There is no doubt, no hesitation that I'm going to get Fennekin. Normally I would go for Bulbasaur since he's my other choice, but I really like the way the new MegaEvolution of Charizard looks, and I'm pretty shallow. So, for you PokeMasters out there...will I be completely screwing myself over by picking two fire-types so early on or can I make it work as long as the rest of my team is balanced?

I've had teams of almost pure Dark Types that have worked out before. If you want the two Fire Types, it will work. If you're just going through it in-game especially. Just make sure you have some moves for their secondary types, and you'll be fine.

You can definitely make it work. Unless Gen 6 scales up the difficulty and mechanics (which I can't see happening) you'll be fine, the in-game Pokémon journey of the Pokémon games are such a way that you can be successful with pretty much anything you choose to work with.

Hey, maybe you can be a fire type trainer? Ahaha! But since this is just in game, go ahead! :) It might give you a challenge you never had before! ;) Mono-type gameplays are more common lately. But if you do get stuck, I am sure there are other opportunities besides type. You could always level the heck out of your starters.

It would bother me personally, but that's just because I get way too obsessive over having my teams well-balanced. Of course you'd be fine! Just be sure to train other Pokémon that are super effective against the things fire types are weak to if you're worried. You can get through the game with pretty much any set of Pokémon, as long as you level up high enough. Although with two fire types, I can't see you needing to train that much more, if any more at all, than a well balanced team.

    Yeah, I think you'll be fine. ^_^

Well.. if it becomes tough with having two fire types on your team. Just think of it this way! It'll be one good challenge :) I usually cruise through the Pokémon games so having a little bit of a challenge would be an awesome thing to have.

You'll be fine, i often have more than one water type on my team. Maybe you could use charizard for your flying (Hm speaking) Pokémon, and be sure to have a grass or electric type to handle water types. I'm still trying to decide if i will even use the kanto starter :s

Be careful of Team Flare, though. It seems they specialise in fire types so you'll definitely need Pokémon that can effectively down fire types but also guard your own.

It might actually be helpful to have more fire types for team Flare, as you can teach them TMs or moves of its second type (if it has one) and their fire attacks won't be very effective yet you'll still have plenty of moves to take them down. :D

If there were to be a team with two Fire Types and even just one Water Type, I think that would be enough to take care of Team Flare. The evil teams are hardly ever very strong as far as grunts go, and the bosses are about as bad as Gym Leaders. Just the type advantage should be enough to get an easy victory.
