Whether your young, or slightly older, we're all gamers. But then, here's a question I'd like to ask - why do you play video games? Why plug much time into them? For you, do they hold similar values like music, art, or any other sorts of activities you do? Feel free to share all stories~

    Because they are my life!

    Well when I was young, I often get really lonely whenever my parents are at work and my grandma mostly focus on my siblings; also, I hardly had any friends during that time. So to entertain myself, I spent a lot of time playing video games and they are a lot of fun to play with. Whenever I play them, I feel like I'm a part of their story and keep on playing it for hours and possibly days. xD Plus, they also take away my stress and cheer me up whenever I get depressed... But yeah, that's why I love video games ^^;

As an older veteran that started gaming in the NES days, I'm amazed at what has happened, and am excited at what is still to come.

But games are near and dear to me for another reason--I live with a disability that paralyzed my legs, so gaming allows me to do things I am unable to do or would have difficulty doing in real life--like driving, dancing, running, and jumping, to name a few examples. It's also very therapeutic--which is not surprising since the Wii has been used for physical therapy.

I have made a ton of friends thanks to gaming. and it doesn't even have to be a multiplayer match--sometimes we just talk about the characters and the worlds.

I personally love the interactivity factor of a video game. Just being able to do (mostly) what you want at any given time was magical to me in my younger days. Of course, I still think that today to some extent, but overall, I play because I love the feeling. That, and I have no social life so I got nothing else to do...

I play them for fun, and as an escape for the real world. They're very dear to me, especially Pokémon.

I play them mainly for fun. I enjoy a good video game (who doesn't?) and I love to spend hours on end just playing games. I will get bored of games if I play it for too long, though. Games have had impacts on me. Whether it be a change in my views, or a life lesson taught to me, I just wouldn't be me without them.

I play them to have fun, be competitive, and develop achievements... even if they mean nothing in society. The same reason I play video games is the same reason a person may play a baord game, card game, ping-pong, pool etc.

I play video games partially because I see them as a form of art. It's a combination of music, visuals, and the element of user control all working together to provide the player with an experience. In a way, it's similar to what I try to achieve through my writings. Games give me an experience and tell a story, and that's art to me.

The biggest reason that I really play video games is to escape from the real world, just like my reading and writing. The real world sucks sometimes. The fantasy worlds promise a happy ending and good experiences where you can keep retrying if you fail, while the real world promises nothing and brutally punishes your unchangeable mistakes. These fake video game worlds are good to immerse myself in to forget about all the real world troubles for a while and to just relax.

Video games were one of my earliest hobbies, so that's probably a big part of why I play them. I like the art factors of games too though, especially when it comes to characters
Games are also a great way to make new friends, which is reason enough to keep playing uvu

I play video games to see a different perspective and to get away from real life. I've always used video games as an escape from my real-world problems and it helped me breathe easier. It gave me more reasons to think about problem-solving. There's so much that goes into games, I love to think of the mechanics and just wonder, how did the creators come up with this? I really want to know. I just enjoy the game and it calms me down.

They are fun to me, and they get me away from the problems I have at school. Not only that, but I think they keep me from getting into trouble.

To experience cute things and enjoy a fun story, mainly. :'] I adore cute games and they're my primary interest! Nice to be able to grow a character and get attached to them as the story progresses. Games aren't so much a time-burner for me as they are something that makes me happy, even if it's briefly since my attention span is bad.. </3

Besides helping me killing free time, and all their fun you can have playing solo or with other people, making friends etc... It's for me and for a lot of people a way to evade reality, to travel into another dimension... I don't know it's weird to write but it's this feeling.
It's the same as for books or movies, but in this case you can participate entirely in the story. And at the same time you can learn and grow as a person I think.

I just play them solely for fun. Video games aren't really an escape for me or anything, they are just super fun and I've met a ton of cool people through them. I think I owe video games a lot for helping my imagination grow. You won't find the same kind of magic in a mobile phone, folks!

i guess they started out as a hobby for me, then really served as something to keep me occupied when I went through a few patches of feeling alone. Like Ben, the games I've played have certainly cultivated my imagination, and definitely influenced my writing. Not only that, but they're also great for keeping you occupied when you're on the go, and it's too dark to read a book or do something else.

I think I play games because I'm looking for the best way to feel myself immersed in other universes. I believe games we play bring us something in the end (of course I talk about accomplished games with scenario, I highly doubt candy crush can teach you something useful except good observation :D ). Following this kind of aspect, the game where I'm the most immersed is my (or one of) favorite.

I play video games because they're fun. That's honestly my only reason for playing them, and it's always been the only reason. I find them to be an escape from a dismal world of stress and unsatisfactory stories--fictional realms of adventure, love, and drama are more enjoyable than taking out the garbage :P

When I was younger, I'd play games because they were fun. That was it. As I played more and more, as I got older, I developed problems in my life outside of the screen, so I turn to gaming as a stress reliever or something to keep my mind off of something that's bothering me. I think it's a great hobby to take up.
