prankster Whimsicott with Leech Seed and Substitute in competitive

Sawsbuck it's fun to use in game , has a cool design (especially Winter), very unappreciated by Game Freak though (like seriously only 2 cards and almost no merchandise) T_T
Also Skitty, it's a lot of fun in game and while Normalize is one of the worst abilities eever the other 2 abilities it has are good and I like the interesting movepool it has and also Assist is so much fun to use omg

I can't/won't speak for any Pokémon in the stats department, since I'm not at all into the competitive scene, but Durant seems really underappreciated despite having an awesome design. Even most other 'underdog' Pokémon have their shares of people who like and notice them, or notable in-game NPCs that bring them to the forefront by using them, but mentions and fanart of Durant (the Pokémon and not the basketball player) seem to be pretty few and far between.

    Porygon.

I've only recently used it in my somewhat competitive teams, but man I don't think this thing gets the credit it deserves for the world of hurt it dishes out as Porygon-Z.
