Maya saw the lights starting to change. Here we go...Naga hoping I don't blank out on the groove I learned!

(Perhaps... yeah. Had to look back a few pages there, haha. )

Noticing a rather anxious look on Maya's face, Nora took her hand. "It's okay, Maya-senpai. Everything will be fine," she said, hopefully assuring her. "Maybe you wanna switch back to guitar?" the first-year brunette asked upon remembering that this might be Maya's first time playing a bass in public and Nora had previously sent her both the guitar and bass parts of the song -- just in case -- along with its vocal part.

(I forgot to mention the last bit in my time skip post. Apologies. )

"I just...don't feel confident playing bass for this big of a crowd yet." Maya confessed. "But if you really want me to try, I'll do it." She swallowed hard at the sleek red bass waiting for her.

This is not so much fear as nervousness about playing this soon in front of this big an audience.)

 

(A fear of singing in front of crowds? Sounds more like a Tala situation, actually.)

By then Kai showed up in his Diamond Prince coord, much to Nora's relief just when she thought he was taking forever to get changed. "I think Nora's right," he put a hand on Maya's shoulder in an attempt to assure her. "All bassists need to start somewhere, aight." It reminded Nora of her brother saying something like that (but with "violinists" instead of "bassists") back on her very first recital in her music school, so Maya's nervousness right now was... understandable.

Maya smiled as Kai put a hand of encouragement on her shoulder. I wouldn't be here if I had stage fright...so just go out there, and show this crowd what you've learned!

 

Tamal applauded backstage, cheering under his breath for the Reflet duet on the silent livestream. Robin's acrobatic moves were nothing short of inspiring for him - he'd definitely have to ask the older boy for a few lessons, maybe. And Robyn's guitar work! He only knew the basics himself.

Alex on the other hand mostly kept to listening to the echo of the roars behind the doors, thinking through her cues and parts again - and taking another drink of water, really more for reassurance than anything, considering she hadn't sang that much so far.

Maya swallowed hard once she saw the red spot. This is it...time to see if these lessons were worth it!

"C'mon girls," Kai nudged both brunettes to the stage with Nora's violin and (hopefully) Maya's bass in tow. The siblings prepared themselves with Kai standing behind his piano this time. And when the three were ready, Kai started the show with a piano tune.

Maya kept her mind off her nervousness by mentally walking herself through the groove she had practiced. But after a few moments of playing, the nervousness seemed to melt away--as if she was meant to have this bass guitar all along. Granted, this red instrument was just a rental for now, and buying one to own would be a discussion for later, but this exhilaration over finally showcasing something new--she never wanted it to end.

 

While Kai had taken it upon himself to practice singing the song (albeit pitched down by an octave) and Nora had done the same with playing the melody on violin like she would with Last (this was Last Moment, remember?), it was more of a "just in case" thing. Y'know, in case the singer would mess up one way or another. But unlike Tala last time, Maya's nervousness seemed to wane the more she sang and played. It was to the point of Phoenix enjoying herself alongside Han-san -- as a team -- who were already proficient with their respective instruments.

 

Despite the fast pace of the song, Alex noted that the three appeared well practiced and confident enough to keep up with it. Nora's violin was truly something to marvel at - even as the youngest member of the club, she surely was pulling her weight and more. Kai and Maya - with this being the latter's first real bass performance in front of the huge crowd, from what she'd heard - also seemed to be having fun onstage, if their smiles were any indication.

The trio clearly loved every moment of the performance. She paused to look over at Tamal, who watched intently with an equally large grin on his face. The Robiyn duo too seemed engrossed in the music.

After taking a shaky bow for the cheering crowd, Maya returned backstage. She was still shaking a little from the thrill of accomplishment, but took a few breaths to calm herself as she carefully put the bass away.

 

It's over. This particular show was over. As much as the siblings didn't want it to end, it just had to eventually. The two (well, three including Maya) returned backstage with their faces lit up with glee.

The next performance was supposed to be Maya (Phoenix) alone, but the stage lights was still dimmed at the moment. Should be more than enough for her to swap instruments, right?
