Group RP Team Might - Deep Dark Mystery

All had seemed normal that day near the mines. Workers going in and out with trusty Conkeldurrs and Durants by their sides, a few wild Roggenrolas minding their own business as they went around their protected section of the cave, a new worker even bringing their Rolycoly along to help out. The sun beat down bright and hard, and the temperature stayed at a steady high - until it started increasing. It only took a few seconds for the disaster to show up, the screams of the workers piercing the air and ringing throughout as they scrambled for their lives, away from the flames that had sprouted up. Where the entrance to the mines had been, a steady wall of flames surrounded, a cycloptic chained door standing in between as the flames surrounding its body began to die down, leaving only dark flares dancing about its silhouette.

 

What a time to visit Unova.

Horatio had just been looking for a change of pace. He'd talked his way onto the first boat leaving the Sinnoh region, not knowing or caring where it took him. It wasn't until the ship had set sail did Horatio overhear where they were going. He didn't mind visiting Unova for a bit, but then he began to hear panicked rumors. Something about a mine. Nobody seemed to have any idea just what had happened, let alone why.

By the time they docked in Unova, Horatio had heard enough vague rumors for his curiosity to be piqued. He'd come here looking for a change, and there was nothing more different than a strange mine that may or may not have exploded for no reason.

"Come on, bud," Horatio grabbed Croagunk's arm and hoisted him up onto his shoulders. "Let's go see what's going on,"

 

“Wow, Unova sure is different from Alola, huh?” Chris said to her companions Ribombee and Butterfree. “Alola has a lot more nature than here in the city...” she trailed off, noticing the ensuing horror. Butterfree looked over her shoulder in concern, and Ribombee buzzed with panic. “WAHH- what is that?” she exclaimed, noticing the smoke coming from the mines. Let’s get a closer look,” she told her partners, who attempted to blow some of it away with Butterfree’s Gust attack and Ribombee’s Fairy Wind attack.

 

Emma was walking a lone path while looking for more Pokémon to join her in the fight the elite four. She looks off into the sky to see the black smog flying out of the mouth of a mountain. She examines it before thinking 'There's a fire there isn't there?' Picking up her speed into a dash. Keeping her back low and her arms forward she makes a dash for the mountains.

 

As the smoke from the quick clash cleared thanks to the two bugs' wind, the whole scene became visible to any Trainer who dared go near. The smoke had attracted quite a few passersby. One particular girl in a pale yellow jacket and jeans worriedly looked over the scene, staying around after a few others had left.
Now well destroyed by the firefighters' Pokémon, the remnants of the door lay on the ground, bits of fake fire - as well as ash caused by very real fire - lay scattered around. Planks, metal, and an awful lot of plastic lay across the arena as they came to investigate. The entrance seemed to be clear, with most of the visible miners having escaped, only a few still being escorted out by any more rescue Pokémon. By the expressions on their faces and the chatter amongst them, it seemed that they had been quite shaken... but not just by the strange door that had showed up.

 

Theon had confusion written all over his face upon seeing a number of other individuals by the mine. While the boy knew that the smoke was big and definitely covered a wide area, it surprised him that there were more people than he had previously expected - most would just steer clear of the area, but he figured that just like him, curiosity got the best of everyone else.

After briefly observing the other Trainers, Theon immediately turned his attention to the mines and its workers. While it was not his intention to eavesdrop, he caught hold of a few words, such as “something,” “ran away,” and “fear.” The door appeared to be just one of the many misfortunes this mine had just faced, and the poor miners were still in shock.

Eric was just waking up right next to his Charizard when Charizard perked its head up toward a smoke pillar then it started roaring.
"What is the matter?" Eric said before he noticed the smoke pillar. He sighs and said, "Well breakfast will be cut short today." He gets out some beef jerky and hands it to Charizard and he brings Lanturn out of its Pokéball and feeds him. The team did not take long to eat. Eric put Lanturn back in its Pokéball and got on Charizard's back then they started to fly towards the smoke pillar.

 

“We have to go tell the professor!” Chris exclaimed, pulling out her Unova town map. “Let’s see, they said Professor Juniper was in Nuvema Town, which iiiiiiiiiiis...” her eyes darted across the map. “Right here!” Her finger poked the dot indicating the town. “Let’s go, you guys!” she called out to her bug friends.

 

By the time Horatio got to the mines, the nearby towns were starting to be evacuated. Because of how many panicked people there were, it was only too easy for Horatio to slip past the crowd. He made his way closer to the mines. Despite the evacuations, there were still some people around, probably mine workers, local authorities, and a few others who were probably like Horatio, trainers who were too curious for their own good.

"Well, we've come this far," Horatio adjusted his grip on Croagunk and straightened his clothes as much as he could. In Horatio's experience, if you acted like you belonged somewhere, the average person wouldn't question you. Standing tall and holding his head high, keeping a neutral expression on his face, Horatio walked closer to the mines.

 

Iridia had been debating on whether to stay or leave. That had been when the person with the Croagunk showed up besides them, starting towards the mines. Judging by what he had just said, he probably had... some... expertise on this sort of thing? Trying not to get caught, she started after him. On the off chance that he was just some regular Trainer, it would probably be best that he didn't get stuck in there alone, after all.

After a few minutes of flying, Eric realized that the smoke was coming from the other side of a city so he decided to proceed directly to Nuvema Town where the professor in this region was supposed to be. Luckily he had already been here a day or two so he was kinda familiar with the area around him. Once he saw the Professor's Lab he circled the town to reduce altitude and landed. Charizard let a fierce roar, Eric kinda embarrassed said to Charizard "Calm down boy, we don't want to wake the dead here."

 

Aaron had had a positive start to his day. Living in Mistralton City was fun and he liked it but as of late, he'd been feeling demotivated and would spend a lot of his time indoors relaxing. Nothing was wrong but he didn't have many friends in the city as most of them had left to explore Unova and travel to other regions. He remembered his best friend Tsubasa Kadoya who had long left Unova and was probably traveling the world. "What a lucky guy," Aaron thought to himself.

As he flipped the channels on his TV, he couldn't help but think what it would be like to be a real-life trainer who traveled far and wide, meeting new Pokémon and making new friends. He wanted life's experiences and grew excited thinking about all he could do. He enjoyed his nice little home but deep down, knew there was more in store for him. Suddenly, something on the TV caught his eye. It was a news report saying that one of Unova's biggest coal mines was not looking good. There were fires that were threatening the area and it wasn't looking good. The newscaster himself wasn't sure what was wrong with the mines and some were speculating an unworldly attack.

Aaron wasn't sure what was happening either but knew he wanted to help. "I grew up around mines and caves," he thought to himself. "That's where I met Barkley," he said as he looked at his lovable Axew. At once Aaron made up his mind. He was going to travel to Nuvema Town and offer his help to Professor Juniper who had to be interested in the latest drama unfolding. Deep down, this was the adventure Aaron was longing for and he knew he could be of help and so, he decided to pack his bag and grab an old dusty map that lay in his room, a gift from his father, and leave a note to his family. "Dear everyone, I am headed to Nuvema Town to meet Professor Juniper and see if I can help with the fires that are on the news. I want to experience the real world and I think this may be the best way to do it. I know you may be worried but I'll be okay. Take care. - Aaron." The letter was sweet and short, just the way he liked.

With that, he left his house and took off running with his Axew by his side (because who doesn't like to break a sweat) and began his journey to Nuvema Town, and by extension the rest of his life.

 

Getting into the mines themselves was easier than Horatio had thought it would be. Nobody tried to stop him. He wondered if anybody even noticed him stepping past the rubble and smoldering ashes. The police and other authorities and mine workers too busy interrogating each other about what had happened and what was to be done about it.

Horatio couldn't see anything out of the ordinary in the entrance to the mines. He would probably have to go deeper to find anything that was really important. Horatio took Croagunk off his shoulders and set him on the ground. If there was trouble nearby, his partner would be able to sense it. More than ready to see just what was going on in this place, Horatio began to walk further into the mines. Before he had even made it five steps Croagunk tensed and Horatio could hear something, or someone, behind him.

"Hello?" Horatio turned back towards the entrance of the mines. "I didn't think anybody else was brave or stupid enough to come in here."

 

Sliding to a stop Emma looks up from the foot of the mountain. She pants for air before looking around to see if there's a set of stairs or a ramp . She finds a pair of stairs nearby and rushes up them attempting to get close to the flames to admire them. Skipping two stairs at a time she reaches the mouth of the cave. She had trouble seeing if there were fire in the mountain from all the smog

 

"A-ah!" Iridia froze up at someone addressing her, stepping out from behind a small stalgmite. "Uh... hi - no, what are you doing here anyway? You aren't supposed to be in here either, are you?" She mentally slapped herself moments later - of COURSE he was. Stupid!
