I've noticed that some people draw from their wrist, their arm, or a combination of both! Which are you? Do you think one is better than the other? I think I use a combination of both. I mainly draw with my arm when I'm making circles. Easier to make something that is similar to a perfect circle. I draw from my wrist when I do everything else.
I've never thought about it before. I only know that I draw from my arm when I draw circles, but I can't say for sure about everything else. Now I'm curious. I'm going to have to pay attention next time I draw.
I use my wrist. I'm very conscious of this because my friend, one of the best artists I know (she's AMAZING seriously), strongly encourages using your whole arm to draw. It just feels uncomfortable to me, though, so I stick with my wrist.
I am more of a wrist drawer because my elbow is a little shit and in the past sometimes locked up so I am hyper-aware of how I position it and know that I need to let it rest when I draw.
I use my wrist mainly. When I used to draw/paint big pieces on large paper I'd use my arm and sometimes my whole body but I dont have the time/resources to do that anymore.
I tend to favour drawing with my wrist over my arm. It feels much more comfortable that way. If I'm drawing straight lines or circles I prefer to use my arm though, only because the lines come out slightly straighter than they would with my wrist.
I haven't really thought about it before, but I think it depends on what I'm drawing and what I'm drawing on. if I'm drawing smaller stuff or even just drawing on a regular sized piece of paper (which is most of the time) than I think I use my wrist more. When I'm drawing something on larger paper then I think I use my arm more, particularly on the longer lines and larger shapes.
I draw with my wrist, though I've been trying to change that so I'm drawing more with my arm. I hear drawing with your arm can help prevent injury or strain, and makes drawing longer lines much easier.
Yeaaah I’m kind of living proof of that good ol carpal tunnel. I guess it’s kind of like how writing with your whole arm is better too
