XY: A new Dawn in Kalos
    Ch.1: Grand Reunion
Knight of Balance: (Facing away from screen) Boy, I'm gonna get in sooooo much trouble with this fanfic. (Looks behind to see the readers) Oh, sorry about that. I've got some doubts about this fanfic; since it's probably gonna get some trolls on my back. But, it's not like I care!
So, here's a pet project of mine. Now, I'm not the most informed about Kalos or XY so you'll have to bear with me on this. Also, please review after each chapter. I'm new at this and need as much (CONSTRUCTIVE) feedback as possible. Now, without further ado, I introduce XY: A new Dawn in Kalos!
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
In the vast world of Pokémon, there are some who work alongside their Pokémon companions in attempts to make the time we have on this insignificant marble of our worth it. Some work with them in everyday jobs, helping one another for the benefit of all while others to improve our lives in drastic ways, and another group still wants to discover the secret behind these mystical creatures. One group wish to become closer to their partners, doing so by engaging each other in power packed, heart pounding battles to see who is strongest. This group of people are called Pokémon trainers and, upon reaching the age of ten, may set out with a Pokémon of their choice and set out into the world to peruse their dreams.
One such person is Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town, a rather remarkable young man who, in his fifty months of traveling, has beaten a total of sixty-two Gym leaders alongside his partner Pikachu, proving to thousands to be one of the greatest trainers of his time, perhaps even beyond. Currently, Mr. Ketchum is residing in Cyllage City of the Kalos region after betting the city's gym leader, the Rock-Type specialist Grant. Now, he faced a different challenge.
"So hungry," groaned the Kantoian boy, resting his head woefully on a cheap table as his friends looked on with cross looks.
"Considering you've failed to meet your nutrition standards for the last two days, that's quite possible," Observed a young man with a head of bowl-cut blond hair and electric blue eyes wearing an electric blue jumpsuit. This was Clemont, a clever engineer/gym leader from Luimose City, one year Ash's juinor, traveling with his little sister Bonnie,a nine-year old girl with the same hair and eyes, who smacked him on the head.
"You've got no one to blame but yourself," Scolded a lovely young woman with well-groomed brownish blond hair and blue eyes, wearing a pink hat, skirt, and boots and black blouse. She was Serena, another native Kantoian who moved to Kalos when she was young. Currently, she was cooking up a nice meal for her friends at the moment, a vegetable stew. Tasting to make sure it was ready, she poured out bowls for each of her friends, pouring an extra-large bowl for Ash. She handed them each their meals, which they accepted gladly.
Ash ate the stew greedily, "Delicious!" He declared. Serena blushed, sitting next to him. Oh, why did he have to be so kind and oblivious at the same time.
They sat together, eating their warm meal happily. After their bowls were licked clean, the quartet sighed contently with Ash rubbing his full belly.
"So, what should we do now?" Bonnie asked the group.
"I think we should get started toward Shalour City." Ash suggested, getting a disapproving tut from Clemont.
"Now, now. We worked real hard to get here. I think we should take a break and indulge ourselves."
"What do you have in mind?" Serena inquired.
"Well, I heard that the first ever Pokémon Contest in Kalos is premiering here in Cyllage," He told them, "I think that it's worth a look."
"Pokémon Contest?" said Bonnie, "Sounds fun!"
"I guess we can check it out," Ash admitted, having not seen a contest since Sinnoh.
Serena laughed happily, "Then it's settled, we're seeing that Contest!"
Meanwhile, outside the poke-center, the gang's Pokémon were enjoying a nice meal together.
"You can't deny that they have good grub here." commented Froakie, a frog-like Pokémon with large, intelligent yellow eyes.
"Yeah!" said Fletchling, a sparrow like Pokémon with a grayish body and a head of fiery red feather, as he chewed on some food.
"I guess," commented Fennekin, a small yellow fox Pokémon with deep red eyes.
"Kind of," said their leader, Pikachu, Ash's best friend and strongest Pokémon. He was thinking of the food that his old friend, Brock, use to make for him. Arceus, he may have been the biggest pervert this side of reality, but he did know how to make the perfect food. Another electric mouse named Dedenne looked at his elder with a questioning look. Before he could ask him anything, Ash and his friends found them and told them about their plan to see the Pokémon Contest in town.
"Contest?" Said Froakie quizzically. He never heard of that before, even at Professor Sycamore's lab.
"I'll tell you about it on the way there." Pikachu said, excited to see one after so long. With their consent, the trainers and their Pokémon carried themselves to the Cyllage Stadium, unaware of what was about to transpire.
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Cyllage Stadium was a marvel of Kalos architecture that many could appreciate. With its open windows allowing the perfect mixture of artificial light and sun or moon light, giving it a natural yet modern lighting, beautiful frescoes depicting many heroic events in history and the pristine white marble, it was the perfect place for Contests to be held. The group was currently seated in the upper level of the stadium's viewing area along with Pikachu and Dedenne, which seemed more appropriate for an opera house. As they waited for the Contest to start, Bonnie asked him, "Ash, have you ever seen Contest?"
"Yeah, two of my friends, Dawn and May, are actually Coordinators." He admitted, getting up and going to the bathroom before the Contest started with his pal following close by. A few seconds after he left, the announcer, a young woman five years older than them wearing a short, red dress came onto stage.
"Hello, everyone! Sorry for keeping you waiting, but now we're ready!" The curtain rose up behind her, showing a new battling arena and a large display screen above it. "Let me introduce our judges for the evening." She to the side of the arena where three people were sitting in three separate podiums: the judges for the Contest. First was a well-aged man with sleek gray hair and a well groomed mustache. He wore a pristine tuxedo with newly shone shoes, projecting an air of class and grace. He stood up, looked at the crowd with wise yet bright blue eyes, "Hello, spectators and hopefully potential Coordinators. My name is Michael de' Gaulle, the president of the Pokémon Coordination Committee, Kalos Branch. After several years of fighting with the Kalos officials I was able to bring the wondrous art of coordinating to our region."
"Thank you, Mr. de' Gaulle, for that heartwarming story," said the second judge, a glamorous looking older woman with red hair and sparkling green eyes, garbed in a silk white dress stood up, giving off a similar air the man had, addressing him then the crowd next, "For those of you who don't know me, I'm Arella, a famous Coordinator, retired after thirty years. Now, I'm honored to be one of Kalos' first judges."
"Thank you, Arella." The announcer thanked, "Lastly, we have Cyllage City's own Nurse Joy!" The pink-haired nurse gave the crowd a small wave, a little embarrassed at not having an extravagant story like the previous two.
"Now that introductions are out of the way," announced Michael, making the actual announcer frown quite unhappily, "Let us meet the first ever Coordinators to performed in Kalos in history!"
One by one, the Coordinators were called out onto stage, displaying their skill and talent through marvelous presentations of their Pokémon's capabilities, dazzling everyone with their beauty. Before they knew it, all sixteen Coordinators had performed and left, allowing the judges to decide on whom to advance, a tough call since they had all done such a good job.
"Those moves," Serena breathed, blown away by their beauty.
"Most agreeable," Clemont said with Bonnie nodding in agreement.
While they were talking amongst themselves, Ash returned from the bathroom, holding a box of popcorn.
"Ash, where have you been?" Clemont asked, not even going to bother asking where, why and how he got popcorn.
"Wandering," Ash said. He was never very interested in Contests, only watching May's on occasion when he wasn't too busy training.
After a few moments of careful consideration, the judges displayed the faces of those who would continue onto the battling round. Clemont, Bonnie, and Serena cheered, seeing many of their favorites passing the performing round. Ash noticed one of the faces and nearly choked on his popcorn. "It can't be." He thought to himself. The first battle began with the two combatants walking onto stage. One was a man in a yellow tuxedo with black hair and eyes, looking rather smug. The other was a pretty girl Ash and Serena's age with long blue hair worn up in a ponytail with eyes of the same color. She wore an elegant blue dress that sparkled and shone like water along with long, elbow-length white gloves. Most appealing, she had this confidence about her, a feeling that would allow her to overcome anything and anyone who got in her way, which kind of reminded them of Ash, who at that moment called out incredulously, "Dawn!"
The girl, as well as Ash's friends, looked at him, the latter's eyes widening in recognition. She gave him a big smile and waved at him at him, which he and his friends returned awkwardly.
"Ash," Serena said in a suspicious and slightly angry tone of voice. She didn't like the way that Coordinator was smiling at her Ash, "Who, exactly, is that girl?"
At first, he didn't register her words, so caught up in seeing his friend he was. Once they were processed, he looked at her, "Oh, That's Dawn, a friend of mine from Sinnoh. I mentioned her earlier."
"Ash!" Dawn called out, overjoyed to see her old friend, "Listen, I can't talk right now, but come see me after the Contest."
    "Sure thing!" Ash promised.
"Can we please have our battle?" Dawn's opponent called; extremely annoyed that he was being ignored.
Dawn looked at him angrily. She was annoyed that he interrupted her conversation. She took out her Pokéball and threw it, yelling, "Piplup, Spot-Light!" The ball opened, letting out Dawn's signature Water-type, a white and blue penguin with a yellow peak, came out in a flurry of hearts, giving a salute.
"Finally," he groaned, throwing his own Pokéball, "Simipour, Appear!" In a flurry of cherry blossom petals, a man-sized, blue monkey with dreadlocks appeared, yawning loudly.
"Begin!" The announcer yelled, the screen set up for the contest.
"Simipour, Use Shadow Ball!" The ape leaped to his feet and fired a ball of cackling dark energy at Piplup.
"Piplup, use Drill Peck!" Her beak lengthend to twice its normal size, she flew at the ball. It drilled into the ball, causing the purple sparks to fly from them, causing her opponent to lose some of his cool as well as some of his points. She broke through the attack and tackled into Simipour, who laughed at the challenge of such a tough opponent.
Michael smiled excitingly. He personally asked for Dawn to come to Kalos for this event, since he had seen the tapes of her Sinnoh travels. True, her Hoenn performances were less impressive, but he knew, deep within his soul, that this was a good idea. And now, it seemed his gamble is paying off.
"Piplup, Use Bubblebeam above Simipour!" Obeying her command, Piplup fired the bubbles above the other Water-Type, condensing above him.
"Huh?" The opponent said, wondering what in Distortion World she was planning.
"Now, Ice Beam!" Piplup fired a beam of frigid power at the cloud of bubbles, freezing them. The bubbles fell onto Simipour in a burst of rainbow ice particles. The opponent watched as his points drained away, "Simipour, Water Pulse!" With a sleepy look, he conjured an orb of water and slammed it into Piplup's face. She glared at him, blowing him away with a Hydro Pump.
"Whirlpool!" Dawn commanded. Water condensing and swirling above her, Piplup created a churning mass of water and flung it at Simipour, trapping him.
The opponent growled at her, "Freeze the water with Ice Punch!" With another sleepy look, he struck the water with an icy paw, freezing it solid as ice covered the water like a frosty spell. "Good, now spin and tackle Piplup." He broke his legs out of the ice and, in a display of impressive balance and mobility, Simipour twirled like a ballerina and smacked Piplup with his icy tutu. Though Dawn lost a few points, Simipour could already hear the jabs being thrown at him by his comrades. In a fit of rage, he used Brick Break to shatter his icy apparel. His trainer looked at him with shock on his face.
"Um," he said, "Use Fury Swipes?" The aquatic primate bounded at Piplup, ready to let out his frustration on Piplup.
Dawn looked at the stadium floor, seeing it drenched in melted ice and water, it gave her an idea. "Piplup, Use Ice Beam on the floor!" Shooting an icy beam at the floor, ice webbed across the floor, creating a slick surface, causing Simipour to slip and slide across the floor before falling on his face. He picked himself up, looking at Piplup with grudging respect, and glided across the floor to her. Thinking fast, Piplup spun like a top around the opposing Water-Type, making him fall on his face again.
"Okay, this is annoying," The opponent said, "Simipour, leap then Scald." Giving Piplup a smug look, Simipour jumped into the air and exhaled a jet of steaming hot water, melting the ice and turning Piplup red.
"Now, Rock Slide!" Simipour flung his hands into the air and forced them to the ground, giant slabs of stone crashing into the floor. Piplup leaped on the stones, getting higher and higher into the air. She leaped off the final slab; Piplup dove at her opponent, slamming into him with a Drill Peck. As they bounced away, Simipour gave her a thumbs up.
"Shadow Claw!" Simipour ran at Piplup with a shadowy claw. Piplup ducked and dodged as he swiped at her. "Grab a hold of him and spin!" Dawn countered. After one more swiped, Piplup grabbed a hold of Simipour's arm with her peak. Spinning around and around, Simipour was lifted off the ground and flung into the ground.
"Darn it, Get Up!" He roared, seeing that his points were MUCH lower than Dawn's with only a minute left on the clock. Simipour struggled to his feet, "Good, now use Shadow Ball!" With a tired grunt, Simipour conjured another purple ball and fired it at Piplup, who blew it back toward him using a Hydro Pump. As he saw the attacks fly toward him, the water monkey of Unova shrugged his shoulders, thinking, "You win some, you lose some." The attacks impacted him, knocking him out with twenty seconds left.
"Simipour is unable to battle," The announcer yelled, "The winners are Dawn and Piplup!"
The crowd was silent, still spellbound by the excitement of the battle. Then, all at once, they erupted in a flurry of applause, both in congratulation for her first win in Kalos and in appreciation for entertaining them. Even with the applause of a famous Coordinator and a Contest aficionado, all she cared about was the support of one boy, clapping louder than the rest.

After the Contest, which she had won and gained the first ribbon in Kalos history, Dawn returned to the dressing room, changing back into her traveling clothes from Sinnoh. At that moment, Ash and his friend came into the room. Seeing each other, Ash and Dawn ran up to each other and gave each other a high five.
"Dawn, I can't believe you're in Kalos!" Ash exclaimed happily.
"Yeah. I was at home, having finished traveling in Hoenn, trying to decide what to next when Mr. de' Gaulle called, asking me to participate in Kalos' first Contest." She explained,"I was so excited!"
"It was a big moment." Piplup agreed.
"Hey, speaking of which, how was your journey in Hoenn?" He said, "I forgot to ask last time."
"Oh," Dawn said, unable to meet his eyes. Her journey in Hoenn had been a complete disaster, having only come in the Top 8 in Hoenn's Grand Festival Plus, the journey itself was, for a lack of a better word, dull, unlike her time with Ash, "It was alright."
The trainer from Pallet looked at her, trying to find out about what was wrong with her. What had happened with her during Hoenn? Seeing his concern, Dawn put on her best smile and said, "No need to worry!" which relieved him of said worries.
"Ah-hem!" Serena coughed, grabbing the attention of both of them. She wasn't very keen with her Ash talking so happily with this girl, "Ash, if you would be so kind, would you please introduce to your friend?"
"Sure." He answered, "Dawn, these are my new friends: Clemont and his sister Bonnie,"
"Hello, Miss Berlitz." Clemont greeted, shaking her hand at the same moment he gave his little sister a look saying, "I dare you to set me up with this girl." He was sick and tired of his little sister setting him up with every pretty girl they came across, especially since she was his YOUNGER sister. Plus, it seemed Ash was quite close to Dawn, so that might not even be an option.
She puffed her cheeks out at him before shaking Dawn's hand, "Hi, Nice to meet you."
"And this is Serena." Ash said, motioning to the blond girl.
"Hi!" Dawn said, holding out her hand. Serena simply looked her over with a cold, calculating look, like someone sizing up a rival instead of meeting a potential friend.
"Hmmm," She hummed dismissively, making the other girl look at her in surprise.
"Ooookay." Dawn said awkwardly, "So, what brings you to Cyllage City?"
"The Cyllage Gym." Clemont answered, "Ash just beat the Gym leader and won his second Badge."
"Wow," she said, looking at him in amazement , "Two badges already?"
"Yeah, I've got two Badges and two new Pokémon. Here, I'll show you." Grabbing his pokeballs from his belt, he threw them into the air and released their contents, showing both Froakie and Fletching, who greeted the new girl.
Dawn was rather impressed. Ash's Pokémon, though young, seemed to hold quite a bit of strength within them, as expected of her friends.
As their trainers talked, Froakie and Fletching were being introduced by Pikachu.
"Froakie, Fletching," Pikachu said, "This is Piplup, a friend of mine that I met with Dawn in Sinnoh. Piplup, these are Froakie" Piplup held out a flipper to Fletching, who took it in his claw with a friendly hello. She then moved on Froakie, who shook his hand quickly, having never met a Water-Type from another region face-to-face.
"He's rather friendly," commented Piplup, a little dizzy from the shake.
"Well, it's been nice meeting you," Serena said with such a slight, sarcastic undertone that only a careful observer would be able to detect, grabbing Ash's arm possessively who slipped out of her grip awkwardly, "But it's getting late and we need to get up early to leave for Shalour City. So if you don't mind-"
"Wait," Dawn said, "Listen, They're starting to set up Contests all over Kalos, even having a Grand Festival in a few months. Mr. de Gaulle invited me to stay in Kalos and compete."
"Sure, cool." She responded, having a bad feeling about where this was going, "We really need to-"
"But, I haven't been in Kalos for very long," Dawn continued, em a puppy dog look "So, if it wouldn't be a bother, could I come with you guys?"
Serena opened her mouth to reject her when Ash said otherwise. Out of all of his adventures, his time with Dawn had been the best. He couldn't wait to travel with her again. Plus, he couldn't really say no when she gave him that look, "Sure, we'd love for you to come with us, right guys?
    "Actually, I-" Serena began.
"Of course. Any friend of Ash's is welcome in our company." Clemont assured.
"I think you'll fit in well!" Bonnie agreed.
Serena sighed angrily. Arceus damn peer pressure, she'll just have to keep a close on Dawn to make sure she didn't try anything, "I guess its fine."
Dawn smiled, "Great! I bet will have plenty of fun together!"
With an old friend in tow, Ash and his friends went back to the poke center, awaiting the adventures ahead.

Knight of Balance: And that's a wrap!
Dawn: Why do I have the feeling Serena's not happy with me?
Knight of Balance: (Shrugs) That's how I honestly think she'd react if you two meet. (Turns to the readers) If you guys liked this chapter, leave a review. I really encourage leaving criticism, but only if it's constructive. Thank you!
P.S. This is taken directly from the original Fanfic chapter so just post to review.
