This game has been wonderful, the Pokémon and Rotom Dex are working in great sync but then some of these dex entries are just off putting or weird. Have you found any? Spoiler: Some I Have Found Haunter- Pokémon Sun It strikes at humans from total darkness. Those licked by its cold tongue grow weaker with each passing day until they die. Metapod- Pokémon Sun Its shell is filled with its soft innards. It doesn't move much because of the risk it might carelessly spill its innards out. Gengar- Pokémon Sun Should you feel yourself attacked by a sudden chill, it is evidence of an approaching Gengar. There is no escaping it. Give up.
I have two. May post more if I can find any after collecting some more Pokémon. Spoiler: Keep it classy Pokémon Rowlet - Pokémon Moon Silently it glides, drawing near its targets. Before they even notice it, it begins to pelt them with vicious kicks. Lunala - Pokémon Moon Said to live in another world, this Pokémon devours light, drawing the moonless dark veil of night over the brightness of day. One is quite shocking and the other is dark...literally.
According to Sun, Slowbro is basically just tripping all the time. Spoiler "It spaces out while gazing at the sea. With Shellder's poison flowing through its body, it becomes even spacier." Now Driftloon had references to stealing children like a creeper in Dex entries before, but this time they expanded on it. It's odd to begin with, and the addition makes me laugh. Spoiler "Stories go that it grabs the hands of small children and drags them away to the afterlife. It dislikes heavy children." It dislikes heavy children. STOP FAT SHAMING YOU SHITLORD BALLOON. TRIGGERED. In the "it makes other Pokémon die in bad ways" category there's one of my new favorites Araquanid. Spoiler "It delivers headbutts with the water bubble on its head. Small Pokémon get sucked into the bubble, where they drown" Fun. That's all I've got for now, but some odd and creepy stuff. Though mostly odd and amusing.
According to the pokedec Bewear literally loves you to death: Spoiler "This Pokémon has the habit of hugging its companions. Many Trainers have left this world after their spines were squashed by its hug." Also Sandygast's is pretty dark: Spoiler "Buried beneath the castle are masses of dried-up bones from whose vitality it has drained."
Toxapex: Spoiler 'Toxapex crawls along the ocean floor on its 12 legs. It leaves a trail of Corsola bits scattered in its wake.' Should you need a grisly mass-murderer scene for that iMovie you're shooting, fear no more, just call upon your friendly neighborhood Freddy-Kruger-imitation, Toxapex. This has already been posted, but Gengar. Spoiler Should you feel yourself attacked by a sudden chill, it is evidence of an approaching Gengar. There is no escaping it. Give up. How incredibly cheerful. The Dex telling us 'Are you cold? Oh well, JUST DIE NOW! *cue maniacal psycho laughter*' I mean, this IS a kid's game...right? #MissingNo
There is Wishiwashi School form. Spoiler At their appearance, even Gyarados will flee. When they team up to use Water Gun, its power exceeds that of Hydro Pump. Next would be Shiinotic. Spoiler Forests where Shiinotic live are treacherous to enter at night. People confused by its strange lights can never find their way home again. & It emits flickering spores that cause drowsiness. When its prey succumb to sleep, this Pokémon feeds on them by sucking in their energy. Lastly would be Salazzle Spoiler For some reason, only females have been found. It creates a reverse harem of male Salandit that it lives with. & Filled with pheromones, its poisonous gas can be diluted to use in the production of luscious perfumes.
I can't find the Gen VII text for it, but let's not forget Shedinja "Shedinja's hard body doesn't move, not even a twitch. In fact, its body appears to be merely a hollow shell. It is believed that this Pokémon will steal the spirit of anyone peering into its hollow body from its back."
Mimikyu's Sun entry: Spoiler Its actual appearance is unknown. A scholar who saw what was under its rag was overwhelmed by terror and died from the shock. The Dex entries for Mega Evolved Pokémon are a gold mine of spooky ones, but Mega Glalie's is pretty sad: Spoiler The excess energy from Mega Evolution spilled over from its mouth, breaking its jaw. It spews endless blizzards.
I know the Pokédex has some entries that are pretty creepy, including in the older games. But latere games seem to want to scare us like they did before. For example Phantump, it's a child soul ....
Honestly, Gamefreak hasnt been pulling its punches this gen when it comes to dex entries, both old and new. Especially our old pal Golbat: Golbat Moon Dex Entry: Sometimes they drink so much blood, they can't fly anymore. Then they fall to the ground and become food for other Pokémon. We've always known about how much they drink, but they never said how they become food for other pokes... try to paint this image into your mind. A Golbat, who has drunk nearly 10 gallons of blood, can no longer fly, and now when a Pokémon feasts on them, imagine all the blood they're also getting, more than likely from other Pokémon, too. Ever since I learned this, I just couldnt get this image out of my head.
"Although Gorebyss is the very picture of elegance and beauty while swimming, it is also cruel. When it spots prey, this Pokémon inserts its thin mouth into the prey's body and drains the prey of its body fluids" Yeah...not funny
I got a couple of them that really stood out. Frankly; it seems that a lot of ghost type Pokédex files are quite disturbing. Considering what Lusamine kept in her inner sanctum; I'm surprised she didn't have a Froslass on her team. Spoiler: Froslass Sun Entry When it finds humans or Pokémon it likes, it freezes them and takes them to its chilly den, where they become decorations. Wut... And all the Tapu guardians are outright nasty and merciless in their own right, but I think Tapu Lele takes the cake on this one. Although it doesn't say it from the Pokédex entry; Bulbapedia lore says that its scales can be either beneficial or harmful depending on the quantity and it becomes amused regardless of the effects. There was also a legend where it ended an interisland war between Alola in the past by healing all the tired warriors, but there is mounting evidence of a more disturbing truth. That tells me that Tapu Lele is a genocidal jerk. Brav
