Whilst this feeling will often diminish over time, for many people during childhood there will be someone - or many people - who they look up to; who inspire them to do or be something more, or something specific.

Do you have someone in your life that you look up to? Has this feeling changed over time, if so?

Uh...right now I look up to Jacksepticeye...he's not really part of my life but he's the only one that I really look up to. I like he's positive attitude and very good outlook on life, all about that PMA!!

There are a few that come to mind.

My Mother. She is a very down to earth and intelligent woman who genuinely cares about other people.

My Mother’s ex partner. Her outgoing personality is something I always admired and envied. She can start an engaging conversation with just about anyone. I also love how protective she is with her family. If you messed with my Mother or I, you would have to go through her.

My Grandfather. The closest thing I had to a father figure. His dedication to his farm, even at the age of 81, blows me away. I look forward to learning how to drive with him.

My Grandmother. I admire her for a lot of the same reasons I admire my mother (makes sense since she’s her daughter). Once again, a very gentle and down to Earth person. Her food is fantastic.

I strangely never had much of a hero when I was little, and that's probably part of the reason why I stagnated for the first 20 years of my life. But then I found a few people, mostly fictional, who have become role models for me. For instance there's Batgirl, who became a superhero not out of guilt or regret or because she was chosen by a greater power, but because she wanted to. Or there's Mega Man and his descendants, who every time they get stuck in a difficult situation, they learn something and emerge stronger than they were when they entered. Or All Might, who lives every day in severe pain and with regret and misery but who doesn't stop smiling because he knows people need more hope and less worry and that he can help with that. None of these people are real humans, but I admire them all and I want to be like them.
