Marill could had actually been inspirted by the tooth fairy, who is rumored to be a mouse.
Also, I dont see how marill is girly, and how fairies in general are all girly? Its kind of offensive, since some fairies are actually male. Please don't group all things into 1, as it could make some people offended. :o
And I don't really see how Marill is girlish. Looks pretty balanced to me, could appeal to both boys and girls.
Though, this is just about opinions, I just wouldn't say fairies/marills in general are girlish, since opinions can differ and offend. Alas though, this is only my 2 cents, xD.

Also, you both doubleposted, which is making a post right after another post you've made. Unfortunately, this is against forum rules. :c
Next times though, can you click the "Edit" button? Its at the bottom right on your post, right by the "Use Full Editor" button. ouo
There isn't really a punishment for double posting, but its just better to edit your post and add in what you need to, c:

And this topic seems more fit as being put in the X/Y section. Since this seems like a topic about a type in Pokémon, people wont think this is an introductory topic, sadly. ono

Next time, its good to make sure your topic sounds fit for the right place. For example, if your topic's name is Favorite Bug Type, you shouldn't put it in WiFi. Why not, you may ask? Its talking about bug types in general, so you should put it in General discussion.
You should read this tutorial: http://lakevalor.net...-posting-sense/
It tells you a bit about posting on the forums. Hopes this helps! ouo

I know, but I think that his gender looks about even. But alas, these are only opinions and 2 cents of ours, so it doesn't really matter. :o

I think Marill is a Fairy Type merely because GameFreak thought the type fit. I'm sure they'll be trying to put Fairy on as many old monotype Pokémon as they can.

I wouldn't typically think of Marill as a fairy type, but I guess it made sense to the creators of Pokémon.

I actually have another reason, but it doesn't answer why Marill in particular got the Fairy Type. It's just a reason as to how it works.

Marill is a Water type, as you very well know. There are actually mythological beings known as Nereids. What they are is female water spirits who the caretakers of bodies of water. They could be considered to be somewhat like fairies, and that's how a Water type Pokémon could be one. I do, however, think it would be cooler for them to eventually make another Water/Fairy type and base it on Nereids.

Like I said, there's no way that's the reason for why Marill is Fairy type, as it's not really the caretaker of anything, but that is a good way that a Water/Fairy type Pokémon could work.

I don't really see it looking that much like a fairy... I still think that when it comes down to it they just want as many Fairy types as they can get right now.

I don't see Marill as a Fairy type. It just doesn't fit for me. I think it's gender neutral, and Fairy gives me the instant impression of GIRL. I don't think it looks like one, either. I think it looks like a Water type and nothing more.

Because it's in the Fairy egg group? So it's natural that it will gain a Fairy type. But that's not always the case because let's take the Dragon egg group for example; Salamence and Hydreigon are both Dragon-types and in that case it's natural that they are in that egg group (well except for Vibrava and Flygon). But there are Pokémon also in that egg group (like Scrafty and Charizard) but they aren't Dragon-types. So what I'm trying to say is not every Fairy egg group Pokémon will gain a Fairy type but Marill as of now appears to be part of the handle to gain that type.
