    Hmm, so I've been thinking of posting some of my writings on LV, but I don't have the courage to... I'm very shy about my abilities as a writer regardless of my English grade. Is there anything anyone knows that can help me over come this? Even just posting and wishing the best? Anything will help, thanks a bunch!!;;

    A big part of getting past writing anxiety (I have some too, even writing this) and to push past it I find just posting, just putting it out there and seeing the replies to what I write. If not that then maybe having someone just read over your posts or stories, get an opinion and then post it. :3 I hope that helps, those are my tricks at least

    Welllll whilst this likely won't work here, but in other places, have you ever considered posting your works under a different alias? I've found that that's helped me a lot in the past when I post my snippets I've wrote to get some feedback.

    @[member="Cadbberry"] Thanks Cad, it really does!! I hope I can stop being shy and try and push myself to do it... Who do you typically first share your works with?

    @[member="Leviathan"] That's actually not a bad idea, and I have thought about it, but even then I think I still get shy! Maybe I will try it though... And then perhaps post it here when I feel it's good?

    I dunno, gaining confidence is really hard !

    I know the feeling, I can feel pretty anxious when it comes to publishing my story online as well...
    Usually, if I'm too afraid, I'll just write the story for myself and keep it around in a folder in Google Drive, where I store all of my stories. Sometimes, I come across something that just feels right, a story I'm willing to gamble on. Those are the ones I put up online.
    I'd say, if you want to post one of your stories, post the one "you feel best about" or "have the most confidence in". That confidence has been justified in all of my cases, so I'm pretty sure it'll work that way with others as well. After all, that confidencs must've come from somewhere, right?

    Someone I am close to or I look up to, just someone I know isn't going to judge if it isn't perfect

    I totally understand, just look for someone you can be comfortable talking with and share it with them

    I think I personally find I am more comfortable sharing things with others when I am confident that given an extra hour or so to work on it it wouldn't be improved substantially without other people's input and opinions. This mostly comes from experience writing essays with little time restraints, but I'm sure this would be relevant to writing fiction as well. It sounds cliche but if you know that you've tried your hardest you should feel more confident with sharing it with others.

    You could offer it to some friends more directly to ask what they think and how it can be improved upon and if nothing else hopefully give you a confidence boost if nothing else.

    And at the end of the day you can categorise feedback in 3 ways, being positive, constructively critical and pointlessly negative. Positive feedback is probably what you're striving for, but honestly you really should be valuing constructive criticism more highly. I doubt anybody on here would hate on your writing for the sake of hating it so honestly this is probably irrelevant but you will probably end up producing something at some point in your life that you are proud of and someone will say that it is bad without justification or an alternative way of approaching things. And yeah as you'd imagine you want to try to avoid giving these comments much thought, as they won't help you to improve but simply weigh you down and make you want to quit.

    Hopefully what I said just then makes sense and was relevant lol. But yeah just post it. Your writing is better posted here than just sitting on your desktop to be neglected.
