Why do you think the fifth gen games are often considered the worst?

I think people don't like the Gen 5 games because of the Pokémon. And I have to admit, I'm not a huge fan of a couple of Gen 5 'mons either. I don't think they're the worst though. In fact, I think they might be near the top of my favorites list.

 

Probably because of the new Pokémon introduced, I suppose. They're not bad though, though I agree some of them are rather interesting haha.

 

I think the reason is because they are so different. The previous games were HeartGold and SoulSilver which were simply remakes, and the game before that was Platinum which was just a special version of Diamond and Pearl. So, fans were enjoying no change for a while. Then Black and White changed and everything was different... the graphics, battling appearance, etc. And drastic change leads to lots of complaints, haha.

I agree the generation has some pretty weird-looking Pokémon. But so did all the other generations... I'm sure people complained about the Pokémon in other gens too, but got used to them Besides, I love most of the gen 5 Pokémon, as with any other gen ^.^

 

You always hear people who complain, complaining about the Pokémon, that's all the complains I ever hear at least. I don't agree though, a lot of Pokémon from gen 5 were cool.

 

I'm a big fan of generation 5. I think people dislike it because they wanted to have the use of old Pokémon and such. Also, it could just be based off of the few strange Pokémon like Garbodor and Vanilluxe (I have no problem with them).

 

I heard a lot of people complain of Gen 5. But i ENJOYED GEN 5 IT Had a feature named memory link which other game don't have. Yeah maybe it was because of Pokémon.

 

I think it's because Black and White only had Gen V Pokémon to catch and use. It forced you to use these new Pokémon, which not everyone likes as much. I personally thought they were great games, but I can see why they're considered bad.

 

I, personally, really like 5th gen's Pokémon. Excadrill for example became an instant favorite. However... the games themselves didn't give us much past battling and story. A lot of cool features from previous games like berry growing and secret bases were online ONLY features, as were basically ANYTHING fun, and the only diversions in the game were basically more battling and that crappy Pokémon Musical BS. Also, the gen's villains. I hate stereotypical animal lover/misanthrope villains.

I also dislike a lot of BW fans I've met who when I tell them I didn't like the 5th gen games, they come up with all these excuses as to why I'm not entitled to my opinion like "You grew out of Pokémon," which is a lie, and "Oh, in-game features are too hard to make/everyone has online now," and such, despite the fact that the 6trh gen games actually have in-game diversions. While I don't think they're as good as 3rd or 4th gen game diversions, they're still more fun than "Pokémon Musical."

To be honest I think Gen 5 is amazing, Gamefreak took a step out of the comfort zone with this generation, creating unique Pokémon, a direct sequel game, Pokémon fusion, the concepts were amazing, I hope we see another Generation similar to 5, in the future and the hate is just a group of people's opinion.

 

This might just be me, but what makes a Pokémon game great, is the soundtrack, and 5th gen has the least memorable soundtrack of them all, there's literally 3 songs I can remember at the top of my head, Castelia City, Route 10 and the Bike theme while I know by heart all of 4th gen's soundtrack(my favorite gen).

 

Honestly from what I've seen people complain that the Pokémon weren't just creative enough. That being said the hate is always directed on two of them. Vanilluxe and Garbodor. Amazing huh?

 

Gen 5 is one of my favorite generations, but I think the fact that you could only catch new Pokémon for the first part of BW turned a lot of people off. A lot of people didn't like a lot of then Gen 5 designs either, even though a ton of the Gen 5 Pokémon are some of my favorites.

 

Honestly, I think the games are amazing, however the anime took a huge downturn. (Well, expect for the songs and N, but he still wasn't what I expected). I think some of the hate for the game came from the hate of the anime.

But still

 

Looking back at it, I really am dumb for thinking these were the worst games. The games were very interesting and honestly one of the most influential games with the introduction of hidden abilities, unlimited TMs, triple battles, and so much more! I think it was because of these new changes that somewhat turned people off, especially with unfamiliar Pokémon that were "forced" upon them.

 

These games were two of my favorite games, and i really loved everything about them. But i guess not everyone liked the way that you could only catch gen 4 and below Pokémon post story (butt that was one of the best parts in my opinion)

 

Eh, people didn't like it because of how they were "starting over" at the time by not having any of the National Dex Mons available until the post-game. On top of that, there were no new evolutions of older Pokémon (like it was necessary at the time anyway). Mayhaps some were annoyed that there were two generations in a row on the same handheld. I actually enjoyed Gen V a lot, regardless of what others say or think.

 

I believe it's due to two things:

1) The new Pokémon designs weren't stand-out to a lot of fans. I see many complain over having a garbage bag Pokémon, ice cream Pokémon, and so on (yet most of those people seem to forget that we didn't exactly get good Pokémon in the first few generations either.. lookin' at you, Grimer and Voltorb line).

2) The graphics didn't improve much. Put D/P/Pt and HG/SS next to B/W/B2/W2 and you won't see much of a difference. The fifth generation could've passed as being part of the fourth generation. They were limited with what they could do since both the fourth and fifth generations were on the Nintendo DS so I never did expect much of an improvement graphically, though I did find B/W/B2/W2 wonderful in that department.

One of the main issues about this is the look of the Pokémon. Sure, they made a BUNCH of Pokémon, but
the ice cream Pokémon? HUH? the garbage Pokémon? HUHH? These problems are going on xD
