Double posting time. I got some feedback that the last post was a lot of info at once, so I'm thinking I probably should break it down a bit slower. Current issue is that if I do that, I'm going to have to delay the beginning of combat for another round of posts. That good with everyone? If not, I can try to make it happen with combat, but with the current setup I've written myself into, that's going to have a second complication of its own - that I have not directly revealed Magius's underlings in my draft thus far. (They are in the room, but they're hiding.) If I were to start combat immediately in the next post, I'd either have to rush their reveal, which I don't think I could set up without making the post incredibly long, or I'd have to make a very unusual combat start, which could be more complicated than just having the reveal.
I... don't mind that. Delaying the battle, I mean. Especially if it means we'll get a better story flow.
@SAF Yes--she is not attacking just yet. This is just a show of bravery, as she is a Sol Pokémon facing shadows, and Sol has the advantage in a fight like this.
Random thought #1 If I were the one running the dragon boss fight like how I did Moon DK fight (i.e. borrowing 122's combat system with Rejuvenation-style field effects thrown in), here are the field effects I would use: Earth DK: Forest Field Water DK: Water Surface for Blacky's group, Beach for the other three MCs Fire DK: Volcanic Field Moon DK: Starlight Arena (I actually did this one btw) Thunder DK: Mountain with Electric Terrain overlay Ice DK: Icy Field Shadow DK: Dimensional Field Sol DK: Fairy Tale Field
Had to double post due to technical difficulties. Apologies. Random thought #2 Missed opportunity: possessed Xuehua and/or Atelier with the "I know you're in there" fight ensuing. Spoiler: Discord convo pt 1 Spoiler: Discord convo pt 2 Spoiler: Discord convo pt 3 Spoiler: Discord convo pt. 4 Since the Discord convo (taken on February 12) was quite messy, I had to crop the important bits and cobble 'em together. Apologies-- Yes, there's a plan for possessed Josson fight if @WavePearl is cool with it. And yes, he will survive this round, but the next fight after that will determine his ultimate fate.
Eh, I'd say that's more like a what-if situation. I only get to do the Sol one anyway. Anyway, your thoughts on this? It's the fine print from my "random thought #2" post btw.
@122 Generation @SAF @WavePearl Forgot to ping everyone in thread. Post's up. Get your actions in! I'll go roll initiative.
Random thoughts: electric boogaloo~ This... could've been Aine since she's the only one not attacking. Probably. Or maybe not considering this: Either way, whether or not Aine actually flinched is still @WavePearl's call as her player. Also, I'd imagine these two chants could possibly overlap: If they do, it probably would end up like this: Spoiler: Da scene (?) Magius: "O Eternatus, messenger of the cosmic abyss!" Blacky: (nocks an arrow) Magius: "Hear the cry of your oracle Magius..." Blacky: "Forgive me, Lord Eternatus..." (raises the bow) Magius: "...and strike down these interlopers!" Blacky: "...but the evil binding you needs to go!" (then shoots the arrow) So broken skull aside, I can't imagine the possible side effects of disrupted ritual when someone beseeches the same deity figure in a conflicting manner with the ritual's chants... And if this were someone rowdier than Blacky, they might've tried to directly attack Miss Magius mid-chant instead of attacking the skeleton.
Oh, that wasn't the real Eternatus. It's kind of dead. The "two pairs of eyes" was alluding to Gregus and Helge having hidden inside the skull.
Doubleposting hours. Yeah uh is this some move from a side game I've never seen before. Is this to detect HP or something.
@ChocoChicken What Scan/Libra reveals, for our purposes: --The enemy --HP/PP levels --Known moves --Any elemental weaknesses/strengths This info is to help Aine size up her opponent, but she can share this info with allies.
For elemental weaknesses and strengths, that should just be the same. If we're referring to your type chart instead of the Pokémon one, they should all be Shadow, so I'll put that in post. I can do HP and the enemies' species, however, I'm going off the assumption that same as player characters, the enemy has access to all possible known moves. I have narrowed down what I'd like to pick, but I'm keeping that open in case.
