"What a beachfront this is. Its much bigger than the ones we had back home. Looks a lot more fun too. Let's find something fun to do."
@Sugar @122 Generation (You can: Play volleyball Play Frisbee Listen to the band Swim Go snorkeling Surf Scuba dive (if you have the proper training) Take a sailboat tour Or just relax on the beach)
@Sugar @122 Generation The surf shack was not too busy. In addition to renting boards, there were boards to buy and a board maintenance and repair bay.
"Whoa... This beach is huge. It's much bigger than the one I have at home, and clearer too," Martien remarked. Relative to her home in Relifac-le-Haut, the waters here were much clearer. It was tempting to wade into. Unfortunately, Martine was not much of a swimmer. She instead went to check the Mantine rentals, despite her fear of Pokémon, while Alyssa went to get her surfboard.
@Sugar @122 Generation Luckily, a beginner's class on Mantine surfing was just getting underway. "While our Mantines are used to people surfing on them, not all of them want a human on their backs." the instructor explained. "So pick a Mantine with a gentle personality."
Elsewhere, Martine went to check on a Mantine and picked one she liked. Eventually, she was ready to continue her class.
@Sugar @122 Generation The Mantine lovingly nuzzled Martine. Luckily, there were no warnings or alerts out for surfing. "Respect all warnings and alerts." the teacher went on. "Wild Pokémon attacks are no laughing matter!"
"Say, the waters looking pretty nice today, innit? Waves are decently sized as well." Alyssa sounded pretty confident for someone who hadn't surfed in a few years.
@Sugar @122 Generation "And best of all? No alerts or warnings today." the clerk smiled. "But we rely on researchers and beachgoers to let us know of rough seas, bad weather, wild Pokémon, or rocks."
@Sugar @122 Generation Before long, it was time for the beginning surfers to take to the water. Those trying out Mantine surfing would take their first ride a little further down the shore.
Martine was not a big fan of water, but she was looking forward to riding the waves nonetheless. She went to change into her swimsuit and a borrowed wetsuit before taking her Mantine to the water to the shore. "Alright, mon ami, let's get going," Martine said.
Having not surfed on over 5 years, Alyssa was a little anxious. Still, she swam out with her board towards everyone else. "Let's catch some real ones" She said confidently.
(I sound like a broken record, but for her first time surfing in a few years, Alyssa did better than she's ever done before.)
