We'll talk about ideas and stuff here. Here's a list of things we need so far:
- Rules: suggest changes if necessary
Current Rules:
RULES:

1. Write in 3rd person.

2. No killing or crippling (cutting off limbs, taking away powers, etc.) of NPCs or others' characters without their permission.

3. Swearing IS allowed, but keep it PG-13

4. No cheating. This includes (but not limited to):
>Use of weapons/powers not included in your original profile or that your character spontaneously obtained.
>Exaggerated or unreasonable powers/weapons; i.e. flames over a thousand degrees,
>Invulnerability is strictly prohibited.
>Immortality must have a minimum of 5 exceptions, then be approved by a Crisis Academy game staff.
>Dual elements are not allowed unless you have been given (without asking) permission from game staff or unless you are a Crisis Academy game staff (these characters have less strict power limits). If you prove to be a competent roleplayer who shows a genuine knowledge of what you're doing, you may be granted permission.

5. You cannot have a character that is crossbred with an animal, unless they are a centaur or satyr (this includes but is not limited to Nekos, Inus, Wolfboys, etc.).

6. Use "((()))" to write outside of the Role Play, like this: "(((You can write like this outside of the text)))"

7. Do not write with * to do an action. Write out the action.

8. Your character cannot be royalty unless you've been given permission from the game staff. If any of the game staff says no, the answer is no. There will be no "chosen ones".

9. This isn't a story, so you don't have to title your parts or break it apart!

10. Use proper grammar.

11. Do not purposefully bypass another player's post unless you deem it as cheating (in this case, report it to a Role Playing Moderator).

12. Do not delete your own or another person's posts without permission from a game staff. This can alter the events of the Role Play, and your action will count as cheating.

14. Post your completed character skeleton in the proper thread.

15. Only one pet per character. Two pets are allowed to game staff and those who have been given permission from 3 members of the game staff.

16. You may have up to four characters; however, you must abide by the following guidelines:
> To have more than two characters, you must get permission from 3 game staff members.
> The only relations between characters allowed are sibling and cousin relationships - meaning, no father-son/mother-daughter type of thing.
> Your characters cannot be love interests of each other.
> Your characters cannot be the same species.
> Your characters cannot have the same abilities.
> If one of your characters is fighting another player and you bring your second character in to help them so it's two-on-one without the other player's consent, it will be considered godmodding and you'll need to edit your post or it will be removed.

17. Do not control NPCs without permission from the game staff.

18. Posts must be at least three paragraphs, each consisting of a minimum of five sentences. This is a total of 15 sentences per post. This may seem daunting, but if the staff can do it, so can you.

19. Do not submit unfinished posts to be edited later.

20. Dress your characters for the time era. This doesn't mean you're required to wear a suit of armor and such; it simply means that there aren't any modern clothes yet (jeans, converse, brand-name sneakers, band shirts, etc. - those sorts of things aren't yet invented and therefore aren't allowed).

21. Your character must be completely original. They may not be from a franchise.

22. Your character may have a maximum of three weapons on them at a time.

23. Write "Eda is marvelous" so that we know you read the rules.

TIPS
Being a "chosen one" does not grant you any other powers or more significant strength than any of the other students. As such, it is recommended to avoid using titles similar to these.
Use sensory details (sight, hearing, taste, touch, smell).
Include your character's verbal and non-verbal responses to situations
> Satix's stomach churned.
> "That's not swaggy," He murmured.
Show - don't tell.
> "No," Satix said angrily.
- V.S. -
> Satix pressed his lips together tightly. His hands balled into shaky fists. "No."
MRUs - Motivation-Reaction Units (Definitely recommend taking the time to read this next bit):

"The Motivation is objective but it is something that your character can see (or hear or smell or taste or feel). You will write this in such a way that your reader also sees it (or hears it or smells it or tastes it or feels it). You will then start a new paragraph in which your POV character does one or more things in Reaction to the Motivation. There is an exact sequence you must follow in writing your Reaction. The sequence is based on what is physiologically possible. Note that the Motivation is external and objective. The Reaction is internal and subjective. If you do this, you create in your reader the powerful illusion that he is experiencing something real. Now let's break this down into more detail . . .

The Motivation is external and objective, and you present it that way, in objective, external terms. You do this in a single paragraph. It does not need to be complicated.

Here is a simple example:

The tiger dropped out of the tree and sprang toward Jack.

Note the key points here. This is objective. We present the Motivation as it would be shown by a videocamera. Nothing here indicates that we are in Jack's point of view. That comes next, but in the Motivation we keep it simple and sharp and clean.

The Reaction is internal and subjective, and you present it that way, exactly as your POV character would experience it – from the inside. This is your chance to make your reader be your POV character. To repeat myself, this must happen in its own paragraph (or sequence of paragraphs). If you leave it in the same paragraph as the Motivation, then you risk whip-sawing the reader. Which no reader enjoys.

The Reaction is more complex than the Motivation. The reason is that it is internal, and internal processes happen on different time-scales. When you see a tiger, in the first milliseconds, you only have time for one thing – fear. Within a few tenths of a second, you have time to react on instinct, but that is all it will be – instinct, reflex. But shortly after that first reflexive reaction, you will also have time to react rationally, to act, to think, to speak. You must present the full complex of your character's reactions in this order, from fastest time-scale to slowest. If you put them out of order, then things just don't feel right. You destroy the illusion of reality. And your reader won't keep reading because your writing is "not realistic." Even if you got all your facts right.

Here is a simple example:

A bolt of raw adrenaline shot through Jack's veins. He jerked his rifle to his shoulder, sighted on the tiger's heart, and squeezed the trigger. "Die, you bastard!"

Now let's analyze this. Note the three parts of the Reaction:

Feeling: "A bolt of raw adrenaline shot through Jack's veins." You show this first, because it happens almost instantly.
Reflex: "He jerked his rifle to his shoulder . . ." You show this second, as a result of the fear. An instinctive result that requires no conscious thought.
Rational Action and Speech: ". . . sighted on the tiger's heart, and squeezed the trigger. 'Die, you bastard!'" You put this last, when Jack has had time to think and act in a rational way. He pulls the trigger, a rational response to the danger. He speaks, a rational expression of his intense emotional reaction.
It is legitimate to leave out one or two of these three parts. (You can't leave out all three or you have no Reaction.) But there is one critical rule to follow in leaving parts out: Whatever parts you keep in must be in the correct order. If there is a Feeling, it must come first. If there is a Reflex, it must never come before a Feeling. If there is some Rational Action, it must always come last. This is simple and obvious and if you follow this rule, your Reactions will be perfectly structured time after time.

And after the Reaction comes . . . another Motivation. This is the key. You can't afford to write one perfect MRU and then be happy. You've got to write another and another and another. The Reaction you just wrote will lead to some new Motivation that is again external and objective and which you will write in its own paragraph. Just to continue the example we've created so far:

The bullet grazed the tiger's left shoulder. Blood squirted out of the jagged wound. The tiger roared and staggered, then leaped in the air straight at Jack's throat.

Note that the Motivation can be complex or it can be simple. The only requirement is that it be external and objective, something that not only Jack can see and hear and feel but which any other observer could also see and hear and feel, if they were there.

The important thing is to keep the alternating pattern. You write a Motivation and then a Reaction and then another Motivation and then another Reaction. When you run out of Motivations or Reactions, your Scene or Sequel is over. Don't run out too soon. Don't drag on too long.

Write each Scene and Sequel as a sequence of MRUs. Any part of yourScene or Sequel which is not an MRU must go. Cut it ruthlessly. Show no mercy. You can not afford charity for a single sentence that is not pulling its weight. And the only parts of your scene that pull their weight are the MRUs. All else is fluff."
- Character Skeleton: suggest changes if necessary
Current character skeleton:
Name:
Username:
Age:
Appearance:
Race:
Pet:
Pet Powers:
Alignment:
Element:
Powers:
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Bio:
Theme Song (Optional):

If you're like most people, you probably didn't understand quite a few of those areas, but that's what the tutorial is for.

Name: Your character's name.

Username: Your username on this site.

Age: Your character's age.

Appearance: Your character's physical appearance, everything from a basic description of your character's sexiness/ugliness to a magnificently detailed description.

Race: No, not white, hispanic, African American, etc. This is the species of your character! Skin color belongs in the Appearance category.

Pet: Your character's pet, if they have one. If you're a staff member or have been given permission by a staff member, you may have two pets per character.

Pet Powers: Any powers your pet may have, be as creative as you want!

Alignment: This is the one that gets most people, but it's really quite simple. Is your character good, bad, evil, in between, etc.? That's what we're looking for with this category!

Element: Your character's primary element, pretty self explanatory.

Powers: Where your true creativity shines. Go all out with this, it's fairly simple! Just list your character's powers and weapons! Be creative!

Strengths: What areas are your character strongest in? Where do they specialize?

Weaknesses: What is your character weak in? What are they bad at?

Bio: Another place to be creative. Your character's bio is their back story.

Theme Song (Optional): Your character's theme song. You don't have to have one if you don't want one.
- Eda's Inhabitants: We need a lot of species for Eda. This section will be divided into two sections: playable species (the ones your characters can be) and non-playable (the ones that your characters can't be). For the playable species, there must be at least five ways for immortal species to die. Each creature will need a description, so this will be a lot of work and help will be greatly appreciated.
- Locations: This might be more work than Eda's Inhabitants. We need to come up with quite a few locations for the RP. These will include kingdoms, wonders of the world, forests, rivers - any place you can think of. Be creative as possible with these! Almost anything can be explained by magic.
- NPCs: The NPCs will need a lot of work as well. We're going to need: royalty (kings and queens and such), council members (we have most of these already, but we could do with a few more. The council members are the most powerful in the land of Eda), Cipher members (see below for an explanation), etc.
- Magic: Suggestions for more spells/magic.
Current spells:
All spells are based on the four classical elements plus a fifth general kind of magic that include miscellaneous effects. Also, their names all derive from five different languages.

General Spells are in Latin,
Fire Spells are in Afrikaans,
Water Spells are in Italian,
Earth Spells are German, and
Wind Spells are in French.

Feel free to browse this section for information on academy taught spells or spells you or other students may know. You cannot use any of the spells on here unless you learned it in magic class or through another method that's approved by Crisis Academy staff.
Thanks and enjoy!

General Spells

- Lux (Light) – a short burst of light fills the immediate area. It brings light to a dark location or temporarily blinds the foe, based on the level of intensity.

- Invisibilitatem (Invisibility) – for a short period of time, the user becomes invisible. This does not apply to any items or clothing the user may be wearing.

- Sum Folium (I Am Leaf) – the user transforms into a simple maple leaf for up to 24 hours. Useful when in need for a "clever disguise."

- Lustrare Solida (Traverse the Solids) – the user gains the ability to walk through walls, physical barriers, etc. This ability lasts for only a short period of time.

- Domino Uisum (Master Eyesight) – the user gains the power to look through solid objects. If concentrated in an open environment, the user can see a very far distance. The ability lasts as long as the user does not blink.

- Lanuae Magicae (Teleport) – the user gathers solar energy slowly before releasing it in a thin beam of light to teleport back to the Academy. Since it makes use of the sun's light, it can only be used during the day and takes 1 to 2 hours to recharge.

- Pondus Scopulus (Boulder Weight) – the user inflates their body into one that resembles a giant boulder or enormous balloon. Their weight, in turn, is quadrupled, but this state only lasts for a few seconds.

- Animationem (Animation) – an inanimate object of choice is brought to life for a short period of time. The object, however, may not move on its own.

- Vaecordem (Infatuation) – the target of this spell instantly becomes infatuated with the user, regardless of gender or sexuality. The spell wears off when the target goes to sleep or is immersed in water.

- Cerebrum Verto (Brain Swap) – the target and user temporarily switch bodies. This extends to the knowledge and memories learned by the target and user being switched, but neither the target nor foe can use abilities. This spell lasts until either the target or user sees their reflection.

Fire Spells

- Vuurbal (Fireball) – a ball of fire is generated from the palm of the user's dominant hand. The ball is the size of a basketball, is about 1365ï‚°F (741C), and released after about three seconds. A recharge time of about half a minute is mandatory.

- Ontploff (Explosion) – the user concentrates all his/her energy on one inanimate item and forces it to burst into flames from within the center after about one minute. The result is a mini explosion and charred object.

- Vlammenwerper (Flamethrower) – a jet of extremely hot fire is released from the user's fingertips, mouth, or nostrils. The flames may only be conjured when the user's energy is high and their element has no relation to water, and is not under the effect of any other potion/spell.

- Kook (Cook) – the hands of the user glow a faint red and gain the ability to heat up objects to about 500ï‚°F (260C). Useful for cooking food or boiling water on the spot.

- Vlam Immuun (Flame Immunity) – the user gains the ability to withstand harsh flames of any kind for a very short period of time. This also includes walking on hot object or swimming threw magma, but requires much more energy for the latter.

- Blus (Extinguish) – the user slowly soothes and extinguishes natural fire (not conjured by others) that their mind concentrates on.

Water Spells

- Sfera Dell'acqua (Water Ball) – using an exposed source of water nearby, the user can form small unstable balls of water the size of baseballs and hurl them at any target. The more balls formed, the more energy is needed.

- Respirazione Acqua (Water Breathing) – the user gains the ability to breath under water. When used, no other spell can be used in conjunction with this spell until Respirazione Acqua wears off after an estimated time of thirty minutes.

- Camaleonte (Chameleon) – the user is able to dissolve their body into water. The effect wears off after only a few minutes.

- Vortice (Vortex) – when used on water more than three feet deep, a medium sized whirlpool is formed. Amazingly, only a small amount of energy is needed to create the vortex.

- Lingua Acquatico (Aquatic Language) – the user gains the ability to speak to fish, whales, and other aquatic animals, as well as understand their responses. This spell uses little to no energy, but for some reason, does not work at night.

- Congelare (Freeze) – if the target is water, it will begin to freeze. Bodies of water such as whole lakes may only be partially frozen. If used on anything other than a liquid, the user's body slowly begins to encase itself in an icy shell.

Earth Spells

- Erde Aufgeteilt (Earth Split) – from between the user's feet, a somewhat deep, jagged fissure forms. It is uncontrollable and unpredictable. This spell takes a relatively large amount of energy to conjure.

- Tropfstein (Dripstone) – Depending on weather the user targets the ceiling or ground to use this spell, sharp stalagmites or stalactites jet out from the location. These formations are fragile but hefty, and conjuring this spell is energy heavy.

- Tarnung (Camouflage) – like a chameleon, the user absorbs the color from the environment and blends in a similar way. This also applies to clothing. The effect wears off whenever the user wishes, but drains energy until the user cancels the spell.

- Heldstärke (Hero Strength) – the user gains unfathomable strength with this spell by inflating their muscles with the earth's power. The user's speed is cut but their weight is doubled, not to mention a huge increase to their muscle mass. This spell only lasts as long as they take no damage. This spell cannot be used in combination with the Erde Rüstung spell.

- Erde Rüstung (Earth Armor) – the user transforms their skin into scales made of thick, sharp stones, boosting their defense significantly. Their weight is doubled, speed is cut, and the spell only lasts as long as the user does not attack. This spell cannot be used in combination with the Heldstärke spell.

- Schwebende Steine (Levitating Stones) – out of thin air, four sharp pointed stones of various sizes is fabricated. These stones float in midair and spin at a dizzying speed. They can be hurled one at a time, but require even more energy to do so.

Wind Spells

- Tourbillon (Whirlwind) – the wind is shifted into a funnel so a small, powerful whirlwind may be formed. Using this spell requires a relatively small amount of energy.

- Boule de Vent (Ball of Air) – a thick, formless force of air is released from the user's mouth that is so powerful, it can cause the foe to fly off the ground or even rip skin. After this spell is performed, the oxygen levels for the caster are completely depleted and cannot be replenished for one minute. After that minute, oxygen levels will slowly increase over a two minute period before returning to normal.

- Brouillard Blanc (White Fog) – after using this spell, a white mist begins to form over the target area, allowing for a surprise attack or quick escape. Using this spell requires little to no energy at all.

- Vitesse Lisse (Sleek Speed) – the air around the user becomes light and smooth, allowing the user to move faster than usual. This spell requires little to no energy at all.

- Volant étant (Flying Being) – the air around the user creates a small pocket that allows for short periods of flight. The spell can only be used around a relatively empty space, however, and this spell takes a fair amount of energy to cast.

- Poids Plume (Feather Weight) – the air around the user is absorbed into their own body, making their being fifty percent air. Their weight is reduced by half and allows for a floating-while-falling effect. This spell takes a fairly small amount of energy to cast, but only lasts for as long the user can hold their breath to trap in the air.

Background information:
• Caelnirr - Previously an organization; now a kingdom. Caelnirr is composed mostly of humans; though, there are several other species among their ranks.

Here's my ideas for how spellsinging (and possibly other magic) could (reasonably) work:

--Every minstrel (and those trained to spellsing by a minstrel) has their own unique spellsong. What this spellsong can do depends on the context and the performer's mood
--In the same vein, those that use an instrument to perform a spellsong must play the exact melody of their spellsong--just noodling around on the instrument won't do anything
--Spellsong, like most other magic, takes a little of the caster's strength. While you can't die from using magic, it is possible to exhaust yourself to the point of death. Magical fatigue is different and takes longer to recover from than physical fatigue.
--When magical fatigue sets in depends on the caster--a new apprentice may burn out in 20 minutes, while a seasoned archmage may not feel the first symptoms for several hours.
--Some examples of spellsongs:

Jao wiisha nes chiel com yutuul...
Furiya, shuru shamato...
Karuto, iichida shou...

That sounds pretty great! I'll make sure the other Eda team members see this. Thank you!
I edited the post a bunch to be more detailed, it was originally just something I sent over Skype.

This is looking super cool so far :3 I like the spells area that you added. It's a pretty unique idea.

Are there going to be any more kingdoms other than Ciph? If so, maybe there could be some rivaling kingdoms. Rpers could choose which kingdom they could make their character in. It could allow room for them bickering/fighting one another or some other form of conflict. Maybe there could be like..mini plots or something that they could come up with or something.

And as you know, I am still up for doing stuff for the Undead area :D If I need to come up with descriptions and whoever their leader/ruler/chief is, I could do that.

My only question is the ability of the spell songs. Like, are they elemental, or do they manipulate the surroundings?
Yeah, there are gonna be a lot more. I'm gonna be editing the main post as we get more and more ideas for each subject. I haven't finished the description of The Ciph yet. They need a lot more plot and depth because they're one of the most important ones, and the council, while not a kingdom, will need a ton of work too. There'll be a few kingdoms that form alliances with The Ciph, usually to take out rivals and possible threats.

You can be totally in charge of the undead area.

For those who don't know, The Ciph are the main antagonistic group of Eda. Humans will only be able to use magic, and not have naturally occurring abilities like many of the other playable species will (side note: all playable species will have life spans of anywhere from two hundred to thousands of years). The Ciph will be made up of humans, and species closer to humans (this may include "slave species" - it's controversial but we'll have some plot for this later). Not all humans are a part of The Ciph; a majority are not.

The Ciph's goal is to wipe out any other species or kingdoms they deem unnecessary, threatening, or impure. While they may kill or destroy a majority of these, they take some prisoners for experimentation. Some of the humans that belong to The Ciph have abilities like the naturally occurring ones. They obtained these through successful experimentation and as such have a "natural ability" as opposed to using magic. Those with "natural abilities" have higher up positions in The Ciph. The lowest rank with these abilities would be those who lead the different platoons of The Ciph's army (one of the most organized and powerful in Eda); though, I'm currently thinking it would something like this in terms of rank would be pretty nice (not trying to be accurate - this is all fiction).

"God" > Execution Squad > King & Council > General > Scientists > Captain > Lieutenants 1 & 2 > Prince

The above ranks are the ones who have "natural abilities".

"God" is the true leader of The Ciph. He's the most powerful member in all areas, and is only a self-proclaimed god. He does the behind-the-shadows work and pulls all the strings.

The Execution Squad directly obeys "God's" orders. They are the most elite soldiers, each possessing enough intelligence and combat ability to surpass even the king. They are primarily used to kill off any higher-ranking members who have somehow gone against The Ciph, whether it be a moral violation or direct betrayal. Their existence is known only by "God".

The king is the secondary leader of The Ciph. He handles the direct work, deals with the subjects of The Ciph, and is in immediate control of all ranking below him. He works with the council to make executive and military decisions.

The council is a group of soldiers with an undying loyalty to The Ciph and tremendous power. Each has approximately equal strength to the king. They work with the king to make executive and military decisions.

I'll finish this up later but if you have any thoughts so far or for the future let me know.

Sis and I were discussing ideas about a bunch of elements and stuff for the RP. Mainly elements and species.

What about these species?

Elementals
Dragons or Draconians
Demons
Wizards/Witch
Holy Knight
Healer
Shape shifters

Healer: They are the only ones that could heal. And their healing ability damages the undead. Even though they focus on healing, they can still own weapons and clobber people with them.
--- Another good thing to note, Undead are technically dead creatures thus meaning they are technically immortal. Now a Healing character can actually have the possibility to kill the undead because healing something that is dead would destroy them.
--- Healers are Healing based only.

Holy Knight: They have a light ability which influenced by the sunlight and their beliefs. They can damage undead beings, such as vampire or demon. (Holy Knights battle demons all the time. And Vampires are classically killed by the sunlight.) However their ability of light can be dampened by storms and night time. (Being that the sun isn't out)
---- Holy Knights can only be Light based.
---- Just like a healer, they have the ability to kill off an undead creature due to their beliefs and the power of light.

Draconians/Dragons: They are dragons but can take on the form of a human-looking creature. THOUGH! They are still a dragon, weigh like a dragon, and can still hit like a dragon. If not Draconians, what about dragons in general? They can be just ordinary large dragons that cannot shape shift into anything. They are a dragon with four legs and huge teeth. XD

She insisted on this one: If they are half human half animal they cannot have animalistic senses. So that means a person who is half wolf, cannot smell out enemies. WOLF DEMONS ARE NOT A MYTH! NEITHER ARE CAT DEMONS! If a character is a demon or undead being, they cannot have animalistic properties, such as super smell (wolf), super speed (cheetah), super hearing (bat). It would be considered as a living property. Thus not really being considered dead. so they cannot make a wolf-demon or a cat-demon.

Abilities

Metal ability: Can summon metal from the earth or whatever metallic objects are around. However, this does not mean that they are immune to electricity and fire. They are still fleshy, thus electricity can still zap them. And fire can still burn them/melt metal on them.

Healing: Healers can heal but not revive the dead. If they revive a dead person, that would mean that they would have to sacrifice their own life to save that other person's life. As for healing, bigger wounds require the use of more of your own energy compared to minor wounds.

Electricity/Storm/Light: They can create electrical storms. However they must remain focused on their ability thus allowing them to be attacked easily. So it would be best if they were in the defense (farthest away from the fight). Electric users can absorb a certain amount of electrical energy and convert it to their own attack. Sapping electric energy would also require focus.

Illusions: Could be classified as a water ability. However, it takes energy and focus to create the illusions. The illusions are capable of delivering damage to people depending on the users; own strength, opponents ability and strength, and their own focus.

Earth: Can they have super strength?

Sound: Would it be classified under Air ability?

Shape shifting: Would this be allowed?

They are mainly elemental in nature, but some of them can manipulate the world

To name some examples:

Rou iitsa ron selga vichii... is a water spellsong, so in addition to casting water spells, it can grant magical breathing to the spellsinger (and any allies if the spellsinger is powerful enough)
Karuto, iichiida shou... is a wind spellsong, so it can speed allies up or enable them to temporarily fly in addition to wind spells

Background of what happened with Rikkus:

Throughout Eda, an anxiety had spread; though, for most, it was just that — an anxiety — the fear of a threat that isn't there. This seemingly distant threat was a species of creature known as the Calaendara, who demolish the mind of their prey. Very few survived encounters with the Calaendara, and those who did were usually left with a shattered and distorted reality, as well as an intimate fear that never left the back of their minds.

Selena Nakamura, the queen of Rikkus, had been one of these survivors. Her thoughts, feelings, perceptions, and reality had been consumed, broken, and replaced with distortions only a couple of years before the Massacre of Rikkus. She was incapable of explaining what had happened after her experience, and it was only with the help of Eda's best healers that she regained even a shred of the consciousness she had prior.

After her encounter, she was often seen mumbling and whispering manically to herself, and weaving shadows into stars only to immediately destroy them after. She rarely had moments of clarity, but when she was sober, she spent much of her time with her children — telling them the few stories she remembered, singing the same tunes, and constantly checking their surroundings for safety's sake.

When she was not with her children, her time was spent pleading with Aeson, her husband and the ruling king, begging him to lock her away, as he had adamantly refused her pleas to end her life prior. Her most constant and concerning worry was a simple one: "I'm going to hurt someone."

Despite her constant pleading, Aeson refused to seal away his wife. The thought of doing so shook him to the core, but had he known what was to occur, he would have listened. He would have leapt at the chance.

Unbeknownst to all but her, Selena received many letters in her sober moments. They would appear in a whirl of stardust, and as soon as they were read, they would simply blow away as they had appeared. The letters were from a man named Caelides, who claimed to know of her condition and spoke confidently of a cure. His silver tongue worked wonders, and he soon had her clinging to a blind hope of sanity.

Eventually, the letters remained long enough for Selena to respond. And after that, the messages began to show up more often, especially when Selena was lost to the world, wandering in her insanity. Their claims grew bolder, and their notions more wild, but to the crazed queen, they were the only chance at sanity she had. Her sane-focus gradually shifted from spending time with her children to working out the cure for her condition with the faceless Caelides.

As months passed, they developed a plan that would allow them to meet — at first, they had fated to meet outside of the kingdom, as Selena still had the sense not to bring danger to her loved ones, but as the letters from the Silver Tongue continued, her will dwindled, and then collapsed. An agreement was made to meet within the walls of Rikkus's castle, and thus began the Massacre of Rikkus.

Caelides was a powerful man, capable of going wherever he wished for the most part; however, he could not move himself where he was not wanted — provided it did not infringe on his domain. He made a simple request of the dear Selena, and that was only to request that he visit so he could heal her ailment. With great enthusiasm, she did so.

On the day of their meeting, Selena waited atop the roof of the keep, her heart so obviously stitched to her sleeve. The air before her shimmered, and the stars themselves seemed to bow to the guest who had appeared before her. When Selena saw him, her heart wrenched.

Caelides had not come to meet with the queen alone. He brought with him his closest companions — a group of five — a small, but very effective, group of five. Within each of his companions, Caelides had placed an orb of his making. Every one of these orbs was crafted to expand and consume the area around it, with no distinctions between friend and foe. The Silver Tongue began his work, calming the queen's frantic worry, assuring her that they were here to help, and as he did so, he dispersed his companions throughout the kingdom with a similar manner to his arrival.

And thus began the Massacre of Rikkus.

It took only an instant, but to the people of Rikkus, it lasted and still lasts without end.

The ground and sky themselves seemed to have split open, soundlessly gorging themselves on whatever could fit into their awesome maw. Structures that took years to craft disappeared in seconds, leaving frigid, glossy craters in their wake. Lives that had burned so brightly were snuffed out like they had never shined in the first place. Tears that should never had been shed, and screams that should never have echoed filled the night sky. And, time that should have passed seemed to remain suspended.

With a groaning sigh, it was felt to all who still remained that life had resumed once more.
Selena, shocked into a state of sobriety, helplessly looked about her. The marvelous city of Rikkus was gone, potted with five tremendous craters that now made up the ground. The river that ran between the waterfalls had begun spilling out, already filling the craters, drowning the less fortunate Shades who had been unable to escape after the initial tragedy. Only the castle was left standing.

Selena turned to Caelides to ask the only question one could fathom to ask in such a state of stark disbelief. "Why?"

The Silver Tongued, in all his power, gave her a glorified smile. "Well... It's because..."

His smile briefly disappeared as he shrugged. "I don't remember. I think... I was bored."

As he uttered the words that shattered Selena's already damaged mind, the smile returned to his face. He watched her fall to her knees with immense satisfaction, and then, for the sake of his own entertainment, whispered in her ear, "The kids are next."

Instantaneously, Caelides was thrust backwards. Thick, dark tendrils ran through his body, entering through his back and worming their way out through his front. The Silver Tongued's gaze lowered to his chest. With an amused expression, he tapped a tendril with a finger. There was no resistance — it simply burst, and faded away.

Aeson's face twisted into a grimacing visage. The man who had ruined the kingdom that made up his family was going to ruin him, too.

As Shades can, Aeson fell back into the shadows, melting away, and rising again from his beloved wife's shadows. He softly placed wrapped his arms around her. His voice hardly a whisper, he managed, "I got them out, love. They're safe."

They shared a final smile, and, just as had happened with their city, their legacies too, were ended in a single, soundless instant.
