I wanted to see if it was possible and low and behold: it actually is. If anyone's interested, the run wasn't honestly that difficult. Misty and Lt. Surge would be tough, but you can just skip them until you're way further into the game, which is nice. The only trainers who actually caused me trouble were the Elite Four. Thankfully I've watched enough speedruns to realize that the X items (X Attack, X Defend etc.) actually do have a use, so I stocked up big time before taking them on. Honestly, it probably came down to equal parts skill and luck, but what matters is that I succeeded. yeet. Was this a waste of my time? Yeah. Did I enjoy it? Mildly. Would I do this again for every other Pokémon? Probably not, but let me know who to try this with next.
1. I played it on emulator, so I just edited one of the starters to be a Surskit 2. I'm so bored please send help 3. YEEEEEEET it shall be done
I'm impressed! I've always wanted to do a run like that. I second the Poliwag too. Maybe for another run you should choose Ditto. That might be interesting
Poliwag is coming along fine, I'll probably finish that today. For Smeargle and Ditto I'll probably make a more in-depth thread on my strategy throughout the game. They should provide an interesting playthrough, so I can't wait!
