Feeling that Kirito's words were really stabbing at Evergreen, she shot Kirito an annoyed look. She remembered how she always watched over Kirito in her previous adventure, and now Kirito was making a joke out of it. She crossed her arms and puffed her cheeks.

 

Kirito's remark made Evergreen blush, so she looked the other way. Meanwhile, the young boy replied, "We'll head home for sure. Thanks!" There was a patrol of two archers and a mage who happened to be nearby, so the children went to them and then were escorted home.

Evergreen looked at the teenagers who had seemingly disappeared. Just who were they?

 

Evergreen looked around. "The city is nice enough and its people seem happy. But something still doesn't sit right with me, about those boys."

 

Evergreen noticed the kind of evil aura she felt before from the dark mage. "And I better keep an eye on you just in case something bad happens..." she thought to herself.

She and Kirito continued walking together around the garden.

 

(I know right? I miss her already)

Evergreen did feel a bit of jealousy at hearing Kiseki's name, but that feeling went away when she realised she missed her, and Chieri. When was the last time she had seen them? It had been a while. "Would Kiseki like minerals? We should check this stuff out."

The minerals ranged from cheaper minerals like bronze and iron to more expensive things like silver. There was even a little bit of Orichalcum for sale too, like the one used in Maria's katana, but it was horribly expensive.

 

(I hope so too. It's been a long while)

Evergreen blushed, seeing that Kirito noticed her reaction. "Ah... I'm okay," she replied. "I'm not sick or angry or anything..." She quickly joined Kirito and looked at the minerals. Aside from metals, there were also crystals and glass too.

 

"Wh-what?" Evergreen said, not really understanding what was going on. But she stopped short at seeing the bracelet on her wrist. "Oh... That looks nice," she said, blushing a little at Kirito's touch.

 

Evergreen looked at the bracelet closely at her wrist and admired its looks. It would make a nice gift, she thought. But to hide her blushing, she looked the other way.

"That will cost a mere five gold pieces," the keeper said. "It's pretty, eh? And it looks good on her. But let me tell you, Olivia in Koniko Town is rumoured to have the most valuable jewelry in the world. It's just that hers is much more expensive."

 

"Not really, no. We have a crystal mine not too far from this city. This kind of crystal is among the most common," the keeper explained.

"Kirito!" Evergreen scolded. "That's not very nice."

"Your companion is adorable too," the keeper added, speaking to Kirito.

 

The keeper looked carefully at Kirito, and then took the gold. "I'll cut you a deal then, seeing that it looks so pretty on your friend there." At that Evergreen smiled widely. "I'm sure you can get her much prettier things."

"Aw, thank you," Evergreen said.
