I still can't believe this isn't already here, but here we go! Hey guys, [member='Aura'] here with a thread that I think everyone will enjoy! Alola is a region filled with so many different characters! From the Trial Captains to the Kahunas, Team Skull to the Ather Foundation, and everyone in between! But, out of all of these wonderful characters, which one is your favourite? Personally, I'd have to go with Lillie. Not only is she excellent waifu material, but her entire existence is what made my journey through Alola as awesome as it was. This is the first time a Pokémon game has done this; put our character into someone else's story. Even from the beginning, the opening logo happens after the cutscene with Lillie, so it was obvious she was going to be a focal point of the game. She's also the first character to get real progression that we see, both physically with her change of appearance and mentally with her overcoming her fears, and she's not even a Trainer! Sure, the rivals got that sort-of treatment too (Blue becomes less cocky, Silver begins to love Pokémon, Wally grows up, Barry learns that there's more to a fight than strength, Cheren learns the same thing, Bianca becomes independant, Hugh finds a cat, and we won't talk about the XY gang, they're kinda just... there), but everyone's story in this game revolves around Lillie. Your character only comes into contact with Tapu Koko because of Lillie and Nebby, and other characters are affected by her too, like Hau, Kukui and Burnet, Gladion, Wicke and even Lusamina. Needless to say, Lillie is my absolute favourite character for Sun and Moon, and if they're going to make a Kanto remake, I wouldn't be surprised it they were Lillie-Red and Lillie-Green! So, enough about my favourite character, who is your favourite character? Leave a comment down below, and I'll see you all next time! This is [member='Aura'], signing out for now!
I have to agree. Lillie's character and development was executed perfectly, and honestly, if she were real, I might fall for her myself. The only reason Gladion is my profile picture and not her, is because, well, I'm a boy and I didn't want to make that confusing. Her and her family were the best part of my play through of Sun and Moon, and Lillie is among my top five favorite video game characters of all time.
I think Lillie is the best hands down. Other than May from ORAS and Shauna from XY, she is the only female NPC that I generally cared about. Lillie had spectacular character development and I really hope she comes back in a future Pokémon game.
Lillie is my fave she is just such a cute girl and its clear where she has her good looks considering what a good looking mom she has Thou Lillie and Lusamina are #1 there is a second best Acerola
I wish that I could be nice enough to say that Lillie's my favorite character as well. And my wish is granted.
Like almost everyone else, I adore Lillie. She's absolutely adorable and I loved watching her grow and mature throughout the game. That's probably an obvious choice though, so her aside I really did love Acerola for her cute, quirky personality and Ilima because he was just fun overall. I found him to be the most memorable of the trial captains.. maybe it's because he's the first one, but ignoring those Team Skull grunts in the cutscene where you meet him was the funniest thing lol.
Although Lusamine is one of my favorite villains ever (since she is a prime example of good intentions that turned bad and thus began control freak 101), my favorite Alolan character is Anabel (though I guess she technically is from Hoenn but is brought back this gen so that still counts to me xD). Anabel is just so mysterious and fierce doing top secret missions and important behind the scenes work. I thought it was really interesting how her existence in the game is in relation to the Ultra Space holes and why her theme in the battle tree is an exact original to the GBA Battle Frontier Brain theme and not the remixed one from ORAS.
I don't disagree with Lillie being a really good character. But I also have to throw Kiawe in there. I mean he's a fire type user and is brave enough to host his trial on a volcano. I meant hat takes some skill. Due to the fact a volcano can erupt at any moment. So it's really a test of bravery and precision to host a trial up there.
I agree that he is cool, but unlike every single other person in the entire game, he is portrayed better in the anime.
I've always had a soft spot for Nanu. His super jaded personality not only gets a laugh out of me, but... is actually kind of relatable. And despite a lot of people not liking Hau, he's my personal favorite of all the "friendly" rivals in the series so far; despite being weaker than the player, it's really nice to see him keep a positive attitude towards battling. Unlike the rivals from X/Y, who feel more like a group of kids that you're just tagging along with, Hau really does feel like your friend.
I agree with Nanu. It's very relatable and with the situation, he's in. For Hau, I'm in the middle. Because there is currently a theory that Hau isn't the rival. You are. Your true rival is Kukui but anyways Hau is an actual friend compared to X and Y. Depending on the Character too. For example. Serena if you play as the guy is really a good friend. Shauna and Tierno and Trevor are truly just weak rivals with a lack of development. Then there is the same with Calem. He's also a good rival when he's away from the others while still being a good friend. I mean he is full of information that helps you along the way. Yes Diantha and Lysandre's introductions weren't very helpful but since he introduces you at that time frame of seeing Lysandre it really shows off Lysandre's intention and if you look deep enough you can see that he has intentions to do something to make his dream come true. Even if it is against the morals of society.
Hard to believe it, but I actually agree! Lillie is such a realistic and true portrayal of, well, us. The fear and apprehension that evolves into something stronger than you'd expect is coming through for Lillie, and I really like that. I loved watching Lillie change and grow, from the person who called on you to save Nebby to the girl who decides to move to Kanto to save her mother. Lillie and Gladion both have that character development that I love so much. Of course, our favorite edgelord ties for first place with me. I mean, in the end he's not a bad guy, he's a lot better than he'll admit. I mean, the whole messed-up-family storyline underlines the true devotion to his family and character depth Gladion has. I really looked forward to every scene he appeared in, and he gave me some of the best battles I ever had. Let's go LunarEdge! I also adored how he's got a Sneasel and a freaking Crobat! Silver is my favorite rival, and the fact that Gladion has two of his Pokémon gives me that nostalgia. I really love the fact that Null and that Golbat both evolve through friendship and trust, showing just how much the dude loves his Pokémon. Here's to the Kanto remakes! Nanu also deserves a special mention, mostly because of that whole 'I'll make sure your remains make it out' thing he says in Po Town, which just made me laugh so hard because I'm that cheerful morbid death-and-goth girl.
I think Professor Burnet was my favorite Alolan Character. She is so strong and despite being married pursues her own career. And it's obvious she loves her husband.
I really like Plumeria. She's the kind of cool older sister that I'd love to have, and her protectiveness toward the grunts is adorable. I really wish she'd gotten more screentime Also, I love Hau. Even though I was sick of rivals that are also your friends by gen 7, I found myself really liking Hau. Like Crest said, he actually feels like your friend and not just a rival that's been shoehorned into the game because each Pokémon game has to have one.
