Alright, its time to get the ball rolling on this project again, so we're going to be choosing what we want to base the starter Pokémon off of. I'm going to be posting three polls, each with a poll for the ideas that have been proposed for the corresponding elemental starter in the starter suggestion thread. We aren't necessarily limited to just those options, though, and you are free to post new suggestions either in that thread or (preferably) in whichever one of these threads is relevant to your idea. I will then add those to the polls as soon as I can, and votes can be changed if you prefer a new idea over one you already chose. I'm not sure how long these polls will be left open, but probably not more than a week from this post. Water Type Suggestions: Angry Goose, probably Water/Fighting or Water/Flying Gungnir (Odin's spear in Norse mythology) Mjolnir (Thor's hammer in Norse mythology) Water Snake/Sea Serpent
Sticking to my guns, I love the goose but I think its better suited to a relatively common flier. Plus I want it to be flying/fighting
Yeah as much as I love the goose, I think it's better sooted to be a bird mon like Swana. Possibly the early route bird.
Gungnir and Mjolnir were both suggested by the same person in the same post who wanted a Norse theme, the sea monster connecting to Norse mythology is just a fun coincidence and I'm not sure that the Goose fits the theme of the others but its still a fun concept and has also been suggested as a regional bird.
Dont have time for crappy sketches right now but here are some descriptions of the 3 stages I had in mind for the snake starter. Anything in [] is just something I came up with at the top of my head and that can easily be changed. [Eckelet] the Tiny Serpent Pokémon Name breakdown: Ec from Echis, the scientific name of the saw-scale viper. The inspiration I had for the sound producing scales aspect of the Pokémon. kelet from Snakelet the common name for a baby snake Type: Water Physical desc.: A small snake with big eyes looking up at the trainer. Its body in narrow and curled up in a little spiral, evoking a whirlpool. Its tail flattens out like an oar to help with swimming. Coloration would be a murky blue/green for the main parts of the body with a yellow band starting at the eyes and going down the back, hinting at the electric typing coming in later in the evolution. Dex Entry: [Eckelet]s are very shy and quick to worry, coiling up defensively when provoked. Rubbing its scales together makes a noise similar to a heavy rainfall, its said that groups of these making their noise at the same time will bring the rains to the area. Spoiler: Inspirations 1) The sawscaled viper doing its warning noise: as well as rain sticks: 2) The big, cute eyes that egg eating snakes have: 3) Sea snakes generally but also their flattened tail 4) Myths and gods: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horned_Serpent https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quetzalcoatl https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_Serpent ============================== [Sertena] the Horned Serpent Pokémon Name breakdown: Serpent and Uktena the Horned serpent of myth. Type: Water/Electric Ability: Torrent (Hidden: Swift Swim) Physical Desc.: A broader, more viper like head with a heavier brow sporting the starts of a pair yellow antlers. Feather or cloud like protrusions start appearing around the 3rd of the body. The coloration of the body is a darker, stormier blue The body is thicker and posed in a way that shows more bravado than the first even if its potentially just bluffing. Dex Entry: The starts of horns have emerged, enabling [Sertena]s to channel their electricity out of their body. False bravado is a common trait at this stage, often flattening itself out to look more intimidating to others and keeping its more sensitive side for its trainer and close friends. Spoiler: Inspirations: 1. The threat display that a lot of snakes have to look bigger: 2. More Horned Serpent influence: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horned_Serpent 3. Moody teenagers lol Name breakdown: Type: Water/Electric Ability: Torrent (Hidden: Swift Swim) Physical Desc.: Dex Entry:
