How many of you suffer from writer's block? How often does it occur and when does it occur? Does it happen when you're coming up with a plot or character development or maybe just detailing, really anything?

How do you deal with Writer's block? Or maybe you just don't? Maybe you try to find inspiration or maybe you just abandon the piece entirely?

What are your thoughts on writer's block and what advice do you offer to those who suffer from this?

I'm actually suffering from Writer's Block right now with the writing prompt #5 which I intend to do and use in my application for the Writer position again. Also, as somebody who writes for the school paper, I have to find something to write an article on. It can be kind of hard, but I can pull through with it. Giving up is how you DON'T become a better writer. So even if it's a bad idea, hopefully it will improve your strength as a writer.

I have a really weird form of writer's block. I don't usually lose motivation to continue my work, my overactive imagination actually overwhelms my brain with new story ideas that randomly inspire me. It's pretty bad, since I can be typing away at one thing one day before getting distracted by the new idea(s), leaving the old work to molder.

If it's writing that I've actually produced in the physical world, it's very difficult for me to give up on. I might set it aside for months (like I'm doing now, oops), but rarely will I actually scrap it. As for the the stories that never see the light of computer screen or the scrawl of paper... you have no idea how many story ideas I toss out every day.

Writer's block is an ignorance, but if you can overcome it you'll be a better writer for it. Only scrap your stories if you've been hitting an absolute dead end for long periods of time.

I had a 1 year writers block, no joke. I was having some issues establishing a plot for the next chapters. I knew who i wanted, but not what the'd be doing

I've been having some issues with it lately. It's been over two months since I've updated, and it's getting to me. I've got the next chapter officially down, but there's literally no work on it whatsoever. I've got the motivation, sure, but I simply have no idea how I wish to proceed.

Writer's block is a MAJOR issue for me, but just like what Gengar said up above, I'm not quite sure I would call it Writer's block. Sure occasionally I would get stuck on a chapter, or a 'what to do next' moment every now and then, but it's mostly just me overthinking things, and forming new ideas in my head that I can't quite display through words. I have a habit of over planning a story, and when it comes to it, don't know how to execute it properly or in the way I had pictured it mentally.

To deal with Writer's block, as ironic as this may sound for me, I'd need to do more thinking. I have to think of all the right things to do, like for instance...
If I were stuck on deciding the next move for a combative moment in a story, I'd have to analyze the other opponents abilities, limits, and vice versa for the other. I'd need to think about the plot (Which is the over planning I had mentioned before), so that I don't make the wrong move and kill off the character and find out later that it wasn't a smart move.
