The lovely weather made it hard to stay inside for even those that hated the sunlight and one person was happily taking advantage of her break.The girl was sitting on the steps that led to the HQ and watched the people walking in and out the building. Some of the passersby were just regular people that came to make requests of the Union Rangers, and others were the Rangers themselves. The girl on the steps leaned back and basked in the sun, on occasion waving at the passing people. The person in question was a Ranger herself and she was enjoying the peace and quiet that had been reigning for a few months now. It had been a few months since the latest incident with Team Dim Sun. She herself hadn't managed to catch anything but the aftermath of the whole disaster, being outside the region at the time. She looked around lazily, trying to spot her furball partner. The little fox was a ball of mischief and always trying to pounce on her. As she enjoyed the sun, she was startled by the sudden sound of her styler going off. She quickly grabbed her fine styler and opened up the video chat, while sitting up and trying to smooth down her hair, trying to at least look professional. It was her brother staring at her with a serious face. "Zen, what is going on? I am just outside the building, you know." The blonde looked at the screen with a worried expression on her face, swallowing heavily as thought began to enter her mind. A red fox climbed into the girl's lap and cooed as she pawed at the screen, knowing that someone was on the other side. The girl placed a hand on the Vulpix's head and hissed, "Not now, Pixie". "Mission. I need you up in the conference room in five minutes, Saria." Zen stated before cutting off the connection. That made Saria worry even more as abrupt endings were never a good sign. She nodded to herself and with her partner ran into the building to meet up with her twin.
Steady breathing left the red haired male sat upon a rock in front of the Rangers Union headquarters. A peaceful expression rested on his face as the wind breezed around him, it's light touches keeping him grounded in reality. Suddenly a tranquil smile appeared on the males lips as he felt a weight on his shoulder and the grip of talons. "Back already, Pidove?" The male asked lightly, opening his eyes to glance at the Pokémon in question, amusement dancing through the grey orbs. Listening to the chirps of the tiny pigeon Pokémon, Zephyr chuckled. Closing his eyes again, he began to meditate once more before he felt his partner's beak lightly pecking against his head getting his attention. "Yes, Pidove?" Zephyr asked exasperatedly, getting a chirp in return before Pidove took flight and began to circle the rock. Shaking his head in amusement, Zephyr's attention suddenly went to his styler as it alerted him to a call. Opening up the video chat, Zephyr raised an eyebrow quizzically rose as he met the eyes of Zen the Operator, before he could even speak he was quickly informed of a mission and to report to the conference room. Staring at his styler with eyes like steel, Zephyr rose to his feet and whistled, "Pidove! We have a mission!" He called, getting a chirp in return. Spinning on his heel, Zephyr began to pace to headquarters, a smile rising on his face as he felt his partner land on his shoulder.
Alastor was lying under one of the trees near the Ranger Union HQ enjoying the quiet time after the Altru incident. I was a blessing after all that happen involving Team Dim Sun and while he’d not taken part in the major operations he’s still been part of the minor ones. The ranger stretched his arms above his head before looking to his right, next to him sat a totodile named Toto, his partner. Toto was helping himself to some snacks he’s fished out of one a pouch his ranger friend had on his belt. The man just chuckled slightly at the sight of the totodile fighting with the bag the snacks were in. Alastor closed his eyes and started to drift off, just lying there enjoying the peace, the sound of people coming to and from HQ, the wind rustles in the leaves and the sound of his partner devouring snacks since he’d finally gotten the bag to open. Alastor was jolted awake when he heard his styler ringing; groggily he sat up and answered it. It was Zen, one of the operators that appeared on the screen. There was a mission and had to come to the conference room immediately, Alastor gave the operator a stern nod before ending the call and getting up. “Come Toto, looks like we have a mission.” He said as he started walking back to HQ.
Saria ran through the halls of the Ranger Union, narrowly dodging the other Rangers that were trying to get on with their jobs. She waved at a few of her friends as she rushed by. She bumped into Nage, as she came to an abrupt stop in front of the conference room. She quickly apologized and scuttled into the room, bright red from embarresment. "Lemme guess, you bumped into Nage again?" Zen's laughing voice came from the control panel. Saria just buried her face in her hands. Her partner Pokémon yipped happily when she saw her partner's brother and rushed over to Zen. He obliged the young fox and petted her curls softly. "Noooooo, I didn't." Saria had gotten rid of her blush and was now pouting at her brother. He just shook his head and send Pixie back to Saria. "We will need to wait with the briefing until the other Rangers arrive. They shouldn't be long." The blond operator explained. His sister just nodded in response as she redid her hair.
Quickly walking through the halls of headquarters, Zephyr politely smiled at anyone he passed by. On the outside, he was as calm and peaceful as usual, on the inside however he was troubled. 'That call was rather abrupt, I wonder if there's a problem." Approaching the conference room, Zephyr glanced at Pidove. "Ready, partner?" He asked, smiling at the affirmative chirp. Taking a deep breath Zephyr entered. "I apologise if I'm late," Zephyr spoke, his head bowed. Similarly, Pidove mockingly imitated his partner. "As is Pidove, apparently."
Walking to get to the Union seemed more like a task than a happy trip than usual. After receiving a video call from Zen, the Operator, she was told to report to the conference room of the Ranger Union. Yuzuki had just finished a mission yesterday and yet here she is, lacking in power and sleep. In fact, she was walking with her back hunched, along with her Steenee which was more excited than she was, skipping down the path. "Goodness," she sighed, "I hate having to leave the Ranger Base without first getting proper rest." At long last, she arrived at the Union, finally getting her proper posture back, "Great, let's get this over with, shall we?" An affirmative squeal followed from Steenee who was glad to have her partner back in the mood. When the two entered the building, they were greeted by many people moving down the halls. Yuzuki did her best to be on her best behavior by smiling at those who she glanced, trying to find her way to the conference room as soon as possible because she wanted to get things over with already. "The sooner the better," She thought. And there she was, standing right in front of the door that lead to the conference room. At the press of a button, it revealed the wide room, along with another ranger who was totally taller than her and had red hair. "Oh, uh, hi," she said, "I hope I'm not intruding an important conversation or something."
"Zephyr, Yuzuki, right on time. We are still waiting on Alastor to join us." Zen beckoned the two Rangers inside the conference room. "Sorry to call you back so early, Yuzuki, but we had no other choice. We are still trying to fix the last parts of the incident and all." The blond operator apologized to the tired Ranger before turning back to the multitude of files that he had in front of him. Saria stared at the two newcomers and frowned a bit. She didn't think that she knew either of them very well. She had met Yuzuki in passing, but Zephyr was completely new to her. It didn't really matter. She waved at th from her spot in the room. "Heya, I am Saria."
Nodding politely to Zen, Zephyr turned to the other two Rangers in the room and smiled, "A pleasure to meet your acquaintance, my name is Zephyr Breeze." Bowing his head he continued, "I assume we will be working together on this mission, I hope we work well together."
Alastor walked through HQ nodding and waving at people that greeted him as he headed for the conference room. He was wondering what the mission could be about; everything had been so quiet since the Altru incident that he hadn’t been needed in the conference room since it ended. He and his partner arrived at the conference room’s door, opening it he saw that others had already arrived. I’m probably the last one like always he thought as he gave them a nod as he entered. “Sorry if I’m late.” He closed the door behind him and leaned against the wall. Toto was waving at the others while beaming, happy to see that there were others going on this mission as well.
"Not like you are really that late." Zen nodded to the late Ranger. "Anyway, now that everyone is here we can start the briefing." The blond stood up and gestured at the floor that had finally booted up and displayed a map of the Almia region. He allowed the Rangers to study the files the popped up on their own before speaking. Saria crouched down and took the time to study the layout of the map for a bit. The blonde frowned as she recognized the basic layout of what was being shown on the display. 'This looks like the Chroma Highlands. But why would it be displayed here, I thought we had a force there that kept an eye on it? Something must be wrong if Zen is being so tense about it.' The blonde stayed quiet and waited for her brother to start talking. "You all know about the Altru incident with Team Dim Sun and Darkrai. But what you might not have known is that the Dark Crystal that Team Dim Sun used was in fact mined in the Chroma Highlands. This was kept off the public records as to prevent anyone from trying to look for more shards." Zen started speaking as he gestured to the map. "We have kept a close eye on it for a few months, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary so far. We even pulled back most of the Rangers in that area and relocated them to help with the rebuilding efforts. However, recently, as in the past two weeks, locals have started reporting shady people coming in and out of the ruins there." He pressed a button on his remote and the floor displayed the entrance to the ruins. The picture was dark and a bit grainy, but Saria could just about make out a couple of figures carrying things into the ruins. She pulled a thoughtful face as she continued to listen. "We don't have much evidence right now. But," Zen paused for a second before resuming, "A local managed to catch a few words when the people walked by the ledge he was sitting under." He turned a few pages in his file, as he spoke. "Something about 'rites' and 'power'. The Union needs you to go and check out what is going on."
Yuzuki watched as the map of the Almia region began to appear right in front of them. Zen explained what was happening, more exactly, what was happening at Chroma Highlands. Apparently, most locals have been seeing shady people coming in and out of the ruins. What worried the Operator the most was that Chroma Highlands was also the exact same place where the Dark Crystals were mined by Team Dim Sun. "Who could those be?" Yuzuki sighed, wondering, "And are they planning on using the Dark Crystals, again?" Afterwards, she began to listen to Zen once more. The most important piece of the story was the bit of information that Zen got from the locals. Rites and power. "Put those together with the Dark Crystal in the highlands, and that means trouble, no doubt." She thought. "I bet whoever is going in there knows what they're doing," she sighed before continuing, "or what's in there, so I wouldn't be surprised if we're in for a tough mission."
Idly rubbing neck of Pidove as he listened to the brief, Zephyr hummed in agreement with Yuzuki, "Yes, it certainly seems like it." Glancing to Zen, Zephyr's grey eyes narrowed in thought, "Do you believe it's related to Team Dim Sun? Could they be resurfacing?" Truly Zephyr hoped this wasn't the case, with the danger Team Dim Sun almost brought to Almia before, another attempt by them could spell disaster. On Zephyr's shoulder, Pidove glanced worriedly at his partner, releasing a small chirp causing Zephyr to smile in response.
"We cannot rule out the possibility of that being the case, Yuzuki, Zephyr. It might be an off shot of Dim Sun. It might just be a couple of thugs that are vandalizing the ruins. Or we might be dealing with something entirely different. While we have no evidence that it is Team Dim Sun, we also have nothing that suggests otherwise. That is why this is an urgent mission that needs to be done quickly." Zen responded as he rubbed his forehead, trying to stave off a headache. His red eyes were narrowed as he looked at his sister with a bit of worry shown in his face. "If it is Dim Sun, we may have a case of revenge on our hands. We as a whole did destroy the organization by taking out the ones in charge," Saria mused out loud, as she read a witness statement about the shady characters. Dark clothes and hats didn't really point towards it being Team Dim Sun, as she had seen photo's of Team Rocket and Neo Team Plasma when she had been out of the region. "That would be a worst-case scenario, though, if we meet up with former or members of Dim SUn. I do hope it is just a bunch of idiots that went to explore the ruins, but these electronic devices they are carrying seem to suggest otherwise. What do you guys think?" She asked the group as a whole.
Alastor was listening in silence to what Zen and the others had to say while looking down on the map of the Chroma Highlands. It did worry him that it might be Dim Sun again which could mean big trouble since they’d been hard to deal with doing the Altru incident and the ranger remembered those devices they’d used on pokémon. These people were carrying electronic devices which could be both good and bad depending on what they were used for. “I think we better check it out as fast as possible.” Alastor finally said after being silent doing the meeting till now “If it is Dim Sun again they most certainly aren’t up to anything good and needs to be stopped before they can set anything in motion.” He’d stopped looking at the map and was now looking at his fellow rangers.
Nodding, Zephyr agreed, "He's right, in the event it is Team DIm Sun or a group with relation to them we must act quickly before another Altru incident takes place." A frown found its way to his face as he stared at the map with narrowed eyes, "If we're lucky it may just be a small group looking to start trouble, but if it's not then we cannot stand back on this, we need to act with extreme prejudice." Glancing up, Zephyr smiled softly, "I don't think we need to worry too much though, we're all competent Rangers so we should be able to handle this."
"Only speculating here does nothing to help the Union in figuring out what is going on. You have been fully briefed, time to move out." Zen commanded. Saria gave her brother a cheeky salute, before hugging him briefly and running out of the door, shouting that she would meet up with the others at the entrance to Chroma Road, at Altru Park. She had an idea and for that to succeed she needed to capture a very specific Pokémon on the Union Road. She rushed out of the Union, dodging poor Murph, who had just come out of the break room with a lot of drinks on a platter. Luckily, they both managed to avoid a collision and Saria was able to leave the Union without any additional problems. "Now where are the Mareep and the Swellow hiding?" She asked herself as she spurted down the road. She suddenly spotted something yellow and she grinned. It was time for capture on!
Although Yuzuki would normally look for Pokémon that would help her once she gets to the place she needs to be, this time, she decided to capture Pokémon before even getting to the place she needs to be. She decided to look for and capture a Doduo that she would ride to get to Altru Park. Of course, she also wanted a Pokémon that can help her burn down any barricades, so she decided to look for a Growlithe as well. "Keep your eyes peeled, Steene," Yuzuki said, looking in every direction to see if there was a Doduo or a Growlithe available for capture. Moments later, the two encountered an unsuspecting Growlithe. Putting her styler out, she began to send out her Capture Disc that began to encircle Growlithe. The small antenna began to come out of her styler, waiting for Yuzuki to move it around in cirlces, which was done after a few seconds. Light then began to envelop the Growlithe, acting as a signal, telling Yuzuki that the capture is complete.
Alastor left the conference room without saying anything else, he wanted to hurry to Altru Park and maybe on the way he could catch a pokémon or two that may be able to help with the mission. He prepped for the mission, making sure his styler was charged and his first-aid kit was stocked before heading out with Toto following close behind. He had to get to the park on foot since his bike had a flat tire he hasn’t had to time to fix yet, now it would have to wait till after the mission. On Union Road spotted a spearow, thinking it may come in handy at the very least ad assist help he decided to capture it. Activation capture mode he sends the disc toward the small bird guiding it. Soon it looped around the spearow a few times as the pokémon gave a screech of surprise as it hadn’t notice the ranger till the capture disc was spinning around it.
Saria had captured the Mareep without any real trouble and now she was walking down the Union road toward Altru Park. On the way, she saw a lot of Rangers still running around trying to get some things fixed and Saria signed loudly, causing Pixie to look at her funny. "It is just that I have no idea what I am up against, even if it is that Dim Sun Team, Pixie. I wasn't here when it happened after all." The blonde tried to remember what she had heard about Dim Sun after she came back from her assignment in Hoenn. She knew that the ones that made the most trouble had been handed over to the police or fled after one of their Rangers had put a stop to the crazy plan Blake Hall had cooked up. That was about all she knew about it though. She gave a sigh of frustration and lowered her arms with a loud huff. Saria hadn't realized that she had already made it to the meeting point. Pixie, on the other hand, was already racing around to play with the local Pokémon, the captured Mareep doing the same, making sure to stay close to Pixie. The blonde settled on a spot near the entrance to Chroma road, a bit hidden in the shade. It wouldn't do for the civilians to think that something was going on. She looked around a bit to see if she could spot other Rangers yet, but she couldn't. Saria shrugged and started tinkering with her styler to try and improve the launch distance of her capture disc. She wasn't succeeding much, but at least she wasn't making it worse.
