The man smiled under his cloak and removed his hood. As it so happened, this 'stranger' was James. He looked at Coraline and said, "Aren't you just as adorable as ever?"
James nodded and said, "I was thinking I could help you out with this case. As of now, it's been supposedly confirmed that Lila was the only witness to your mother's murder. However, that isn't true at all. I know that you saw the real killer because I was also there. Unfortunately, I didn't see the killer's face. It was hard to make out that night, but I could at least tell for a split second that the culprit was a woman."
James nodded and replied, “Yeah, but don’t let anyone know I gave you this info. After what I did in the past, I don’t think anyone else would trust my words, well, none except that partner of yours.”
James took a deep breath and replied, "That's something you're better off not knowing," before paying for their meal and getting up, "Anyway, never forget that there's no shame in seeking out help from others. You and that boyfriend of yours, you're lucky to have one-another," and thus he stole into the night before Coraline even had a chance to say anything.
With all said and done, Neil was busy looking over the details of the case and thinking, 'Oh god, there's nothing here that can help us.'
Neil let out a sigh and said, "I don't care what Raven says. Even if I got nothing to go on, I'm sure we can figure something out. We always do."
Coraline nodded and looked out the window and was curious about what James did that got him shunned by her family.
Soon enough, the next day came as it was time for the trial. Neil gulped nervously before noticing Raven in the hallway with a few officers by her side. The man sighed and walked over to her, saying, "Hey, Lila," the goth turning to him and sighing, "Let me guess, you didn't find anything, did you?" Hades scowling at Neil as he laughed nervously and uttered, "Well, yeah, this is kind of a hard one, but rest assured, I'm certain we can do this." Raven sighed, "I hope you can. After all, it's not as if today's prosecutor could be anywhere near as bad as I usually am, right?"
