So, yesterday I was out with my parents looking around at Halloween decorations seeing if we could find anything that was on clearance and we walked into Michael's (an art store) and they already had their Christmas stuff up. It was pretty crazy couldn't find anything related to Halloween. What are some things you've seen that's been put up early? Has it been Easter decorations in January? 4th of July decorations in May? Feel free to share what store it happened in too.
LOL SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME. I mean hey, sales on the holidays that are actually close. Though, it does seem pretty weird how they prepared 2 months in advance. No one prepares for Halloween in August after all.
We have stuff for Sinterklaas (5 December) in the store in September. Also, we already have Christmas shows in garden stores. Don't ask me why, though. I tend to avoid most things related to a holiday until we are in the month itself.
There's a few grocery stores around here that begin with the Christmas songs playing over store sound system the week if not the day after Halloween, every year. Christmas displays are one thing but hearing Christmas jingle classics every time you want to get some milk or something for two months gets old really quick.
Like Azur said, over here, Sinterklaas stuff comes before Christmas. There are a few stores that do start with Christmas stuff around September/October though, but those are mostly big gardening stores that often sell Christmas plants such as Christmas trees and whatnot. I hate the transaction between December 5 (the final day of Sinterklaas) and December 6 (on this day, "Sinterklaas returns to Spain")... within less than 24 hours, ALL of the remaining shops (which is about 95%) transform into Christmas wonderland as if Sinterklaas has never happened. And with Christmas come the Christmas songs... Yay >_> I don't mind big holidays like Christmas and Easter and whatnot, but I don't like the way stores and brands use them to make money often months in advance. I guess it can't be helped though, we live in a capitalistic world after all.
My radio station friggin played "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas" in the middle of September. My neighbors are putting up Christmas decorations now. What a world we live in.
I saw some Christmas shit in the dollar store already, myself, but that's about it. Everywhere else is clearing their Halloween stuff.
Yeah it's crazy. I feel like Thanksgiving stuff is kinda thrown into the mix when halloween related things are in store prior to halloween. Then once that is over people are putting up Christmas lights and stores are stocked and loaded for everything christmas oriented haha.
I love Christmas so this is pretty great in my opinion. While it sucks that thanksgiving just gets skipped over usually, i'm fine with it. >.> Surprisingly, I have yet to see any christmas stuff in either my local wal-mart or other stores that are like wal-mart.
Nothing too Christmassy here yet, but definitely a lot of Halloween goods. I'm actually excited for Christmas decorations.
The Christmas food aisle at the Tesco we shop at every week has been present since September. Before all the Halloween cakes and whatnot appeared. I think that's the earliest I've ever seen Christmas stuff being sold...pretty crazy. Outside of that, I've not really seen anything to indicate the holiday season is approaching asides from a sudden increase in toy adverts on TV, which is depressing...toys were so much better quality when I was a kid.
As I don't celebrate Christmas, but partake in the holiday season, I wouldn't consider the holiday season to be in session until right after Thanksgiving lmao I've already seen Christmas decorations already(considering that thanksgiving is in a week)- actually as of Thursday, my area put them the same ones up like they do every year~
For a split second I thought I saw someone put of Christmas lights on Halloween, but then I realized said lights were for Halloween, but a few weeks after someone actually put up their Christmas lights. Like seriously? Talk about early birds.
