    So recently I started playing X-Com 2 and I've been enjoying myself, but I thought "Why not make it better?" How you ask? By using users from LV as my soldiers, if you want to be a soldier post in this thread and I'll name and create a soldier after you. I'll naturally keep this thread updated based on how the game progresses, every mission will have a new update where I will discuss my strategy for the mission and the result...

    Oh, and the losses. Expect a lot of the soldiers to fall in battle.

    Right now we currently have the maximum number of troops, but Morgaine and Ridlins will be the next batch in as soon as we have casualties or space.

    Mission 1: Operation Earthly Misery

    Objective: Protect the device

    Squad: Squaddie 14, Rookie Junkrat, Squaddie Tepig, Squaddie Alice.

    Role and Gear:
    Squaddie 14 is the frontline and heavy assault of the squad, his purpose is to breach buildings and provide heavy fire upon targets. To do this he carries a Cannon, a Grenade Launcher, a Frag Grenade and a Flash Grenade.

    Rookie Junkrat is the main fire support of the team, he will eliminate key targets and follow through with breaches of buildings set up by Squaddie 14. He carries an Assault Rifle, a Handgun and a Frag Grenade.

    Squaddie Tepig is the sharpshooter and overwatch for the squad. He will take up a vantage point and pick off any enemy out of position with his sniper. To do this he carries a sniper rifle, a handgun and a frag grenade.

    Squaddie Alice is the ranger of the team, with her close quarters style she will flank enemies and eliminate any stragglers. To do this she uses a Shotgun as her primary and a sword in her secondary slot, with a flash grenade in place of a frag.

    Mission Report:

    Within a minute on landing on the ground, the squad encountered the enemy. Two enemy operatives stood in the way of the squad and the device. With the squad having the advantage of being concealed they set up vantage positions for an ambush. Unfortunately Squaddie Tepig was discovered when setting up his vantage point on the roof causing the team to respond quickly and losing the element of surprise.

    Within the first shots, Squaddie 14 took down his target providing Squaddie Alice the chance to focus on the second target. She, riskily, rushed the target and took it down with her sword in a clean swipe. Meanwhile Rookie Junkrat continued his approach on the objective as planned. Two enemies hid out in the target building, but Squaddie 14 quickly took care of that issue with a grenade shot, destroying the cover and killing one of the targets, Squaddie Tepig quickly following up with a sniper shot on the second. The target survived, but was gravely injured giving Squaddie Alice the opportunity to get closer to the building. Rookie Junkrat was in position to finish the job on the injured target.

    The Squad was then able to approach the building safely, Squaddie Alice initiating the breach. During the breach two more enemies revealed themselves, Squaddie Tepig reacting quickly and firing a shot at one hostile, missing but putting it into cover. Reacting quickly, Squaddie Alice set up an ambush point while Rookie Junkrat took out one of the hostiles, but that hostile was revived via Alien power. But the Alien put itself out of position to do so, allowing Squaddie 14 to hit it with a flashbang. The disorientation caused was able to break the link between the alien and the revived hostile, causing the hostile to return to its grave. Reacting quickly Squaddies Tepig and Alice took down the Alien with a sniper shot and a sword rush.

    The device was successfully protected with zero casualties.

    Enemies Killed: 7

    Soldiers Wounded: 0
    Soldiers Deceased: 0

    Mission Rating: Flawless.

    Post-Mission Statistics:

    100% shot percentage

    Sq. Alice moved furthest and did the most damage

    Sq. 14 provided the most fire

    Sq. Tepig was under fire the most.

    Promotions:

    Rookie Junkrat promoted to Squaddie. Provided Specialist Role.

    Squaddie Alice promoted to Corporal. Provided Phantom ability.

    Ah, I remember playing X-Com Enemy Unknown. No one could hit the broad side of a barn and I threatened to kill some of my own men cause they don't know how to shoot. Besides that, I had a good time, so whenever there is an opening, sign me up. I'll have a glorious ending at least.

    Alright folks, we have a priority mission!

    First though, I'm going to do a catch up on what progress has been made back at best. We have created a Guerrilla Combat School which will eventually allow us to add a fifth member to each squad, for the meantime though it is being used to teach Rk. Princess Shimada the ways of the sharpshooter.

    Furthermore we have researched Nanoscale Vests which will provide the troops with superior armour. Finally we have reached West and East Africa, entering a new battle frontier.

    Mission 2: Operation Dawn Hole

    Objective: Extract VIP from ADVENT City

    Squad: Sq. 14, Sq. Junkrat, Rk. Hraesvelgr, Cpl. Alice.

    Sq. Tepig has been replace by Rk. Hraesvelgr for this mission as it will be a fast paced mission that will not benefit the sharpshooter and it will provide Rk. Hraesvelgr experience.

    Role and Gear:
    Sq. 14's role and gear remain the same, with the addition that he will be the main source of fire support. Providing cover for the VIP extraction.

    Sq. Junkrat will support the Cpl in extracting the VIP, the gear remains the same.

    Rk. Hraesvelgr will assist Sq. 14's fire support, taking out priority targets and protecting the grenadier from hostiles.

    Cpl. Alice will be the main extractor for the VIP, her rushing style will help breach the building and get the hostage out with minimum casualties.

    The game plan for this mission is to hit fast, hit hard and get out.

    Mission Report:

    The team successfully retrieved the VIP, but ADVENT discovered their location leading to a race against time to get to EVAC. The team set up defensive positions around the VIP with Cpl. Alice using the buildings around them to sneak through, locating the enemy as she did so. It was decided the VIP was safest going through the buildings with Cpl. Alice and Sq. Junkrat, meanwhile Sq. 14 and Rk. Hraesvelgr would provide a distraction so that the their two teammates can flank.

    The first shots of the engagement were fired by Squaddies Junkrat and 14, before dealing heavy damage to one of the hostiles. This gave Sq. 14 the chance to get closer and fire a grenade into the hostiles, destroying their cover and dealing damage meanwhile Rk. Hraesvelgr fulfilled his role by providing covering fire and taking out one of the biggest threats towards the VIP.

    The VIP took cover behind a bar while the team finished off the hostiles, with Cpl. Alice rushing the last hostile with her sword and finishing it off.

    At this point the team had 10 minutes to reach extraction while still battling and avoiding hostiles with unknown locations. The team was able to move towards the opposite car park with safety, but as soon as Sq. 14 took cover within the car park itself it was revealed that the hostiles had flanked from the right, leaving Sq. 14 exposed. Reacting quickly Sq. Junkrat provided his drone as support to the VIP and moved into position to cover 14. Rk. Hraesvelgr opened fire on the hostiles as soon as they exited their cover, his shots missed but it forced the enemy back to their locations, protecting 14 until he could move.

    8 minutes remaining.

    14 ran to cover, but enemy overwatch opened fire and 14 was hit, he was injured but still alive. Then the enemy initiated another flank. 14 was able to respond quickly though with a flash bang that disoriented the opposing forces providing time for Cpl. Alice to approach and fire, missing but destroying some of their cover. The VIP was still unharmed.

    The enemy then launched a counter attack that unfortunately resulted in the death of Squaddie Junkrat. Rk. Hraesvelgr, in an act of panic, left cover and opened fire. All his shots missed. Cpl. Alice also missed her shots, but Sq. 14 was able to move cover, avoiding enemy overwatch, and responding quickly able to kill the hostile that took the life of Squaddie Junkrat.

    6 minutes remaining.

    Rk. Hraesvelgr took heavy damage in the run between covers, but Sq. 14 was able to take down another hostile, providing Cpl. Alice enough safety to do a risky rush towards the enemy commander. She did damage, but did not kill the commander. The VIP is still unharmed. Enemy command revived a hostile.

    Rk. Hraesvelgr was able to take out the last hostile from the left, leaving only the two in the way of the EVAC zone. Cpl. Alice performed another rush on the hostile commander and killed him, taking out the Psi Zombie as well. The path is now clear for the team to EVAC.

    The first to EVAC was Sq. 14, heavily injured and was at too much risk in the open space of the EVAC zone. Cpl. Alice provided cover for the VIP and Rk. to reach the EVAC zone. With 4 minutes remaining the VIP has been secured. All that remains is the Cpl. and Rk.

    With 3 minutes remaining, the final of our troops evacuated the city.

    Enemies Killed: 7

    Soldiers Wounded: 2
    Soldiers Deceased: 1

    Rating:
    Good

    Post-Mission Statistics:

    55% shot accuracy.

    Cpl. Alice dealt the most damage to the enemy fores.

    Sq. 14 provided the most fire on the enemy forces and was under fire the most, served his role well.

    Promotions:

    Squaddie Astra promoted to Corporal. Granted Shedder perk.

    Rookie Hraesvelgr promoted to Squaddie. Provided Specialist role.

    So quick catch up, a new troop was found during a routine scan of West Africa, introducing Squaddie Morgaine Nine. Our squads second ranger!


    That's about it, oh and Princess finished his training making him our second Sharpshooter.

    Mission 3: Operation Blind Mist

    Objective:
    Stop the ADVENT's assault on a Resistance Haven.

    Squad: Sq. Princess, Sq. Morgaine, Rk. Nic, Cpl. Alice.

    Roles and Gear:

    Sq. Princess will be providing sniper support for the team as they move through the fire zone. Carries a Sniper Rifle, a HandGun and a Frag Grenade.

    Sq. Morgaine, along with Rk. Nic, will be the main focus on the hostile ADVENT forces, they will provide heavy fire on them and push through the zone. They both carry Assasult Rifles and Frag Grenades, with Sq. Morgaine using a sword and Rk, Nic using a handgun.

    Cpl. Alice will resume her role as the flanker of the team, taking down key enemies to provide her squad some relief.

    Mission Report:

    On landing the team spread out, quickly locating a civilian trapped inside a building. Before they were able to respond two hostiles revealed themselves, one close quarter and one ranged. Despite the rest of the Squad being revealed, Cpl. Alice was able to remain hidden and begin to make her approach on the civilian. This was decided to be the most important part of the mission, extract the civilians first then deal with hostiles.

    Sq. Morgaine acted quickly opening fire on the hostiles and gaining their attention. Even now the ADVENT's attack on civilians could be heard.

    Sq. Princess quickly took a vantage point on a roof whilst Sq. Morgaine defeated the CQC hostile with her blade. Cpl. Alice continued her approach on the civilian, but the civilian was in sight of a hostile so she was forced to reveal herself to deal with the threat. Attacking it with her sword, she left herself exposed to the hostile who survived, thankfully it was so injured it retreated.

    Rk. Nic was able to flank and finish the hostile off.

    1 civilian extracted. 2 dead. 10 remaining.

    The team continued their approach, discovering a civilian under threat as they did so. Cpl. Alice discovered another civilian and extracted them. This placed her in an awkward position that had the unfortunate side effect of putting her in position for an ambush. She did not survive the encounter. Sq. Princess went on to kill the hostile who killed Cpl. Alice.

    3 civilians extracted. 4 dead. 6 remaining.

    During their approach to the next target zone, Sq. Princess discovered a Civilian and extracted them.

    After discovering a second civilian Sq. Princess went to extract them only for it to be revealed as a trap, the civilian shape-shifting into an ADVENT hostile. Responding quickly Princess fired a shot into the creatures head but it appeared to do minimal damage.

    The Hostiles reacted unexpectedly to the aggression from Nic and Morgaine, destroying a car and killing themselves and Morgaine in the process. Nic was then knocked unconscious by a hostile. The shape-shifter appears to heal from injuries and has Sq. Princess trapped, but he is still holding on, extracting another civilian in the process. Princess escaped to a roof top but the shape-shifter followed him onto the roof top. Reacting quickly, Princess fired a sniper shot but missed, this caused the hostile to destroy the roof they were stood on and both falling to the ground below.

    Injured, but not out, Princess reacted quickly to save the final civilian. All civilian that are alive have been extracted. Unable to wipe out the rest of the camp, Sq. Princess called for EVAC and returned to base.
    Enemies killed: 6/8

    Soldiers Wounded: 2
    Soldiers Killed: 2

    Rating: Disaster

    Post-Mission Stats:

    44% accuracy

    Rk. Nic dealt most damage and was under fire the most.

    Sq. Princess Fired and moved the most.

    Cpl. 14 - Gravely Wounded - Shaken from Combat - out for 9 days.
