So today I ask you, my friends, during your play-through(s) of Pokémon Sun and Moon, what are some things you remember as a single event. Whether they be funny or serious, post them. Mine has to be when clearing the area before the Battle Tree. My team was a little under-level so we were not in our best shape, then I reached the end and thought there would be a Pokémon Center. What I got was a battle against either Red or Blue, and I shut off my game in a semi rage-quit. When I rebooted the game, I saved directly before the fight with Dexio and the Mega Alakazam, so I tried to get through that mess again. THEN after that happened, and I was going through the area. The game cartridge popped out of my 3DS and I lost my progress. FINALLY I made it to the battle with either Red or Blue, and I was going to fight Red, and I misclicked and fought Blue. IT TOOK ME FOUR SEPARATE TRIES TO GET TO RED. BUT IT WAS WORTH IT!
When I first battled Lunala at the Altar I lowered its hp to red and then put it to sleep. With most legendaries having a ridiculously low catch rate, I assumed it would take a couple of pokeballs or soft reset attempts if I wanted it in a certain type of ball. For lulz though, the first ball I threw was the one moon ball I had saved... and that's all it took to catch it! That was the first legendary Pokémon ever I caught in a Pokéball other than an ultra ball on the first try... and to top it off the moon ball animation pops out little crescent moons that look exactly like the tips of its wings, color and shape alike. I found out later its catch rate was 45(which still isn't that high), but even in despite of that, I'm still amazed at how that happened in the moment of things.
I'm not all the way through but really I have to say the first island in general, the arrival sequence in particular felt really nice and you really had a sense of the mother not being a random npc and that you were really there with a purpose, and the house seems lived in. And the new environment is so vibrant, it's just a really nice welcoming atmosphere ^ ^
It is hard to pick one moment but it had to have been when I was first climbing up the mountain to challenge the elite 4. I felt like I had earned it for once like I deserved to do this. It was a feeling of victory entering the center room, to be with the Pokémon I put so much time and love into, I no longer felt like I was being delayed from getting my end credit scene but I felt like my Pokémon were ready to be by my side and take on these battles.
There were two, actually. One, it was late at night. Nearly 1AM. I was going to hit the hay after I went to Malie Gardens. What greeted me was a fight with Guzma. I got destroyed. My Dartrix was a few levels away from evolving, so I trained a bit (nearly passed out but whatever) and went back to Guzma with a Decidueye. Needless to say, I won. I got, like, an hour of sleep but it was worth it. The second was when I was fighting Solgaleo, my Golisopod got to half health... and ran away. It ran away from a legendary fight. My last save was before Ultra Space. The battle ended and... Solgaleo was still there. There was just something to funny to me about it. Just one big sun lion waiting for me to get my finicky Golisopod under control.
I do not remember where this was but what I remember is when I spent a long while on one trial or it may have even been the Elite Four when one trainer decided they wanted to spam pain split on me and I got very agitated because every time I would get close to winning they would use pain split. Most of the game was really memorable however and even battling against Lusamine was probably the most memorable moment for me.
Spoiler This moment would have to be fighting the Ultra Beast Lusamine. I was at my grandmother's house at the moment, with my younger siblings and younger cousin watching a cheering me on. That was one of the best moments in Pokémon Sun that I ever had.
That moment when I threw a quick ball at solgaleo and caught it. Not the first time I've done that, heck I caught a lake spirit in a Pokéball I threw out of frustration and spite but the truth is it never gets old.
I think my favorite moment was when Prof Kukui walked up after I beat the Elite Four. I was amazed and a bit unbelieving at first, but that battle was so much fun to do!
The entire Battle Royale Dome thing. Kukui showing up in that ridiculous 'Masked Royal' costume literally made me almost die from laughing. And I loved battling Gladion even though Null took my Razor Leaf like it was nothing and Rockruff Protected and Brionne dodged it...I still won! Actually, the entire Aether storyline was FREAKING AMAZING, but mostly raiding Aether with Hau and my favorite edgelord. And that bit where you battle Guzma after Gladion apparently lost, and all the Team Skull Grunts are lying on the ground and you can't interact with them, I was like 'wait, are they unconscious-wait did Gladion knock them out?! GOD he's a badass!' #MissingNo
Oh, and my Mimikyu taking Nanu's Alolan Persian's Z-Move. It's Disguise hadn't been broken yet. I was sure she was dead (I misclicked when trying to send in another Pokémon) because I was watching that huge dramatic animation and being like WELP DEAD, but then I realized she hadn't taken damage. I was like WUT and then... It's Disguise was busted! I laughed so hard. And then proceeded to Play Rough that Garfield imitation. It happened again when I battled Kukui. His Incineroar was facing my loyal Mimikyu, and I decided to Play Rough for the Dark typing and because I wanted her to get in the battle. Suddenly the Z-Move animation starts up. My Disguise was fine. I don't think that Mimikyu has ever taken damage from a Z-Move... #MissingNo
