The foliage on the jungle floor was more of an annoyance than a hindrance as the expedition team made their way north. A few minutes into the hike, Ethan approached Isaac and Vincent with a strange-looking helmet.

"Oh no," Isaac grumbled as he realized what it was. It had some mud and grime on it, but the design was unmistakable. That helmet belonged to a fairly high-ranking member of Team Moongeist. "Looks like you were right, Vincent. If that came from somewhere ahead of us, we're in trouble." After letting Vincent take a look at it, Isaac handed the helmet back to Ethan. "Hang on to this, we may end up needing it later."

Isaac redoubled his pace as worry filled his head. If we lose this chance, he thought, the boss will have my - our - heads for sure. He was only shaken from his thoughts when he head a soft click. Before he could react, the ground gave way beneath him and the rest of the team, sending them tumbling into a pit. He landed roughly, scraping up his leg and arm, but he was otherwise intact.

Isaac regained his bearings and checked on the team before assessing the situation. Claustrophobia began to creep in as he looked around. The pit looked to be roughly square - 15 feet deep, wide, and long - with sheer walls. Okay, breathe, think, Isaac mentally recited. How can we-

You fell, a familiar voice whispered in his head. Looking up, Isaac noticed Brainiac standing over the lip of the pit. He hadn't recalled his Beheeyem before leaving, who hadn't fallen because he floated above the ground.

"Don't just sit there looking smug, help me up!" Isaac yelled up to Brainiac. He felt himself become weightless as Psychic seized him and slowly lifted him out of the pit. "That's twice today you've saved my skin," Isaac sighed with relief. "Help the others out while I secure a rope to this tree." Once tied, he threw the other end into the pit to let the other team members climb up.

Once Isaac and Vincent took a look at the helmet, he was once again handed the helmet. Following his orders, Ethan quickly stores the helmet in his backpack, making sure to not damage it. Once that was all said and done, he recalled his Pokémon, and followed the path like everyone else. By the looks of things, it seemed like they were increasing their pace.

Looks like the appearance of Moongeist is making Isaac uneasy. He thought to himself. Without much warning, the ground beneath him gave way. Unable to grab onto the wall to stop himself from falling, he tried to cover his head to prevent any serious injuries. He made to the bottom with a few scratches all over his body, but he was fine nonetheless. But before he could even get up, he was immediately assaulted by the weight of others landing on top of him. Once it was all over, he managed to get his companions off of him, and stood up. His back felt a little bruised, but he would manage.

He decided that the first thing he should do, was search for anyone who was badly injured. After checking in with a few injured grunts, he found out that no one was injured to the point of not being able to move. Now the only thing left to do was to think of a way out. But before Ethan could think up of a way out, he saw a rope being thrown into the pit they were now in. Watching as some of his teammates were scrambling to use the rope to climb out, he decided to wait his turn to use the escape rope. Once he was out, he decided to clean himself up from all the dirt he had accumulated from the fall.

Seeing as Isaac was most likely the first person to get out with his Pokémon, he decided to report on the few injured grunts, and how there were no serious injuries. While reporting, a sudden question came to his head. "Do you think this trap was probably set up by Moongeist?" He asked the scientist.

Izzy unfurled from around her precious Nux, having protected him from the worse of the fall by keeping him bundled up against her chest.
"Whew that was close..." she got up and stretched her soar back. "What a day, heh?" she walked up to her fellow grunts waiting in queue for the one rope out.

"Man this is going to take a bit, no time to go one at a time, plus I wouldn't want innocent 'mon getting stuck down here." she mumbles to herself and looks around for a cleared wall of earth for her idea. Walking over she casually tossed a dusk ball up and released a large, scarred up Krookodile.
"Alright Sheila my dear, lets set up a ramp out of this mess, use Dig!"

With a proud roar the crocodilian Pokémon got to work and carved out a ramp a few feet wide on a steady incline through the soil.

"Great work Sheila!" Izzy shouted up at her friend. Relieving some of the queue's wait time, a few grunts joined her up the ramp and back onto level ground.

Most of the team was out now and started to move forward again, albeit more carefully.

Thanks to Ethan's Pidgeotto, they now knew who they were up against. If it found the helmet, but no Moongeist members, that meant that they were a fair distance ahead. There was no time to waste. Vincent kept a close eye on the jungle around them. He had a feeling that someone from Moongeist would try to ambush them.

Vincent was not anticipating what happened next. The rest of Sunsteel, suddenly plummeted into a hole that had been dug into the ground. Tesla, still on Vincent's back, let out a startled hiss. He tried his hardest to carry his trainer once he'd realized what was going on, but Vincent quickly fell, his weight too much for the Vikavolt to hold. He landed on his back, thankfully not on top of the venomous stinger he had in his pocket.

Thankfully, Isaac was able to get out with the help of his Beheeyem, and dropped a rope down for them to climb up. Vincent was the first to climb up, though he did help pull the grunts out afterward. One of them, Ethan, suspected Moongeist was behind this, and Vincent had to agree that the rival team was the most likely culprit. "We're quite a distance from the ruins. My theory is that most of their group headed for the shrine, while a few stayed behind to try to slow us down."

Looking back, Vincent could very faintly see a thin wire stretched along the length of the pit. That must have been what triggered it. It went without saying that he wouldn't fall for the same trick twice. "Tesla, fly ahead of us, as close to the ground as you can." If there were any more tripwires ahead, Tesla would end up triggering them before the group was over the pit. As long as they all stayed a fair distance behind him, they would be fine.

Isaac agreed with Vincent's theory. "This pit looks almost freshly dug,, too" he said, noting the smoothness of the dirt walls. "We're bound to run into those Moongeists eventually." He found himself looking forward to that encounter.

With Vincent's Vikavolt scouting the path ahead for more traps, Isaac felt safer in continuing on. Two close encounters was enough for one day. "Why would Team Moongeist be after the Sun Flute?" he wondered aloud. "It couldn't be to simply deny us from summoning Solgaleo, there must be some greater motivation behind this..."

    "Excuse me...WHAT?!"
Wemberly shouted in the dark hole, after wiping grime and tears of frustration from her face. "We just got started and we are already getting pushed around by an invisible force." The grunt grumbled while she watched her teammates either dig, climb, or be lifted from the hole. With either a ramp or a rope to choose from, she picked the ramp for ease, and the rope for leverage. Once out of the hole, she untied the rope, walking around to find the owner so she could return it.
"We weren't even in the temple. This is ridiculous."

She continued her march behind the party, going much slower and watching to see what happened ahead.
