It's pretty much just a round, puffy chip, isn't it? They taste about the same and are the same as chips in every way except the shape.
Oh my goodness Cad is at it again. Anyone wanna bet that her next rant is going to be about whether Tootsie Rolls are considered chocolate? WHY DO WE HAVE TO YELL LIKE THIS?!!! I consider Cheetos chips, but I actually prefer Hawkins' cheezies. They taste wayyy better
Well, are they? I mean I don't think so, but why not? Hotdogs, French Fries and Cheetos are being debated. It honestly makes slightly more sense to call Tootsie Rolls Chocolate than to call Cheetos chips.
Sorry @Cadbberry but I don't think Cheetos are chips. Like what has been stated earlier, being in the chip aisle doesn't mean they're chips. I find that chips have a similar shape to each other, and as much as I love Cheetos, they aren't chips. Wait... what are Cheetos made of anyways?!
Right after this post, about an hour later, Cadbberry posted this, without denying my claim. I rest my case.
Breaks out Google Chip (noun): a thin slice of food made crisp by being fried, baked, or dried and typically eaten as a snack. (Google) Chip: a small thin slice of food. (Merriam Webster) Chip: a very thin slice or small piece of food. (dictionary.com) Tell me where the word potato appears even once. Now let's look over our checklist, shall we? Crisp? Check. Small/thin slice of food? Check. Eaten as a snack? Check. Cheetos are chips according to these facts. If you wanna fight then look up some definitions for yourself.
Thank you, technically there are a lot of different kinds of chips and it can include chips that are not in need not potato but things that are not flat it's just fried corn stuff
I would debate this. Cheetos are indeed crisp, and a snack, in fact theyare also small/thin. But they are not 'slices.' Just to prove my point, the definitions of slice: (P.S.- the contradictions are bolded) Slice, according to Google: a thin, broad piece of food, such as bread, meat, or cake, cut from a larger portion. Slice, according to Merriam Webster: 1 : a thin flat piece cut from something 2 : a wedge-shaped piece (as of pie or cake) Slice, according to dictionary.com: 1. a thin, flat piece cut from something 2. a part, portion, or share As you can see, Cheetos are NOT chips, because they are not slices. Thin? Check. Part or portion cut from something? NOT Check Flat or wedge-shaped? NOT Check. Thank You.
Are you guys still debating whether or not a cheeto is a chip? It is not according to the definition, but who cares, they taste good.
It is important to me that we determine this as a chip ;; There are many a chip types and why shouldn't this one be accounted? For its shape?
Exactly. Also the fact that it is puffy as opposed to flat like literally every chip in existence, and that it does not qualify by definition. I have debunked enough of the evidence you have sent to this thread that it should easily be disproved as a chip. The votes are at a tie. There is little left to discuss. No offense or anything, but it does not really matter to me if you lose an argument because people are willing to acknowledge facts. Is it really that hard to admit you were wrong?
Was about to say, pretzels are on the same aisle, I definitely don't consider those chips. I consider Cheetos on the same level as other puffy snacks, like Poppables. Or popcorn.
Ouch, that stung a little lol And nah, its not hard to admit, I just really think chips shouldn't be determined by the shape, though definition does state such I guess.
I wouldn't consider them chips, even though they are made with similar ingredients that make up things like Fritos (a type of chip) Cheetos are listed as a puffed snack food... not a chip?
