Why Mega Pokemon in Shuffle aren't boss fights.

So... I've been playing Pokémon shuffle recently a fair amount... and one thing has kinda bugged me. So, the mega Pokémon are meant to be like a 'boss battle stage' at the end of each area. The problem is that, from M-Mawile onwards, they should not be classified as boss stages. A boss fight is designed to test you, make you think through your strategies to defeat a tougher enemies, to challenge you by throwing in some random element you may not have expected and seeing how well you have adapted, or just testing you by putting what you have learnt so far into full action.

This is what Pokémon Shuffle DOES NOT DO! The problem with these boss fights are that there is a lot less element of skill or learning and a lot more focus on either getting extremely lucky or paying to get items that help you succeed. That isn't the point. The difficulty curve is way too high, which is something that I wouldn't expect from Game freak of all people, even if this game was designed to have microtransactions...

So, do you guys agree? Would you consider Pokémon Shuffle Megas a boss fight or a blatant money grab?

I wish they were boss fights but they are indeed money grabs. Not a surprising shift but a sad one nonetheless. I'm not terribly far into the game, I'm about to fight mega altaria

Oh yeah, I've noticed the harsh difficulty spike. I thought my troubles were over after Mega Mawile, but Mega Glalie was a wake-up call that this game isn't gonna get any easier, even with Mega Mawile. Disruption Delays are pretty much a must if you wanna beat these bosses, and +5 Moves usually are, as well. The same could be said for Keldeo, who's absolutely brutal compared to the other "Special" Pokémon we've had thus far, but at least battling Keldeo isn't necessary to beat the game.

Yea, I'm just stuck on Glalie... I feel like I need to use either M-Altaria or Kangaskhan but then they aren't super Effective like Lucario and Mawile, but thei'r abilities don't work well enough with the stage. And Keldeo is definitely harder than the other special Pokémon, even Raquaza was a breeze in comparison (Although I think that M-Kanga again would be really useful).

Yep, for sure they absolutely spike in difficulty and it really sucks. Since I'm putting no money into the game, I'm left with throwing my hearts into these uber-powerful Megas repeatedly in the hopes that I'll get lucky or farming for experience points will level up my support Pokémon enough. I think I've tried at least 12 times on Mega Gengar, and it's so close it's almost not worth paying the extra coins for the boosts.

This is why I really don't like Pokémon Shuffle. A Puzzle game is meant to make you think, and there is no thinking involved in this game. Even if you make all the right moves, you could still lose, and with the later boss-fights, the only way to win truly is to buy power-ups with coins. Really, the game is very mindless and has minimal strategy involved.

Of course, if their plan was to get me to spend real money just to catch those Megas or anything else in the game, it didn't work. When it comes to Freemium games, I'm too patient to buy what I can slowly farm in game for.

I only just reached the Mega Mawile stage and tbh it sucks. I can't win yet but it just seems like you need more luck then anything else to win the fight unless you got higher leveled Pokémon with you and I really don't like that since luck shouldn't be such a big factor. Although I do keep in mind that this a micro transaction game so is also meant to lure money out of you by being annoying in certain places.

I won't buy anything though, I rather use my money on something else plus the gem prices in Pokémon Shuffle are ridiculous. I rather wait till I have 5 more lives then try again or go back to older stages and level up my Pokémon.
