In the virtual versions of RBY the glitches from the original games were also included in the new releases. This meant that trainers could utilize the "Mew" glitch among with many others to get Pokémon they wouldn't normally be able to. You could also use glitches to get lv100 Pokémon faster etc. The original versions of Gold and Silver also had a few glitches here and there, one most notably known as the cloning glitch involving the game's save feature and the PC Boxes. If glitches like these work, people could be able to transfer multiple clones of Pokémon from those games to current ones like Sun,Moon, and the Ultras. Do you think glitches will return with the games, or will they be fixed for more proper gameplay? Do you plan on using or testing out any glitches as well?
For the most part it just seems that they have just been copying and pasting the source code from the original games and then just updating the interface to allow access from the virtual console. It is also like you just said, they kept the glitches in RBY, even the game breaking ones which you could only really encounter by trying to find them. So I wouldnt be surprised if they also left them in there.
I think they will keep glitches in these re-releases, considering the RBGY kept all theirs. Glitchy fun for all!!
Pretty sure they'll get the same treatment as RBY, why wouldn't they? The Gen 2 games hold the same nostalgia status the Gen 1 games do after all.
I can see them fixing the coin case glitch because it is incredibly broken and can cause the game to be completely broken.
Something to keep in mind about virtual console ports is that they're the exact same games as those on the original system. No changes have been made. (Right, Screwattack!? *Remembers how they trashed the Oracle games for being just like every other VC port*) As such, you can expect any glitches from the original to still be there.
I'm gonna guess glitches will still be in the game. It'll be funsies XD (Though I feel there might be a few safeguards transferring over to USUM to prevent abuse...)
Glitches...yesss...my precious... I assume that major, game-breaking glitches will be patched, but minor ones will be left in-maybe for authenticity? It'd be interesting to see what's changed! #MissingNo
What was the issue with the Coin Case Glitch? I've used it a few times and never had a problem beyond graphics being a bit off/discolored.
Admittedly I was never really interested in glitches when I played Pokémon games - or any game, for that matter - until some time afterward. See, I took computer programming classes in high school, and while my interests have since shifted I still find programming fascinating. Since glitches are basically loopholes in programming, they are extremely interesting.
Given the precedent with Virtual Console re-releases of many other Nintendo games (such as the original Super Mario Bros. retaining the infamous "Minus World" and "Stuck Underwater" glitches, and Duck Hunt perhaps also retaining its infamous "Round 0" kill screen glitch), and reports that the glitches were left intact in R/G/B/Y's re-release, I think it's safe to say that most, if not all of the glitches in Gold and Silver will be left in for tomorrow's VC release, though some might be more difficult to execute due to obvious differences between the Game Boy Color hardware and the Virtual Console emulation on the 3DS family.
Well, since the games have now been released, we can only just wait and see if any of the glitches are still in the VC versions. I would test it out myself if I had one of them, though I'm still broke lmao. I think it's most likely going to have all of the original parts to it, mainly like how the Red and Blue VC editions were
Yah which is sweet! I saw a person do my personal favorite glitch on them: Coin Case Shiny Maker Glitch
