This comes from Serebii "The Pokémon Company has just announced that almost 6,000 people, specifically 5,954, have been banned from online activity for having altered save data. This ban prevents them from using Game Sync, entering in Rating Battles and Battle Competitions, and participating in Global Missions. When they try, they will get an error message with the error code 090-0212. They promise to continue pursuing people with edited & illegal save data and will enact similar restrictions without notice. We'll bring all further developments about this as it comes"
It's actually pretty interesting how aggressive TPC this gen compared to the past. I wonder if they ban only the game sync ID or the 3DS itself. Thank God I don't edit saves on my main 3DS tho, that would have been pretty scary xD
I worry though of what it may bring, I know I have hacked Pokémon I have gotten from wonder trade and hacked Pokémon from my past games, if i transfer them up will I be banned for past Pokémon that I didn't clone or gen or whatever.
From what I have seen, I can see that this is only for people who use PKHacks and Powersave. But this means it may also effect people who do Randomizers.
Yeah it would be a shame if you got a hacked mon through no fault of your own and got banned for it, good thing it's only for those situations.
Is there any way to check whether a save file itself has been edited by PowerSave or the 3DS has been used for it though? I don't see what could be the reason for Nintendo specifically picking out these people.
I'm not surprised honestly but it's kinda confusing what has been going on and what it takes to get banned. I hope it doesn't happen to me, I ain't been cheating.
According to some people, every time you do Game Sync, the servers check if there's anything unusual going on (for example, you had 1 MasterBall in your last Game Sync, then now you have 999). I don't have proof of this, but it seems pretty reasonable. It seems the ban can only happen to people who actually used PKHeX on their own cartridges.
Well, I have a hacked Pokémon or two kicking around my PC...but I haven't done anything noteworthy. My question is, will DamsManager be banned or anything? I mean, he is OBVIOUSLY hacking. Has anyone else heard anything? Anyways, this is pretty scary. Losing Missions...*shudder* Don't even mention it around me! And right now? Seeing that message pop up would be a REAL shock. But what's kind of surprising is the number of people. I don't mean that that many people were hacking, it's been happening for a long time. But that many people getting caught? Either they're just being REALLY nitpicky or they have a new way of detecting...*gulp* uhh...I gotta go...YOU DIDN'T SEE ME! #MissingNo
