Did Jon Snow die in GoT Season 6?

  1. Yes. He's deader than Theon's favorite toy.

Warning, spoilers! If you have not finished watching Game of Thrones Season Six, stop reading now! Go watch the show or read the books!

Now, for the question that we all have been wondering since the conclusion of season six; Is Jon Snow dead? By the normal laws of G.R.R. Martin's universe, yes. Jon Snow has bit the big one. Betrayed by his brothers, Jon Snow was stabbed ruthlessly by the remaining men at the Night's Watch for letting the wildlings though the Wall, blind to the oncoming threats of the White Walkers. Jon Snow was their best chance to survive, and they killed him. Kit Harrington, the actor that plays Jon Snow, has stated that he is dead and isn't coming back (despite being on set at the site where they film for the Wall story arc).

With the actor either lying or being truthful to us, we must look at the death scene more closely. First, we must ask ourselves; can Jon Snow be revived? The answer is yes, though it is a long shot. First of all, as we see Jon Snow bleed out, he is most certainly dead. His eyes are lifeless. So then, we must ask ourselves; how can Jon Snow be revived? Well, we have a few ways that we can see Jon Snow come back.

First, let's go with the assumption that the Night Watch foolishly doesn't burn Jon Snow's corpse. Jon Snow would come back as a wright. Zombie Snow wouldn't be a stretch so long as they don't burn the body. Jon Snow on the side of the Others would be an interesting way to bring him back, and would be one unexpected, as he's been built up to stop the White Walkers.

Second, there's Melisandre. She is the best chance that Jon has to come back to life and resume his fight against the White Walkers. By the writing standpoint, Jon Snow's death at the time does not fit what should be. We have so many unanswered obvious questions like who his mother is. Jon Snow being revived by Melisandre would be the best way to bring him back. However, the question isn't will she, but can she? In Season 2, Thoros of Myr revived Beric Dondarrion six times so far in the series; an ability that Melisandre is bewildered by. It is suggested that she herself cannot do this. I can forsee her trying to revive him when she discovers his corpse, but will she succeed?

Third, Jon Snow is a Warg. He is able to enter the mind of Ghost. Wargs are able to share the body with animals even after the deaths of their original bodies, though the longer they stay, the more like the animal they become. It is possible for Jon to Warg into Ghost, who was oddly absent from his death scene. Could Jon Snow survive this way?

What do you think? Is Jon Snow dead, or alive? Let me know below!
