What gym types would you like to see in X and Y? Or something else? I would like to see a Dark type gym!

I think Dark-type is the most underappreciated when it comes to Gyms. I'd love a proper Fire-type Gym, Blaine was kickass. I'd like a Gym puzzle based around Dive and/or Whirlpool, I don't think we've seen either of those (Maybe Dragon's Den counts a little).

Yah I agree dark would be pretty cool. But it might be cool if the new gyms had some kind of better strategy to throw us off instead of just it's Pokémon typing.

Yeah I agree with this, I'd like to see gyms that have themes based on other things, for example only Pokémon that don't evolve, Pokémon of a certain egg group, only Pokémon of a certain gender with the main ones being the gender-specific species, only Pokémon who evolve by stones, things like that so it's not as easy as just making sure you have one Pokémon which has a type that counters the Gym.

    I wouldn't mind seeing a Dark-Type gym...
    Maybe another Poison-Type too...

I'd like to see a gym which you can only fight during a certain time of day. The gym leader may have a terrible sleeping pattern so may only be up at night. He can use Dark types or something else. I'd also like to see a gym where you can fight the leader normally, but if you lose to him you cannot challenge him for about a whole day and night.

I'd like a gym where all trainers look like the gym leader and there's no way of telling who's the actual leader (It could be random each time you enter). The leader isn't at the end of a long puzzle, it's just there, but you don't know what it is. Also, if you leave and come back, any trainer you fought that wasn't the leader will fight you again (Maybe have it so they don't give exp. a second time).
This way they make it so you can't just heal and save before the gym leader...

I think that what Black and White did with the first gym is so genius, the whole thing about type-advantages.

I hope that X and Y will learn from that, and make gyms require you to think and not overpower any Pokémon. Gyms can be focused on typing, but I think that the Gyms should also focus on finding your weak point, and helping you to improve yourself in that area.

Or, a first gym that isn't either Normal, Rock, or Flying. Make the first gym Dragon, see how much fun the player has there.

And just for fun, maybe the game could keep a track of what Pokémon you're using and then change the gym's type as soon as you arrive in the town, making sure to never reuse types. That'd be a nice little surprise.

The problem with that is that the target audience (little kids) doesn't think strategically. For the most part.
I'd like to see a Dark-type Gym as well. Perhaps a good Fighting or Steel Gym would be good, too.

Yeah, the strategy thing does make sense..but a little mixing up (such as not relying on types alone) wouldn't be so bad, it would introduce people to playing Pokémon with more than just "spam attack till win". Compared to Gen 1 and 2 when that came out I personally found that Pokémon has grown a bit from that anyway even with kids. Could do a little more. I have a perception, and maybe I am alone in it, that some types are more 'mundane' than others, such as Fire, Water, Grass and Electric. They come off as just elemental staples, where Fighting, Psychic, Dark and Ghost for example are a little outside of that. If gyms are gonna go the normal type route, I'd like to see the "mundane" types be saved for the Elite 4 instead of being gyms. Gen 5 had Psychic, Dark, Ghost and Fighting for the Elite 4, what I already consider 'advanced' types..not in how they operate really, but in the concepts themselves, if you get what I mean. I'd like to see gyms for those and leave Fire and Water staples for the Elite 4 instead. Something about that is attractive to me.

I find it interesting that the first gym is going to be Bug. Instead of the normal Water and Grass getting an early advantage and Fire having a hard time Grass will be the one that has the harder time in the first gym. Fire gets the easiest time, and Water is just neutral. Also, I have heard rumors that the 2nd gym will be a Fairy type gym.

    I think it'd be a fairy-gym and a bug-gym. And I want a electric-gym xD

This. It just has to happen. Maybe a Pyschic or Ghost gym for this? Or or, Pokémon that can use copy-like moves like copycat and transform! There's already a ninja based gym, so how about a trick room kind of thing for this? :3

With the Gym Trainers looking like the Gym Leader thing, didn't that already happen with Janine?

And now the Gyms. Different is good. Along the lines of Norman's Gym, but expanded upon. That would be awesome. ;P

You are correct MetSylvy. This has already been done with Janine's gym in G/S/C/HG/SS.

Theres always the classic electric gym, I mean what can't you do with electric? Anyways I would love to see dark for a gym, and a bug gym thats actually cool, not a place with the half-gay leader like burgh or bugsy. My favorite gym however would be skyla's with the cannons blasting you all over the place, that one was just fun. I'd love to see another good flying gym, later in the game so its not the pidgey/taillow.... type of weak birds

Since Fairy is confirmed, there's obviously going to be a Fairy Gym or an Elite 4 member who uses Fairies... Blegh. My Dragons will still crush your filthy little Fairies any day.

I love the creative ideas above! I agree with a Dark Type gym, a Fairy type gym, and a Steel type gym, but Electric needs to be on the backburner for awhile. There's been one EVERY GENERATION. I think they just like the whole cheap 'one type weakness' that you may or may not be able to acquire at that point in the game.

I think there should be a randomized gym for the eighth , if that were possible. Any fully evolved Pokémon in the regional dex that is not a legendary. I think they should really twist the game up and focus the gyms on different things besides types.

There needs to be a Dark Type gym! This is the fifth evolution since Dark type has been released! Not only that, but Steel got a gym right away, why didn't Dark? I don't know... As far as I'm concerned though, a Dark Type gym needs to be in this generation. Will I complain if there isn't? Honestly, probably not. However, that doesn't change the fact that there's been five generations since Dark Type's release. It needs to happen.

Yeah there's no reason for this not to happen. Blue in Gen 2 and 4 had a variation as the eighth gym leader, there's a precedent for it.
