Would you rather have a show overstay its welcome or end too soon? Of course, we'd all rather have a show actually go for as long as the creator initially wanted it to so it can have a proper beginning, middle and end, but let's face it, a lot of the time, we're not so lucky. Lots of great shows are either canned before they can reach their full potential due to a lack of ratings or they become so popular that the creators have no choice but to keep them going and going until the world finally loses interest. Which of these two scenarios would you rather deal with? I used to prefer a show ending too early simply because at least that way, you don't have to invest nearly as much time into it. Nowadays, I think I'd rather have a show overstay its welcome, because that way I can honestly say it at least reached its full potential, and if it starts suffering from seasonal rot, I can just pick a specific point and pretend it's the series finale. So, yeah, which would you rather have?
As much as I want shows to go on for as long as possible, new ideas concocted by the writers is not infinite. Even if ratings for a specific show are pretty high and all, it'll come to a point where new storylines will not be so believable. Sure, there's times where it's worked out in plot twists or how unexpected they may fool everyone.
I see where u are coming from but i disagree I go with the overstay coz we all know that everything has an end to it and as long as its a good end then the series was a good one!
