    NFC North!

    Chicago Bears
    • Solidify tight end: The Bears have a lot of things to do in free agency and the offseason. With few playmakers besides wide receiver Allen Robinson, they don't have many proven players. It's starting to be a crunch time for quarterback Mitch Trubisky. However if they're wanting Trubisky to perform like the quarterbacks taken behind him; Patrick Mahomes and DeShaun Watson; they're going to need to give him new weapons. Tight end Trey Burton has not panned out after spending the majority of the season on injured reserve, they're unable to find a starting running back between Tarik Cohen and David Montgomery. A good start to getting more playmakers for the Bears is the tight end. Sign someone like Falcons' Austin Hooper to a long term deal.
    • Trade for draft capital: The Bears have no first round pick, given to the Las Vegas Raiders for Khalil Mack. They do have 2 seconds, but can likely garner themselves more first and seconds by giving up a starting player for more in the mid to late rounds. There's always gems to find there and the Bears have publicized that linebacker Leonard Floyd is one of the guys available. Floyd has had a disappointing season after a strong showing in his rookie year, but he could find success elsewhere.
    • Sign HaHa Clinton Dix again: Chicago is trending towards not retaining many of its upcoming free agents, but one that should be kept in the Windy City is safety HaHa Clinton Dix. Picked up on a one year deal from the Redskins. Clinton Dix performed admirably in his contract, tallying some of the most passes defended and securing two key interceptions. In the safety tandem with Eddie Jackson, they can be one of the best defensive back groups in the NFC. A four year extension would be advisable and done quickly, as the safety group in this free agency is small and many teams will be scrambling to get them.
    Detroit Lions
    • Draft best defensive player available: This goes almost without saying. Much of what the Detroit Lions do this offseason is going to be determined by their draft. With third overall, the Lions will have their share of extremely talented defensive players to pick from. Many experts are guessing them to take Ohio State's Jeff Okudah to address their big need for a cornerback. Okudah is easily the best corner available, however much of it is going to be determined by the Redskins at number two overall. Rumors have it that the Redskins may look for a quarterback which leaves Chase Young; the best defensive player in the entire draft to fall in their lap.
    • Explore trade options with Darius Slay: If the draft goes as expected and the Lions take Okudah; that will probably spell the end for starting corner Darius Slay's time in Detroit. Even before the draft, the Lions have expressed an interest in trading Slay to a team willing to negotiate. The Lions could definitely acquire some draft picks or players to put on the depth chart.
    • Trade draft picks with Dolphins/Chargers: The Dolphins and Chargers are heading into the draft behind the Lions with completely opposite needs in the first round. Lions will need to improve defense while the other two are going to be looking for their next quarterback. Both teams could be talking to them with the third overall in play if they feel like their guy is going to be gone before then. The Dolphins seem to be the more willing team in this case with more picks to spend; swapping Detroit's third for Miami's fifth overall and they add a late second.
    Green Bay Packers
    • Get another wideout opposite DaVante Adams: The Packers are likely to be one of the more active players in free agency. With the likely release of tight end Jimmy Graham and wideout Geronimo Allison going somewhere else; DaVante Adams is going to need help. A big salary cap might be just enough to lure the likes of Amari Cooper or Nelson Agholor.
    • Re-sign Bryan Bulaga: Bryan Bulaga combined with David Bahktiari have done an impressive effort in keeping Aaron Rodgers' blindside protected. Bulaga's had a history of injuries, but when healthy, he's allowed among the fewest sacks and breaking lines in the league. This is going to be important in a division that has Khalil Mack, Trey Flowers and Danielle Hunter.
    • Decide who the main running back is, pay him and let the other go: Green Bay has two prominent running backs, both drafted in 2017. Jamaal Williams seems to get the favorite despite Aaron Jones co-leading the NFL in rushing touchdowns last season. The Packers will need to figure out who they will want to keep and trade the other to a running back needy team. Both will be due extensions soon enough and it's likely Green Bay is going to fulfill one. Williams has the better upside while Jones has proven himself already. The Packers' best option in this case would be to keep Jones and offer Williams up for a possible trade.
    Minnesota Vikings
    • Extend Kirk Cousins: The Vikings so far don't have any plans for a quarterback if Kirk Cousins walks. He is in the final year of his contract and has engineered so far a solid system with his team. Minnesota's too far down in the draft to get a meaningful quarterback and their first round pick is best spent on a more pressing need of cornerbacks and offensive line. While getting someone new to take snaps is the cheaper option; Cousins has proven experience and won games. He'll have to do better in the postseason, but he's their best option in moving forward.
    • Fix the offensive line: Aside from center Garrett Bradbury and guard Josh Kline, most of the Vikings offensive line will need to be changed out. It's an ideal draft with many stout, immovable tackles as well as a number hitting free agency. A solid left tackle is the most important with generally a good number of guards from within. Keeping the trenches on the offense needs to be a priority over most other priorities by the Vikings.
    • Part ways with Xavier Rhodes and draft his replacement: Minnesota's top cornerback Xavier Rhodes is drawing a lot of salary as well as getting older. Despite being a beloved player, he'll likely be cut if he doesn't agree to restructure his contract. The other two starting corners of Mackensie Alexander and Trae Waynes are also set to hit free agency. Waynes seems like the better one to re-sign, but the Vikings cornerback group is going to look much differently this coming season. There's a possibility that they could spend their first round pick on Trevon Diggs from Alabama and reunite him with his brother Stephon.

    The NFC South!

    Atlanta Falcons
    • Draft defense: It's almost a no-brainer that the Atlanta Falcons biggest need has been their defense. With impending decisions on big names at both sides of the ball, it's pretty clear that defense is going to have to be the higher priority in this draft. Many predict someone like Yetur Gross Matos, Terrell Lewis or AJ Epenesa. Former first round pick Vic Beasley is likely not to return after the new more impactful presences of Takkarist McKinley and Grady Jarrett. Adding Epenesa to that line would be the start to strengthen their pass rush. Cornerback is also an option with the possibility of longtime starter Desmond Trufant getting released unless he restructures.
    • Trade DeVonta Freeman to the Bills: This is a win-win situation. The Bills will likely be looking for a veteran presence in the backfield if they opt not to re-sign Frank Gore. Turning to Atlanta for Devonta Freeman seems like a solid choice and they can easily receive a fourth or fifth round pick to give off a player who may end up being released anyway.
    • Begin looking at the future of quarterback: It's still early and quarterback Matt Ryan hasn't expressed any intention to retire anytime soon. But he's also 34 which is closer to the older margin. While it isn't much of a concern now, it's probable that it could happen soon. His contract expires in 2023, so that's three more seasons of him at the helm. The Falcons should already start looking at his eventual replacement and it may not come this draft, but it's a creeping priority that's going to only get bigger as the years go on and it remains unaddressed.
    Carolina Panthers
    • Pass up on a quarterback in first round: The Carolina Panthers might finally be moving towards the end of the Cam Newton era. There's been no suggestions of him leaving just yet though, so it could mean they're going squeeze the most they can out of him before he gets released. However with the seventh pick in the draft, they're in a prime spot to grab their next franchise quarterback. However at the same time, getting one at that point would mean passing up a lot of extremely talented players who fit much bigger needs. So unless someone like Justin Herbert or Tua Tagovailoa happens to fall into their lap (which is doubtful to happen) they should not reach for another quarterback and use their pick to strengthen their defense somewhere along all positions.
    • Sign Hunter Henry: Chargers tight end Hunter Henry is going to be getting a lot of interest as one of the few up and coming tight ends in free agency. Los Angeles has stated they're interesting in retaining him, however Carolina might make an offer of its own with a sustainable salary cap to add him to a dynamic offense alongside running back Christian McCafferey and wide receivers DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel. They'll have to move quickly though, as Henry is reportedly being targeted by six or more other teams including the Chargers themselves.
    • Trade up to draft Isaiah Simmons in the draft: This goes hand in hand with resisting the urge to draft that quarterback. Following DPoY and First Team All-Pro linebacker Luke Kuechly's retirement, the Panthers turn to Shaq Thompson to take over Kuechly's duties. Panthers' new head coach Matt Rhule favors an adaptable defense able to change schemes on the fly and force mismatches in their favor. While Thompson has the skills, adding another rangy athletic linebacker/strong safety hybrid in Isaiah Simmons. Having two linebackers with a rush/coverage ability can increase the defense's flexibility and potentially make Carolina's defense one of the most feared in the league if given enough time. They will most likely have to trade up to get Simmons however. It's widely believed that he will be taken fourth overall by the New York Giants and if Carolina wants to get him, they're going to have to pay up a king's ransom.
    New Orleans Saints
    • Bring back Drew Brees: The New Orleans Saints window to go to the Super Bowl is rapidly coming to a close. Their best shot at getting there in their short time would be to bring back Drew Brees. The longtime Saints quarterback has left his future uncertain with his status going into the offseason as an unrestricted free agent. It's mainly up to Brees himself on what to do, but the Saints' best point in moving forward would be to bring him back into the fold. A year or two as well as letting him walk out on his own terms.
    • Re-sign Vonn Bell: The four year safety is entering free agency as a possible coveted player. He's going to get a lot of attention, but he should best re-sign as soon as possible. Bell and cornerback Marshon Lattimore are due extensions as well, so locking him up under a deal will strengthen the defensive backfield for years to come.
    • Extend Alvin Kamara: Like Bell and Lattimore, running back Alvin Kamara is going to be due a much larger contract and it will require a lot of their cap space. The Saints could start by shaving off some of the higher salary players which might regrettably include defensive lineman Cameron Jordan. It's going to be a tough decision to determine who stays and who goes, but expect general manager Mickey Loomis to make the right decisions and he is fond of Kamara.
    Tampa Bay Buccaneers
    • Do not re-sign Jameis Winston: The Jameis Winston era is most likely over in Tampa Bay. After a 32-30 touchdown to interception ratio; it proved to be the final straw for fans and coaches alike. He's also coming off multiple surgeries last offseason that was partially to blame for his dismal performance. It's going to be a tough pill for the Bucs' front office to swallow, but it's arguable for the best of a potentially explosive offense with the wideout duo of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Head coach Bruce Arians has not said explicitly what the Buccaneers will do in the quarterback situation save for exploring all options. Either way, expect someone different to take the helm of Tampa's offense.
    • Franchise tag Shaquil Barrett: Former Broncos linebacker Shaq Barrett signed a one year "prove it" deal with the Buccaneers and we all thought nothing about it. Now he is the recipient of the Deacon Jones Award for leading the NFL regular season in quarterback sacks and proved to be one of the biggest defensive player steals last free agency. He's most definitely due an extension and it's going to be a lucrative one. And the Buccaneers won't be the only team trying to court him after seeing that impressive performance. The best thing for Tampa to do would be to use their franchise tag, gauging the other offers and giving him the best extension that fits both sides.
    • Find a new tackle to replace Demar Dotson: Tampa Bay's offensive line didn't do Jameis any favors while he had that awful season and the first step to fix it would be to get the best tackle they can find to fill in for the older and injury prone Demar Dotson despite him being the longest tenured member on the team. The Bucs pick fourteenth in the draft and it's possible one of the big four names in the offensive line could fall to them. An ideal pick would be Georgia's Andrew Thomas or Iowa's Tristan Wirfs. Those two have among the most versatility and easily day one starters at the right tackle position.

Alright it's that time again where we do a mock draft. The actual NFL draft is slightly more than a month out and I'll be doing a 3 full round mock and then readdress it prior to the start of the season. That gives us a total of 96 selections. I will not include compensatory picks. Let’s get started.

    1. Cincinnati Bengals - QB Joe Burrow - LSU: This is an almost undisputed pick. The Bengals get their franchise quarterback; a native out of Ohio to begin the draft and their season turnaround. Burrow’s clearly the most talented quarterback available with that phenomenal performance of the most recent LSU season.

    2. Washington Redskins - DL Chase Young - Ohio State: While the New York Giants handed the Washington Redskins two losses with their first round pick last year; Daniel Jones. They’ll be the real losers when Washington drafts the best player in the draft overall. Although it’s left uncertain who the quarterback will be; defensive coach Ron Rivera is not going to let this one-of-a-kind edge rusher slip out of his grasp.

    3. Miami Dolphins - QB Tua Tagovailoa - Alabama: The Dolphins move up in the draft ahead of the Chargers to select their own franchise quarterback out of fear the Chargers would do the same. It comes as a cost in giving Detroit a couple of picks, but a necessary move as they feel this is the man who will be the new face of the franchise. Tagovailoa has some concerns with his durability, but his talent and intellect should pay off quickly.
      1. Dolphins trade first round pick (5), third round pick (70) and fourth round pick (TBD)
      2. Lions trade first round pick (3)
    4. New York Giants - LB Isaiah Simmons - Clemson: Simmons is one of the most versatile players in this draft. A defensive swiss army knife, he has strong skills in rushing, covering, nickel packages and reading offenses. The Giants defense has lacked a core and functioning brain which Simmons can provide a building block for.

    5. Detroit Lions - CB Jeff Okudah - Ohio State: Trading down in the draft wasn’t so bad, sacrificing a spot two picks prior, getting a nice haul in return while still being able to get the number one prospect on their team. Okudah’s rangy covering skills are going to be useful for the Lions’ depleted secondary after Darius Slay’s imminent departure.
      1. Lions trade first round pick (3rd)
      2. Dolphins trade first round pick (5), third round pick (72) and fourth round pick (TBD)
    6. Los Angeles Chargers - QB Justin Herbert - Oregon: The Chargers do the smart thing and not talk their way up the draft board to give up a multitude of picks for someone who will eventually fall to them. Herbert is another NFL ready quarterback with better durability than Tua and a similar dynamic playmaker to the departed Philip Rivers.

    7. Carolina Panthers - DT Derrick Brown - Auburn: Carolina’s taken the right steps and while they may be moving on from Cam Newton, they’ll resist that urge to draft a quarterback and take the best defensive player to supplement their line. Imagine having to block him and Kawann Short.

    8. Arizona Cardinals - WR CeeDee Lamb - Oklahoma: Kyler Murray would be salivating at the fact one of his favorite targets out of college would be in prime position to go to them. Why not continue the success? Lamb’s speed combined with Christian Kirk’s skills and veteran Larry Fitzgerald could revitalize Arizona’s air raid offense.

    9. Jacksonville Jaguars - OT Tristan Wirfs - Iowa: The Jacguars would love to get more on their defensive line, but their offensive line could also use some work to keep their quarterback protected whether it be Foles or Minshew. Wirfs can be plugged in as a tackle or guard.

    10. Cleveland Browns - OT Mekhi Becton - Louisville: Seeing Jacksonville take one of the big tackle names off the board prompts the Cleveland office to do the same. They have to do a better job at keeping Baker Mayfield protected. Putting Becton is a good step to hopefully remedy the mistake they made with Greg Robinson.

    11. New York Jets - OT Andrew Thomas - Georgia: We see a third straight offensive lineman taken here that will improve the Jets’ woeful pass protection. Thomas is another plug and play blocker with very good versatility.

    12. Las Vegas Raiders - WR Henry Ruggs - Alabama: Ruggs seems to have surged in front of his fellow Crimson Tide wideout Jerry Jeudy, but his speed is undeniable and going to be a valuable asset when paired with the taller Tyrell Williams and Darren Waller.

    13. Indianapolis Colts - DL K’Lavon Chassion - LSU: Justin Houston has only one more year on his contract if he doesn’t get cut and Indianapolis had a serviceable defense despite no large names. Their pass rush game is in need of an upgrade and Chassion remains the best player on this board.

    14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - OT Jedrick Willis - Alabama: It’s tempting for the Buccaneers to go quarterback here, but regardless of who it’s never a bad idea to replenish the offensive line with another powerful tackle over the aging Demar Dotson.

    15. Denver Broncos - WR Jerry Jeudy - Alabama: Jeudy’s got amazing footwork, intellect and a natural playmaking ability. It’s Denver’s hope that he and Courtland Sutton can accelerate Drew Lock’s own abilities to get the Broncos back to contention.

    16. Atlanta Falcons - DT Javon Kinlaw - South Carolina: Atlanta’s original target is believed to be Chassion who was taken three picks earlier. However it’s likely not enough to give up what the Colts might demand in order to be in a position to draft him. Instead, they reinforce the interior of the D-Line next to Takkarist McKinley and Grady Jarrett with Kinlaw’s disruptive run clogging play.

    17. Dallas Cowboys - S Xavier McKinney - Alabama: The Cowboy’s biggest hole and weakness last season was their defensive backfield. The likes of which are not helped by letting go of Byron Jones. In a division where teams are pass heavy and competitive, Dallas gives its safety group a much needed upgrade.

    18. Miami Dolphins - WR Tee Higgins - Clemson: Higgins has snuck his way up on the rankings with a rapport of a talented receiver. Now that Miami has its quarterback, they can start surrounding him with the talent needed to make them flourish. Higgins is easily the best receiver left on the board and a good start.

    19. Las Vegas Raiders - LB Kenneth Murray - Alabama: The Raiders were left unimpressed with their linebacking group and let go of a number that were in that position. Murray’s a rangy and athletic linebacker that can do a number of things despite his errant decision making at times.

    20. Jacksonville Jaguars - CB Kristian Fulton - LSU: Jalen Ramsey left for the money he wanted, so they grab the best defensive back to take his place. Fulton joins a young inexperienced backfield, but ripe with promise to be tested in a pass-heavy division.

    21. Philadelphia Eagles - WR Jalen Raegor - TCU: Raegor seems like a bit of a reach for someone like Philadelphia, but the Eagles are desperately in need of a playmaking wideout. Alshon Jeffrey is getting older and they’ve finally given up on Nelson Agholor’s lack of explosiveness. Raegor has that in spades as well as separation on verticals. He could definitely improve on his ball security though.

    22. Buffalo Bills - WR Laviska Shenault - Colorado: Josh Allen gets a new toy with Shenault who can change the playbook with his versatility. If they can look past his injury history and he remains healthy, he’ll be the Bills wildcard player who’s dangerous no matter where he lines up.

    23. New England Patriots - DL AJ Epenesa - Iowa: The Patriots could go a myriad of ways here, but they instead take a defensive lineman who brings immense pressure and perseverance in every play. Epenesa’s play is a stark reminder of ex-Patriot Trey Flowers who was among their best defenders in recent years.

    24. Cincinnati Bengals - WR Justin Jefferson - LSU: The Bengals give first overall Joe Burrow a familiar face as a teammate. Jefferson has strong quick slant route runnings, but lacks deep threat ability and jump ball. Jefferson can gain a lot of ground in yards after catch and is at his best in extending plays.
      1. Saints trade first round pick (24th)
      2. Bengals trade second round pick (33rd) and cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick
    25. Minnesota Vikings - CB Trevon Diggs - Alabama: Pretty much a match made in heaven. Vikings are in need of a corner after Xavier Rhodes gets releaed and Trae Waynes goes as a free agent. Diggs also becomes teammates with his elder brother Stefon while providing an excellent player in a tall rangy frame to shadow and shutdown the enemy’s primary receiver.

    26. Miami Dolphins - RB De’Andre Swift - Georgia: Adding to the arsenal of the Dolphins, Swift is the best running back in the draft with the dual threat as an every-down back as well as being able to catch passes and wiggle through screens effectively. He should flourish in Miami.

    27. Seattle Seahawks - DL Yetur Gross-Matos - Penn State: Ziggy Ansah, Jarran Reed and Jadeveon Clowney have been all left murky at best for their future in Seattle. It’s possible all three stay, but also could leave. The best way for Seattle to prepare for this situation is to get themselves another star pass rusher on the opposite side of last year’s first round LJ Collier.

    28. Baltimore Ravens - DL Zack Baun - Wisconsin: Baun’s got incredible versatility and can assume a starting role immediately, which will be much more important if the Ravens don’t re-sign Matt Judon.

    29. Tennessee Titans - OL Josh Jones - Houston: It’s very possible Tennessee could lose tackles Jack Conklin and Dennis Kelly to free agency. With Taylor Lewan being the only notable name remaining, they’ll want to keep the offensive line as stout as possible for Derrick Henry...assuming he stays too.

    30. Green Bay Packers - WR Denzel Mims - Baylor: Aaron Rodgers like to make ridiculous deep passes and he’s going to love having another talented playmaker. Unlike Geronimo Allison; Mims has his nimble skills and ability to catch tight passes, but can also potentially be molded into a second deep threat to compliment Adams.

    31. Indianapolis Colts - QB Jordan Love - Utah State: The Colts wrap up a few of their more valuable draft picks, but it’s worth it to grab a potential star. Jordan Love could arguably be the most talented quarterback in the entire draft, but his decision making is still raw. He has athleticism capable to extend plays, scramble and throw into tight windows on the move. A perfect fit for a rebuilding franchise and a chance to shine if he pulls through.
      1. 49ers trade first round pick (31) and fifth round pick (TBD)
      2. Colts trade second round pick (34), third round pick (75) and fifth round pick (160)
    32. Kansas City Chiefs - DT Neville Gallimore - Oklahoma: If the Chiefs manage to sign defensive tackle Chris Jones to a long term deal, moving him back to the exterior again and then putting Gallimore in between Jones and Frank Clark. It will begin to make their defense as terrifying to face as their offense.

    33. New Orleans Saints - LB Patrick Queen - LSU: Linebacker Patrick Queen gets to stay in his home state thanks to the Saints. A tall, rangy and smart linebacker that can serve as the active brain of the Saints strengthening defense with an uncanny instinct for the football and predicting plays.
      1. Bengals trade second round pick (33) and cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick
      2. Saints trade first round pick (24)
    34. San Francisco 49ers - S Grant Delpit -LSU: Jimmie Ward has shown flashes of excellent play, but his inability to stay healthy prompts San Francisco to move on from him and grab his replacement. Delpit is much more durable with an aggressive disruption that can be a big help to the 49ers’ dominant defense. He just needs to improve his tackling.
      1. Colts trade second round pick (34), third round pick (75) and fifth round pick (160)
      2. 49ers trade first round pick (31) and fifth round pick (TBD)
    35. Detroit Lions - DT Raekwon Davis - Alabama: Lions aren’t likely to be bringing back Mike Daniels and probably letting A’Shawn Robinson head elsewhere. They’ll also be a quieter team in free agency, so this is the best place to grab the next guy up. Davis’ aggro bulk is strong enough to warrant double blocking that’s sure to get offensive lines frustrated.

    36. New York Giants - OG Cesar Ruiz - Michigan: The Giants need to make it a mission to protect Daniel Jones’ blindside if he is to ever succeed. Ruiz is the best guard prospect in this draft and a better building block alongside Nate Solder.

    37. Chicago Bears - DL Terrell Lewis - Alabama: Considering they’ll likely be letting Leonard Floyd go to free agency, the Bears got to have someone who can take advantage of Khalil Mack’s presence. Lewis could be that person.
      1. Chargers trade second round pick (37) and 2021 third round pick (TBD)
      2. Bears trade second round pick (43) and 2021 third round pick (TBD)
    38. Carolina Panthers - OG Lloyd Cushenberry - LSU: Carolina continues to rotate into their offensive line. Cushenberry played his college career for the most part as a center, but can also move to guard.

    39. Seattle Seahawks - OT Lucas Niang - TCU: The Seahawks haul in the Dolphins’ first round disappointment Charles Harris in hopes of reigniting his talent while adding a day one starter to improve their woeful offensive line.
      1. Dolphins trade second round pick (39) and LB Charles Harris.
      2. Seahawks trade second round pick (59) and fifth round pick (TBD)
    40. Arizona Cardinals - RB JK Dobbins - Ohio State: The Cardinals are likely to be done with David Johnson and Kenyan Drake’s future with the team remains up in the air as well. If Drake doesn’t re-sign, then expect them to grab another running back that oozes with explosive potential.

    41. Los Angeles Rams - DL Josh Uche - Michigan: With the impending departure of Dante Fowler and Michael Brockers, there’s little chance both will be retained. Bringing in Uche can do something to fill the void of their absence and force teams to divide focus off Aaron Donald.
      1. Browns trade second round pick (41) and sixth round pick (187)
      2. Rams trade fourth round pick (126) and TE Tyler Higbee
    42. Jacksonville Jaguars - TE Cole Kmet - Notre Dame: The Jaguars take the first tight end off the board for a potential, drawing similarities with fellow Notre Dame tight end Kyle Rudolph. He’s bulky, surprisingly swift and a pain to bring down when he has the ball.

    43. Los Angeles Chargers - DT Justin Madubuike - Texas A&M: The Chargers have informed their starting tackle Brandon Mebane that he will be released in free agency. Here, they grab his replacement.
      1. Bears trade second round pick (43) and 2021 third round pick (TBD)
      2. Chargers trade second round pick (37) and 2021 third round pick (TBD)
    44. Indianapolis Colts - OT Ben Bartch - St John: Whether or not Anthony Castonzo retires, they’re still going to have to look for someone to take his spot. Bartch proved his worth despite still a raw prospect and being from a small school.

    45. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - QB Jake Fromm - Georgia: Tampa Bay stays patient, taking a larger need in the first round and now gets its shot at the next tier of quarterbacks, picking the most talented one. Fromm is inaccurate when trying for a quick release or constantly under pressure, so for him to do good, he’s going to have to both learn and improve as well as the Buccaneers buying him as much time as possible.

    46. Denver Broncos - OG Matt Hennessy - Temple: Hennessy is less flexible than his peers in the draft class, but the Broncos don’t necessarily need that as a deal-breaker with his strong footwork and instincts. Will do well next to Garrett Bolles.

    47. Pittsburgh Steelers - CB Noah Igbenoghene - Auburn: The Steelers are one of the teams in a big need for cornerback. Joe Haden is doing well, but also getting older. Artie Burns has not lived up to his first round hype. It’s time to bring in fresh faces.
      1. Falcons trade second round pick (47)
      2. Steelers trade fourth round pick (124) and 2021 third round pick (TBD)
    48. New York Jets - DL Curtis Weaver - Boise State: The Jets bring in a swift moving missile of a defender to move alongside Quinnen Williams. Weaver has nifty moves to shed contact and move around even some of the faster blockers.

    49. Atlanta Falcons - OG Jonah Jackson - Ohio State: Falcons upgrade the other side of the trenches, bringing in another durable guard. Jackson does best in a zone scheme, something the Falcons run frequently.
      1. Steelers trade fourth round pick (124) and 2021 third round pick (TBD)
      2. Falcons trade second round pick (47)
    50. Chicago Bears - WR Brandon Aiyuk - Arizona State: If they Bears continue to commit to Mitchell Trubisky, they’ll need to give him more of a standout wide receiver than merely Allen Robinson, Anthony Miller and Cordarrelle Patterson. Aiyuk’s quick on his feet, but also has stretchy frame that excels in making difficult grabs.

    51. Dallas Cowboys - QB Jalen Hurts - Oklahoma: Here is assuming Dak Prescott declines the contract offer and runs off to someone overpaying. Hurts might have to be thrust into the starting role, but did exceptionally well after the departures of Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray. With the top offensive line in the league as well as an elite running back, its hopeful that Hurts can succeed where Prescott failed.

    52. Los Angeles Rams - S Ashtyn Davis - Cal: Davis solidifies the backfield alongside Taylor Rapp in a much needed move in a division that relies frequently on quick passes.

    53. Philadelphia Eagles - LB Malik Harrison - Ohio State: Harrison is among the best in the draft for run stopping, able to diagnose plays and tackle to keep his opponent from getting away. He struggles in coverage though.

    54. Buffalo Bills - CB AJ Terrell - Clemson: Terrell is perfect as a man coverage corner and would fit right into defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier’s scheme.

    55. Atlanta Falcons - RB Jonathan Taylor - Wisconsin: The Falcons move on from Devonta Freeman, but set up a similar foundation bringing in Taylor to be a one-two punch with Ito Smith. Taylor is the rougher one, shedding tackles and favoring strength over Smith’s speed and elusive bursts.

    56. Miami Dolphins - S Kyle Dugger - Lenior-Rhyne: Dugger’s a playmaker, still raw with decision making but fitting for another puzzle piece after the Dolphins released Reshad Jones.

    57. Houston Texans - DT Marlon Davidson - Auburn: Why not get another interior defensive lineman. The Texans may not get DJ Reader back and if he does end up walking, they’ve got someone to replace him right from the get go.

    58. Minnesota Vikings - OG Robert Hunt - Louisiana: A big mean guard who can manhandle defensive players and excellent for a run-heavy offense. No doubt if he goes here, then Dalvin Cook could rush for days.

    59. Las Vegas Raiders - CB Jaylon Johnson - Utah: You can never have too many cornerbacks and Johnson’s skills can pair well with Trayvon Mullen as he slides into the primary corner.
      1. Seahawks trade second round pick (59) and LB KJ Wright
      2. Raiders trade third round pick (84), fourth round pick (TBD) and 2021 fourth round pick (TBD)
    60. Baltimore Ravens - WR Donovan Peoples-Jones - Michigan: Peoples-Jones provides the bulk combined with the speed. Can you imagine the variety of targets Lamar Jackson would have with Peoples-Jones as a deep threat, speedy Hollywood Brown and tough Mark Andrews?

    61. Tennessee Titans - TE Adam Trautmann - Dayton: Delanie Walker is being released and Anthony Firkser’s one year extension covers them at an adequate position. Tennessee lacks a long term solution, so if they’re willing to take a risk on the unpolished Trautmann, it could potentially pay off.

    62. Green Bay Packers - DL Darrell Taylor - Tennessee: Taylor had a standout performance in an otherwise mediocre Vols program. He’s got versatility in switching defensive formations on the fly and would do much to help alleviate the pressure on Green Bay’s depleted D line.

    63. Kansas City Chiefs - RB Cam Akers - Florida State: Damien Williams is on the wrong side of an able running back age. The Chiefs should resist that urge to grab his replacement right away and instead take the talented Akers in the second round to add even more heat to the explosive Chiefs offense.

    64. Seattle Seahawks - OG Damien Lewis - LSU: Another part in fixing the Seahawks’ offensive line problems. Lewis put next to draftmate Lucas Niang will be soft at first, but quickly hardened to face the elite pass rushers of the NFC West.

    65. Cincinnati Bengals - LB Troy Dye - Oregon: A very responsive and reactive player. The Bengals lose out on trying to net an inside linebacker in free agency and get one here. Dye took over the Ducks as the onfield defensive coordinator and he’ll again act as the quarterback of the defense.

    66. Washington Redskins - S Jeremy Chinn - Southern Illinois: Chinn’s still a very raw prospect and he’s had issues in addressing plays. But if the Redskins are patient; Chinn can develop into a very good safety tandem that supplements and grows off Landon Collins.

    67. Detroit Lions - OT Prince Tega Wanogho - Auburn: With this pick, the Lions can move the starting tackle Tyrell Crosby into a guard position and put Tega Wanogho in to add some depth to the line aside from Frank Ragnow and Taylor Decker.

    68. New York Jets - TE Brycen Hopkins - Purdue: The Jets give Sam Darnold a new toy in a strong bulldozing tight end that can make plays, do damage in gaining yards post-catch that draws close comparisons to Saints’ Jared Cook.

    69. Carolina Panthers - CB Damon Arnette - Ohio State: Panthers are about to lose James Bradberry. With a depleted secondary and their original targets at safety already taken, they move to grab the best corner still available on the board. Arnette’s one of the taller backs and rangy enough to fit to shadow the enemy number one.

    70. Houston Texans - CB Troy Pride Jr - Mississippi State: The Texans add to their depleted secondary after failing to acquire Chris Harris from the Broncos. Pride joins a young cornerback group alongside Gareon Conley and led by Jonathan Joseph.
      1. Lions trade third round pick (70)
      2. Texans trade 2021 fourth round pick (TBD) and fifth round pick (171)
    71. Los Angeles Chargers - DT Ross Blacklock - TCU: Blacklock had an achilles injury, causing his stock to fall. However his presence is undeniable in the interior as long as his durability doesn’t falter.

    72. Arizona Cardinals - CB Bryce Hall - Virginia: With Patrick Peterson’s future obscure at best; the birds will have to begin developing a group of defensive backs in the event he departs. Bryce Hall is similar to last year’s rookie Byron Murphy and has tighter zone coverage with a bit of a step behind in man.

    73. Dallas Cowboys - OG Nick Harris - Washington: The Cowboys have to give up their second of next year, to get a talented but injury prone WR in Marqise Lee. Instead, they go towards the next man up on the totem pole to uphold the best offensive line in the league.
      1. Jaguars trade third round pick (73) and WR Marqise Lee
      2. Cowboys trade 2021 second round pick (TBD)
    74. Cleveland Browns - LB Jordan Brooks - Texas Tech: Brooks comes in for Joe Shobert. He’s fast, rangy, but doesn’t cover well. He’s much of a developmental prospect in that regard, but is a big asset in attacking who can rapidly close gaps and deny the offense big plays.

    75. San Francisco 49ers - CB Cameron Dantzler - Mississippi State: Prone to being exploited by bigger stronger wide receivers, Dantzler has excellent zone coverage skills which can be tempered and mentored by Richard Sherman.
      1. Colts trade second round pick (34), third round pick (75) and fifth round pick (160)
      2. 49ers trade first round pick (3) and fifth round pick (TBD)
    76. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - CB Darnay Holmes - UCLA: A reactive corner who plays well in almost all demanded of him except for tackling. Bruce Arians can certainly coach that into him.

    77. Denver Broncos - DL Julian Okwara - Notre Dame: It’s honestly a big surprise Okwara falls this far down in the draft and scooped up by Denver. Vic Fangio is a defensive minded coach and would love to bring him on blitz packages with Bradley Chubb and Von Miller.

    78. Green Bay Packers - LB Evan Weaver - Cal: Weaver could very well be called up after the Packers fill their other needs as someone to use in Blake Martinez’s position. He’s less of a dropback linebacker in zone pass schemes, but has good intellect in what could be an excellent three down linebacker.

    79. New York Jets - CB Essang Bassey - Wake Forest: Bassey’s another decent addition to the Jets secondary and might not be an immediate starter, but can step into the mold on occasion to aid Brian Poole and Jamal Adams.

    80. Las Vegas Raiders - DL Nick Coe - Auburn: Nick Coe will assist in bringing help to a weak Raiders pass rush that hasn’t been the same since Khalil Mack. Slide him right next to Maurice Hurst and Maxx Crosby and watch them wreck offensive lines.

    81. New England Patriots - WR Van Jefferson - Florida: Jefferson has insane route running ability comparable to Jerry Jeudy minus his athleticism on another level. Jefferson is a few years older than most other wide receivers, so his skillset will have to adapt quickly into the pro level, which the Patriots can offer.
      1. Raiders trade third round pick (80)
      2. Patriots trade third round pick (98)
    82. Dallas Cowboys - S Terrell Burgess - Utah: The Cowboys failed to land Earl Thomas and Jamal Adams over the last season, but in this draft they grab two players much younger who can fit the jobs those free agents were set to fulfill. Getting McKinney and Burgess will be done at a lower price as well.

    83. Denver Broncos - RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire - LSU: Though it remains to be seen what will happen to the Broncos backfield, it appears that Philip Lindsay is the most likely to stay while Devontae Booker and Royce Freeman exit. Edwards-Helaire doesn’t have the ability to be a starter from the beginning, but can act as a complimentary back to the established Lindsay.

    84. Los Angeles Rams - RB Eno Benjamin - Arizona State: Todd Gurley’s already gotten arthritis in his knee, a definite red flag being only 25 years of age. If he has to retire early, the Rams better find a game plan soon. Benjamin could be one of said candidates that the team can ease in until Gurley makes that career decision.

    85. Chicago Bears - TE Hunter Bryant - Washington: Trey Burton turned out to be a huge disappointment due to his inability to stay healthy. Chicago can cut ties with him and go with the athletic Bryant who can do it all from blocking to contested catches to his exploits in mismatches downfield. A sure-catching target for Trubisky.
      1. Eagles trade third round pick (85)
      2. Bears trade fourth round pick (TBD)
    86. Buffalo Bills - OG Netane Muti - Fresno: It was the right move to re-sign guard Quinton Spain and drafting Muti can put him into the spot of either one should they go down with an injury. Once one of their contracts is up, they can walk and Muti slides into the starting role.

    87. New England Patriots - TE Thaddeus Moss - LSU: Almost a match made in heaven. Bill Belichick coached his father Randy in the league record for single season touchdowns. He’s bulkier and not as agile as his father, but he has the tools and possibly the quarterback who played with his father to help him develop into the next Travis Kelce or Rob Gronkowski.

    88. New Orleans Saints - QB Jacob Eason - Washington: And here it is. New Orleans finally picks a quarterback to take the helm once Drew Brees retires. Eason is among the most undeveloped of all the quarterbacks taken in the first three rounds. He has a habit of jumping the gun early at times, but has great pocket awareness and probably the best characteristics among the prospects to fit the footballl Brees played.

    89. Minnesota Vikings - DL Jonathan Greenard - Florida: Assuming defensive lineman Everson Griffen doesn’t return, the Vikings will want to keep dividing the pass protection off doubling Danielle Hunter. Greenard has certainly done that while in Florida.

    90. Houston Texans - CB Harrison Hand - Temple: Houston adds another cornerback to their arsenal. Hand can’t transition as well as some other players, but he does have the right mindset to start as a nickel.

    91. Las Vegas Raiders - CB LaVert Hill - Michigan: The Raiders add more corners to their young backfield group. Hill can be a future starter that might take a while to develop.

    92. Baltimore Ravens - DT Larell Murchison - NC State: Murchison gets drafted to supplement the interior of the defensive line. He has a good ability to break offensive line formations, but often has to rely on linebacker help to stop runners from shooting the gaps.

    93. Pittsburgh Steelers - WR Collin Johnson - Texas: Davis has incredibly crisp movements and a light nimble frame despite his six foot plus size. He can be a much more versatile slant or vertical change player in compliment to Juju Smith-Schuster.
      1. Titans trade third round pick (93)
      2. Steelers trade 2021 fifth round (TBD) and third round pick (102)
    94. Green Bay Packers - OT Saadiq Charles - LSU: Charles fits the ideal spot for Bryan Bulaga if the two sides can’t come to a longer term agreement.

    95. New York Giants - WR Chase Claypool - Notre Dame: The Giants are in a big need of finding another wide receiver to star opposite Golden Tate. Claypool may not be OBJ caliber of talent right off the bat, but he’s definitely similar.
      1. Broncos trade third round pick (95)
      2. Giants trade third round pick (99) and 2021 fifth round pick (TBD)
    96. Kansas City Chiefs - WR Antonio Gandy-Golden: Similar to the Giants; the Chiefs may be left in a wideout predicament due to Sammy Watkins mulling retirement and also a free agent. Gandy-Golden is quick and can shake off corners, providing another stalwart option for Patrick Mahomes on the other side of Tyreek Hill.
And that will do it! I'll address the draft again when it's closer to the actual time and then cover it through the first round. Once it's over, I'll give my own thoughts on all 32 teams' draft classes to see how they did overall.
