My gym would be volcano themed with puzzles where you have to raise and lower bridges. Fire types FTW.

My gym would be Flying-Type and have a 'Sky Pirate' theme. The battle would take place on a airship/pirate ship fusion in a big sky-like room. Unsure on what the puzzle would be, but I'll edit this later if I can think of one. My team would probably consist of these 4 Pokémon.

My gym would be steel type. The theme of the gym would be to break through your enemies using brains not brawn. The gym puzzle would reflect this. A giant maze covered in steel walls. In certain spots, the steel walls are weakened, and you can bust through them. The key would be to work your way through the maze by finding the weak points and busting through.

As for a team, I would use,

    Bastiodon
This Pokémon would be first and used as a set up tank Pokémon equipped with toxic.

    Scizor
    Ferrothorn
    Aggron
    Empoleon
    Metagross

Metagross would be the final Pokémon and would be the ultimate challenge. Due to the difficulty of such a gym, it would probably have to be the final gym, but this would go out with a bang.

Mine will be poison type( I just love poison type so much). The battle will base around the spreading of poison and toxic to all Pokémon. And the puzzle will be similar. There will be spots that damage your Pokémon throughout the gym and the damage dealt is based on the effectiveness of poison type on other types. (Basically, a full team of steel would go through my gym puzzle very easily)There will also be traps that cause the poison status to a random Pokémon on your team(Excluding steel types, of course)

And my team would be as follows:
Drapion(To have immunity on psychic types so it won't be a cake walk with psychic types)
Toxicroak(To provide a way to kill steel types)
    Crobat(For ground type)
Salazzle(Just to poison steel and poison types)
    Nidoking(Just a powerful fighter)
    Dragalge

All will have the move toxic and Venomshock
The TM gift will be Venomshock.

My gym would be a hiking trail with several twisting paths, each with different types of shrubbery. At the end would be my character, standing in front of a great canyon. I’d be a ground type specialist with a Claydol, Camerupt, Siesmitoad, and Krookodile. My badge would resemble one of those hiking stick medallions you can get at gift shops.

    Great idea! Let's see...

    Ground type gym
I would be standing near the entrance, but as the trainer approaches me, the ground shakes and they fall into a crevice. They then have to go through a series of mazes to find their way to the top with the occasional trainer. After making it to the top, they can fight me!
Team (basic): Gabite, Vibrava, Marshtomp, Gliscor, Camerupt
Team (advanced): Torterra, Garchomp, Gliscor, Swampert, Flygon, Camerupt

A normal-type gym set up in a museum/gallery. The theme would be adaptation through the ages, showing diagrams of claws, wings etc as well as models of various normal type Pokémon showing the great variety in shapes and sizes the type can have.

A large outdoor area would be set up behind the building with the gym leader taking on challengers in different areas that have different terrains and challenges for their Pokémon to overcome. (this would be more of an anime thing of course, but ingame would be cool too)

Psychic Type Gym. Just a straight line to gym leader but you have to use certain moves and directions in specific places, or you'll just repeatedly teleport back to the beginning like mario 64's infinite staircase thing

I would want a Water type gym and have it take place at a beach. Your goal would be to surf through mazes of seaweed clumps (that you can’t pass through) and you have to challenge swimmers. (At this point in the game, you can’t surf in the overworld, so the gym allows for rental Lapras for trainers to ride on during the gym challenge.) The gym leader rides a Mantine (their signature Pokémon) and they’re past all the trainers at a sand bar (shallow part of the ocean) and you battle there.

    First challenge: Skrelp, Frillish, Mantine
Rematches: Dragalge, Empoleon, Sharpedo, Jellicent, Gyarados, Mantine

All their Pokémon know Scald and they give you the TM for Scald. They also allow you to use Surf in the overworld.

Dark type gym! Ideally in the latter half of the game (5th through 8th gyms)

The challenge would be a combination of the challenges from Petalburg and Hearthome gyms -- 5 pitch black rooms, lit up maze, lights are shaped like Pokémon (but not Duskull lol). There is only one door to each successive room, and each room has one trainer somewhere in the maze. Before each door can be opened, you have to answer quiz questions -- these test how well you know your competitive battling strategies by giving you these scenarios and you must answer with the correct, winning strategy from a list of choices! If you answer incorrectly and you have already fought the trainer in the room you are in, you have to fight that trainer again and that specific scenario will be programmed into that 2nd battle!

Once you reach the final room (my room), my team would be:

    (1st match)
    Poochyena
    Houndour
    Houndoom
    Umbreon

    (Rematch)
    Mightyena
    Houndoom x2
    Umbreon
    Spiritomb
    Hydreigon

So my type would definitely be Flying, mainly because of the flexibility of the type to let it give me two different teams.

The theme of the gym would be Integrity, Taking Flight!, with the goal of testing the challenger's character, rather than having some sort of weird obstacle. Naturally, because of the mons I want to use, this would be closer to the end of the game (probably more suited to E4 but w/e).

The challenger would fight through my first three challengers, and as a leader, I would observe the fights and pay attention to the moves and attitude of the battler, giving them progressively more difficult tests each time. Something like speed boosting with Tailwind, then maybe using Whirlwind to stop setup or sweeps, and then using something like Double Team (idk these haven't been hammered out yet).

However, what has been hammered out are my teams. If the challenger shows a strong moral fortitude and fights honorably, I'm gonna use my cool Flying team with some of my favorites that are still solid Flying mons.

    Crobat
    Staraptor
    Talonflame
    Noivern
    Gyarados
    Mega Pinsir

On the flipside, if the challenger acts like a lame-o, then they're gonna get the lame-o team:

    EvasionPass Drifblim
    Toxic Stall Gliscor
    ParaFlinch Togekiss
    Skarmory, just dumb Skarmory things
    Cosmic Power Sigilyph
    DD Mega Salamence

I think it'd be fun to be a two-faced Gym Leader (more of an E4 member tbh based on the mons) that can troll the challenger if they're a lame-ass person, but give them a good fun fight if they're cool.
