X and Y Speculation Thread

I am surprised it is only on 3DS. I didn't think Nintendo would ever make a full Pokémon trainer game only for 3DS. I suppose they're trying to push players into buying a 3DS. Overall, the game looks pretty cool. If I didn't have on already, I'd get a 3DS for it. I noticed that the only new Pokémon they showed were the starters and the legendaries. I wonder why that is?

 

I'm impressed they have made a goal to release worldwide it will make spoiling new Pokémon and features harder however can they make the october deadline? However it does seem like they have a lot done which is impressive making me wonder if they have been working on this since gen 5 or longer.

 

Some times things do happen be it unexpected or some thing that needed to be reworked.

 

It definitely looks based on the Eiffiel Tower, no mistaking that. With the 3DS I speculate that they will introduce being able to change attire through the game. A more detailed character graphic would make it a lot more noticeable. It's something I imagine lots of people want, even here on our forums multiple people have suggested it, and LV is only a small section of all the Pokémon fanbase as a whole. It's something I think they would try to implement.

I also find the naming of X and Y interesting. To me it can be related to one of two things; chromosomes, or dimensions on a graph. I'm leaning to the second one though, where this is the first one on in full 3D, a new dimension. X and Y are horizontal and vertical, or width and height..I can see the third game easily being named Z to incorporate depth or something, making the whole thing kind of a nod to the 'jump to full 3D'. I guess we will have to find out though.

 

So this is the first time they decided to name a generation without using colors? X and Y

And Doima, I would love to see them have customizable characters xD I kinda doubt they will for this generation but I would sure love that feature.

 

Yeah I guess it is. Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald and Diamond/Pearl/Platinum were more like jewels than colors, but I suppose they can be seen as colors, like different ways of describing color-shades.

I remember months ago on the old LV I screencapped a shout where I thought they might be Pokémon Plutonium or whatever. Looks like I was wrong, hah.

 

^ haha I'm sure no one could guess the names X and Y though. But I do like your theory as to why its x and y due to the new 3D map, and I'm sure that's why xD

 

you know if they say only 1 Transfer that would suck so bad (which would not happen for sure) which Pokémon would you Pick to transfer?

 

The player character's clothes look awfully similar to Hilbert's (BW's player character).
I wonder if this is where Hilbert/Hilda went to search for N? Looker said that he saw him in another region. What if this region was the one he was talking about?

 

It's probably way too early to judge, but one of the screenshots shows what appears to be a royal palace, so perhaps one of the storyline elements this time will be royalty and government. It was slightly touched upon in Black/White but I found the theme of that game was more of cults than proper royalty.

 

In the scene with the Eiffel Tower looking structure, did anybody but me notice the player's movements and how they're slower compared to actual running. Also there is a noise that sounds similar to roller skates if you listen carefully. I think they may replace the bike with roller skates or something. It makes sense though since animating an unfolding bike might be troublesome and out of place in a 3D game.

 

That would be nice. Perhaps have a simple saw item to do that for you so you don't have Pokémon stuck with Cut until you find a move deleter. At the very least it would be nice to make Cut a normal TM, similar to what was done with Flash and Rock Smash. It's a very weak move in battle and becomes outclassed early on, it is sort of a pain to be even temporarily stuck with it.Hopefully they'll realize it like they have with some others.

 

it definitely looked like roller skates to me, maybe they're replacing the bike or running shoes?
