What are some types that you never understood why a Pokémon has? 1- Gyarados and Flying type. I understand why it wasn’t a Dragon type because Water-Dragon would have been an overpowered type combination in gen 1. But why couldn’t they change its typing in future gens, like Magnemite? And why is Mega Gyarados part Dark type? It seems like a missed opportunity to not have it be a Dragon type. 2- Mawile and Fairy type. It’s classified in the Pokédex as the “Deceiver Pokémon”, which implies it is evil. And as you may know, Dark type is known as “Evil type” in Japanese. It can learn 17 Dark type moves, while it can only learn 3 Fairy moves. It’s also based on a yōkai called the Futakuchi-onna. (You can read some stories about it online, but many stories depict it as deceitful or vengeful.) 2- Granbull and Fairy type. (and Snubbull too) It’s classified in the Pokédex as the “Fairy Pokémon”, but as we already discussed with Mawile, this classification means nothing about its typing. It is far from being even remotely cute, and it learns a grand total of 3 Fairy moves, one of them being ironically Charm. I think it should’ve stayed a Normal type.
