      So Marvel has decided to make Thor a woman in an attempt to engage with more fans. I'm not against female empowerment and whatnot but changing a character that is so popular and well-known for a period to introduce a new plot and bring in fans is long-winded and ends up causing more people to dislike the inevitable series of comics. Sure, she can be badass and have a legitimate backstory but why not parallel them instead of stripping Thor of his 'title' (which is actually his name, so that doesn

        To be fair, there’s been a kind of tradition from time to time of someone else gaining the power of Thor. Beta Ray Bill was a horse-faced alien guy who wielded Mjolnir. Hell, at one point Thor was a frog of all things. So I think if fans can accept Thor as a frog and a horse-faced alien, they should be able to accept a woman being able to pick up that hammer and title and wield it for a while. Honestly I'm waiting to judge based on whether or not her plot is good or not, as with anything else. Hopefully they can do her storyline justice.

        I get your point but you even said yourself "from time to time" which indicates elasticity with Thor as a character. Here they've just come out and said, "This is the Thor from now on, she's female and she's not Lady Thor, Thorina or any other female incarnation of Thor, just Thor." That phrase itself says that this looks like a permanent thing (even though most of us dont believe it is). Beta Ray Bill and Thor fought for the possession of Mjolnir and Bill eventually got his own weapon. The problem is Bill was always known as Bill, not as the original Thor. This is a different case. It's basically an identity crisis.

        I really don't like this change either. Hopefully they get enough of a hint from the irritated fans that they go back. I mean, I'm not against female superheros, but taking a canon male character and making them female for no good reason and not in an alternate universe style? No.

        That's not even bringing up what this will do to fan art and headcanons. It could get scary. I mean, if Thor becomes a badass hot female, and people already do fanart out the wazoo of Loki being awesome... Uh... I think I'll stay off of Tumblr for a while.

        I know, I was disappointed about that. You can't really call it a trailer, more of an announcement video. The game is still under development so gameplay footage would probably come at a later stage.
